Very nice work, ww! Shame about the Zodiac Aerospace, but it's a movement that's stymied even the most clever members of the rep community.
And pity those of us who haven't got a GMT at all!
They're for my old Speedmaster, which doesn't have drilled lugholes. I have good, Rolex-spec 19mm bars that I use on my Daytonas, but they're flangeless.
Looks like I might have to go with Cousins here.
Thanks for responding, but in my experience, the idea that "You get what you pay for" does NOT hold true on eBay. For example, wholesaleoutlet has no-name bars selling for >$2 each--some of the most expensive around.
If you're not familiar with that seller, he's been nicknamed "Mr. Slimeball" by regulars at this forum!
I'm looking to buy a few double-flanged 19mm spring bars. Must be high quality but reasonably priced, including shipping to Canada (i.e. Ofrei's off the list).
The last time I bought a springbar assortment from eBay, the bars were so poorly made that the flanges wore away after slight prodding with a springbar tool!
I don't know what to say, other than to thank you for being a part of this community for so long.
And a very big THANK YOU for making me and my friends laugh so hard at that Sinko de Mayo joke!
I did not think that I wanted a modern Rolex, other than maybe the 214270 Explorer. And then I tried the new SD in Vancouver earlier this summer.
Much nicer than the SubC. There's only that problem I have with the price tag...
And these are some of the simplest dials that Rolex ever produced! There's no multicolored text, subdial dishing, sunburst pattern, waffle-etching or anything special. Just white on black, and lume on the markers. Seeing service dials sell for ~1000 is frustrating, and encourages me to hoard my parts even more!
Terrible! The difference in quality between it and the similarly-priced InGod44 dial is astounding. NDT also has a Space-Dweller, but it's overpriced and is no better than InGod's. (Based on photos, I'd say it looks worse.)
Regarding the mahand1 dial, this is the same one that Yuki was selling a few years back. The markers are not only puffy, but the numerals are too far away from the dial edge. I would rank it below MBK's.
Out of Yuki's current stock (and assuming you can trust the photos on the website), "1016 matt dial" and "1016 matt dial white lume" look to be the least objectionable.
As for Vintage Watchmaker... That's a whole lot of money for something with such funny-looking numerals. (And on an unrelated note, I scratch my head over the Daytona dials they're selling. It's like they gave up once they got around to printing the subdials!)
I'm not seeing evidence that past deficiencies have been addressed, other than the return to standard Sub hands (instead of the maxi handset erroneously used in the second generation of these reps). The dial still appears to be glossy (rather than finished like a Milgauss') and the case profile is still off (too thick in the midsection, insufficient droop on the lugs).
I'm still kicking! But I didn't realize you needed a special tool for this procedure. Can't you just use a flat-head screwdriver to loosen the pusher from the inside of the case?
