  1. Do you know how hard it is to find a decent reasonably priced Italian shoes these days - LOL!

Nice shoes!! Great strap on the 113 too :)

    Being a Pacific Northwest guy...

I'm more along the casual line...

    Fiddy & Teva's...

Damn I wish I could wear a fiddy... I've tried and tried, but it just feels silly on me... amazing how it looks great on everyone else... must be me :nerd:

  2. I also passed a rather embarrassing number in terms of straps; I believe I have 200 as of last Saturday...

Hmmm... and only two wrists? octopus-emoticon.gif

One could say that it is quite the neurosis you've developed :brow:

With 200 straps... and if they cost $30 each... that's $6k, and I'll bet there's a slew of them that are well over the $100 mark.

Got any gens to slap those puppies on?

  3. In regards to straps... I've bought a shipload of straps, from a boatload of dealers... There is an extreme range of quality amongst and between them...

I may be generalizing here a bit, and there are exceptions, but anyway:

I have found the Toscana range to be quite the basic and standard machine made production strap... not wonderful or inspiring IMO

To get the same (or better) quality at a much lower price, you can find equivalents with Don or BOB straps.

If you want a great 24/24 historic style strap, I would go with either the MPs, GeF, or definitely Dirk (real Dirk, not 'E' Dirk)...

I've also purchased a bunch of wonderful straps from Drew at Europelli... A gentleman in every sense of the word. He has great shell cordovan straps that would also go very very well with a suit. He also has a good range of gator straps too AFAIK.

There are other high quality strapmakers out there too... APB & Strapmasters comes to mind... beautiful straps if you don't mind parting with the extra cost...

Again, I can't say enough good stuff about Aaron HKTan... although he has had a run of bad luck with personal family problems that has led to his work running behind... He is a standup guy and his straps are tops!

On the low end (IMO) there's Taikonaut... cheap straps made cheap for the cheap (probably by children in sweat factories somewhere).... I have never had a strap that I've been able to wear for more than a day from these guys...

They also trade under the Strapcode label... Strapcode=Dress Code... LOL

Not had a wonderful feeling from the slew of strapmakers seemingly coming out of the woodwork over the last year or so... Seems like everyone's jumping on the bandwagon with nasty (possibly/most likely processed) hides and production run straps. Pawmarker & Strap Culture to name a few...

NOTE: I believe that I have just found an exception to the above rule having obtained an almost new Mario Paci XIII strap (which is today on sale on the TC website for $99)... I just can't believe this MP XIII is an MP strap... the leather feels, looks, and smells like the basic straps not typical of the Paci range... MPs are usually very beautiful straps, made from exquisite hides, that smell and feel richer than what you get when buying basic straps... Some of mine are over a year old and still have that strong leather smell.

  4. I think a nice gator strap looks best dressed up... plus 24/22 taper is a little less overbearing...

Smat sells Walter straps... They are excellent quality, good as OEM:

    Found these too:

Aaron (HKTan) made me some beautiful straps... My latest dark blue gator with grey stitch is the ducks nutz.. Sorry, no photos :(

The Riva (I have the non OEM hirsch) would also look beautiful on the 111:

    Some straps:

  5. I think it's a beautiful watch... reminds me alot of the style of the zenith rainbow flyback...

I like how they've implemented the cyclops in panerai style, under the crystal... so much smarter than the protruding appendage cyclops of the submariner and its clones ;)

I bet it would look great on a strap too.

  6. Apple Computer announced today that it has developed a computer chip that can store and play high fidelity music in women's breast implants. The iTit will cost $499 or $599 depending on speaker size.

This is considered to be a major breakthrough because women have always complained about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them.
