Second opinions on this ladies Breitling needed
stevethebest replied to P4GTR's topic in The Breitling Area
I'd go gor the link if she likes (or you assume she likes) the genre. You excluded Rolex, which is in my opinion one of the best choices to satisfy girls (some are very accurate, and I bought a DJ for my wife). If she likes quartz try to look at some Patek catalog. Good luck for your search -
The new and the old ... dwellers that is :)
stevethebest replied to lazarini's topic in The Rolex Area
Great couple Laz, and fantastic job on that 1665. I love this watch, I have an MBW Double red I started vintagising/modifying with Frank's help ...The thing I love most in your watch is the Ubi wheel. I can't sleep with my DRSD thin date. Do you know if this wheel is still possible to find somewhere? Congrats, friend, the SSD is awesome but your 1665 sucks!!!!! -

Nothing on the run for me .... -
The answer is easier (this time) : glue the coronet back with an epoxidic glue as suggested. The issue is how you handle your watch: you should never pull the coronet, but the sides of the bracelet itself! Notice that the inner clasp is narrower than the barcelet

My first PAM..... Ultimate 111h from Angus
stevethebest replied to jsmith11's topic in The Panerai Area
Sorry for this, mate . I think Angus behaved correctly: he even offered to refund it. -
Superlative bargain ... I love it but it is too big for my wrist, and I could only afford a rep

Music Lovers - What are you listening to right now?
stevethebest replied to By-Tor's topic in General Discussion
Besides my Avatar (another planet), Muse (New Born) and poor Amy Winehouse. Don't you think it is a pity how she's killing herself? -
Really nice blue dial ... I would not be so doubtful about the genuinity of the movement judging from what your ears suggest ... looking at it it seems absolutely genuine. If you look the visible parts of the movement they sing "Rolex" from every side.

I can't but agree with you, dizz. Why taking this risk?

An open letter from Ziggy to the members of RWG.
stevethebest replied to RWG Technical's topic in General Discussion
Rob already indicated some of the modders/watchsmiths whose job himself, and all of us looking at the pics and reading the feedbacks on the forum, had the opportunity to appreciate. My proposal is to create a Watchsmith/Modder section, recognised by RWG, which includes these names (if they agree to be in, of course), with the jobs they are specialised in and possibly their location (why sending our watches in another continent if we have some closer alternatives...). The candidate new entries in the section should somehow (pics, witness from senior members and/or administrators) prove their skills and reliability. I think the collector's section was born like this ... What do you think? steve -
Wear them well, they are beauties!

An open letter from Ziggy to the members of RWG.
stevethebest replied to RWG Technical's topic in General Discussion
Why don't we take Rob's subtle suggestion to have an "authorised watchsmith/modder" section, with the description of the specific capabilities? I think this would help members not to be scammed, since a bad modder or watchmith is not less "scamming" us than a vendor? I do not know if somebody else out there has the feeling that if Rob is away from this forum all the members are more subject to these scammers -
WOW this forum is incredible, but I can tell you I have two passions in my life: watches AND guitars! Sincerely I've some time thought of having some rep watches but never rep guitars So Sub, since you are a player, was that neck so horrible to change it? No sustain or what? And was the body so good to keep it? In any case I really want to compliment for your job, very impressive I post for all the appreciating members a pic of my baby ... (sorry for the bad quality!)

Rolex MBW from Joshua? A dream come true?Yes!
stevethebest replied to elprimerozen's topic in The Rolex Area
I do not want to comment about Joshua's MBK being or not the real deal. I just wanted to add a comment on how good has been my recent transaction with Neil/TTK. Yes, I just received a new DRSD MBK from Neil, and I am very happy with it This is the same watch many of you already know and own ... I got my Double Red! It took 42 days to have this piece in my hands after ordering it to Neil: I am in Europe, and to avoid customs issues Neil and myself decided to ship via the UK. Simple pack received via mail, no question and no answer needed. What in my experience was incredibly positive was the Skype ordering experience with Neil! I followed his suggestion and downoladed Skype on my PC, wrote him a message to know if he had the watch in stock, and the day after I received a call from TTK: yes a normal phone call. He took all the time needed to tell me the characteristics of the watch, the fact that the He valve is a working one, all the services included in his way of managing this "hobby" such as waterproofing, polishing, regulating the time, etc. We then decided which was the best way to deliver the watch fron Thailand, which was the best way to overcome any possible custom issue, and the fact that with some extra days the watch cold have been shipped through the UK. Neil was very kind and polite and gave me all the time I needed to decide on this topic: the phone call, free for both of us, lasted around 15 minutes. I think it is very important to have the possibility to discuss with your seller and ask questions, instead of writing mails. There is also the possibility to write messages in a chat: the messages will be saved, and it will be possible to find them later. Neil also sent me some pics of the watch in his hands before I paid for it, so I knew exactly what I was going to buy. I enclose a couple of photos from the ones he sent me (he is sure a much better photographer than I am). I hope this message can be useful to many potential buyers: Neil is a real gentleman and his Skype ordering system is the best a rep addict could desire -
ha ha ha such a funny story! ... but you must really rely in your mods/modder Nanuq!

Should the new SeaDweller be classed as a super rep?
stevethebest replied to FxrAndy's topic in The Rolex Area
A nice watch, "heavy" feel ... easily improvable with minor mods (CGs, pearl ...). It is not perfect but ... perfectible -
I think that elegance is somehow plain, sport watches dials can be filled with (more or less useful) gadgets. Also the size has a strong impact on this; a dressy situation with a Calatrava will never be "simple"

A true piece of art! Compliments to you and master The Zigmeister Still nobody answered to Manuel's question about how the gen movmt fits into the MBW case ...
