  1. dealers are allowed to charge what they wish for a watch. some popular dealers charge much much more than other dealers. It's up to you to price shop.
  2. Airmail is a two week wait. EMS to the USA is 5 business days at the least.
  3. Nowadays dealers are able to get almost every watch that any other dealer can get. There's almost no exclusivity. Simply go to a dealer with a good reputation and if you don't see the piece you need on their web page, drop them an email and they can send a runner out to the markets to find one.
  4. It could be a combination of two problems. Trapped machine shop grit and lack of any lubrication. These watches are full of metal grit in the bracelets and external moving parts. People who complain about cheap bracelets often times have never simply cleaned and oiled them.
  5. I have bought more watches from the Sales area (normal forum members) than new from dealers. Just be sure it's a member with a decent forum history, and not someone with 2 weeks membership time under their belt. The watches I have bought new are from Watch International. Be aware that their web presence is not as good as others and you will have to deal with buying via email requests. That's the way the game is played tho. Some dealers are bigger than others and have varying levels of website quality.. And that does NOT make one better than the other. Bergie's has no web site at all but carries only the finest soft goods and offers the best prices around.
  6. Just read the Forum and I promise within a month you will be fluent in Replica!
  7. I agree that a certain undeserved "Holiness" is sometimes attributed to Gens, especially Panerai. I have seen my share of Gens with protruding crown levers, non-flush CP, and non-flush CG pins .. but many would have you believe that if your rep does not have these "fixes" that they are imperfect, wrong and should be shunned.
  8. There is a strap maker's area here on the Forum, and you will soon learn that Panerai owners are absolutely insane about collecting straps, and thus the strap makers generate a dizzying array of straps .. more than you could ever want in anything from calf, to croc, to ostrich, to elephant, to snake .. and more.
  9. Did the SEARCH icon change within the last couple of days? I could swear it was BLACK and almost impossible to see on the black background .. now it is bright white. and that is a good thing.
  10. All the trusted dealers on this forum (and others) can sell you a UPO 45mm (ultimate version planet ocean) That is what you are looking for. Go to the replica dealers area here on the forum main page, then choose a dealer and visit their web site. Precious Time, PureTime, Perfect Clones, Watch International, Pro Polo ... it doesn't matter. They all get their watches from the same factories. The differences come in price, and level of service. As long as you are buying the "UPO" then it is the latest accurate version.
  11. Just to make sure you understand, one of those watches is cheaper because it is on a leather strap. Bracelet versions will be more expensive. Also, there are bad versions of the 45mm Planet Ocean out there .. if the price is TOO low, then ask the dealer if it is a real Ultimate version Planet Ocean rep, and not a "budget" version. FYI a UPO will not be priced lower than 180-200 USD ... if it's 100, then it's a budget replica.
  12. Yes, I agree .. the blue with white is great.
  13. FYI ReplicaMake is not a dealer on this forum, was thrown off two other forums last week and is on probation with a third forum. Next .. all reputable dealers have the same UPO 45mm .. it's from a single factory. You are showing us two pictures of the same watch; one on leather and one on a bracelet.
  14. Katt watch service is a forum trusted (not this forum) watch tech shop in MN, and can fix your problem for a few dollars. send a mail to gkloner@gmail.com for shipping info. highly highly recommended. I just got 2 watches back from him yesterday, and they were only sent to him a week ago. $50 to fix both including shipping costs and PP fees. friendly, quick and good work.
  15. Sending a watch back to China for repair is almost never the right plan. Sorry for your Customs troubles.
  16. I agree that you now need a pro to fix it.. We've all been there, so don't be bummed. What's your location and we'll suggest an inexpensive and qualified repair tech if we can.
  17. The problem is that some people are naturally angrier than other people, and would add names to the list for their own petty reasons.
  18. My apologies for this error; after doing research, I see that only the latest generation 42mm PO has an ACL and additional engravings .. the latest generation 45mm does not yet have these things. UPO 45mm PO 42mm Latest generation:
  19. Another vote for the Vacheron Constantin Overseas, white dial. NO CHRONO
  20. My only concern regarding this watch is that it's obviously an older generation of UPO. Where is the anti-counterfeit logo and the other latest-generation case back engravings. If this is indeed a UPO, it's certainly not a newer release. Possibly as old as a year or more. I hope it will not arrive with happy feet.
  21. Thank you for taking the time to write up your impressions on a watch that has very little coverage on the Forum. Even tho it has the problems you listed, as long as you like it, that is what matters most. $80 vs $550 is quite a difference. People who are not Breitling nuts won't know to look for any of the problems.
  22. He's still mentioned because he developed and brought to market one of the two great DSSD reps. Abe Lincoln is dead but sometimes we still talk about him too
  23. You haven't mentioned any oiling .. I know you did not forget
