Hi, thought I'd post a wristy for once seeing as I always have to post in day earlier thread ... world time differences and all. Also of interest, is that I just busted my local shoplican wearing a speedy rep, They're Honkanese so I made sure to have suss it as closely as I could (silver rehaut ring) and I must say it's a very nice rep and unless you knew your stuff you'd just think it was a very nice watch. Even if you owned an Omega but weren't "into" I doubt you'd pick it. May have to get me one... For today, my first (HQ at least) rep ever; the $360 n00bmariner:
-
I like it too and would like to get one. I don't care that it's not accurate (none of them are). I've found a cheapy over on Silix's http://www.silix-prime.com/rol125-p-927.html and I'd buy it if it wasn't too small 38mm... Oh it doesn't have polished mid-links either.
-
Ooh, think I'd both the watches above^^. Even though the AR tint on this annoys me greatly, I wore this today:
-
I'm calling it's purely financial. I have a few genuine watches that I'll never wear again but never sell (if I needed the watch box space I'd give to family or friend as a gift) . If I buy a rep that I don't like I doubt I'd sell it, though I would offer for trade. if I couldn't afford to pay bills or buy another watch until I sold it, then yeah.. Why would you go through the hassle of selling it if it wasn't for the money? You'd just give it to a friend if you didn't like it.

The Getat custom got me into them, now I'm really digging the Pam style. My 113:

Yep, the PVD incorrectly has the case back from the upcoming Ublack (should read U1 in big letters where it reads U black etc). The PVD quality is outstanding for a rep IME.. Yes, the Sinn logo should be red on the PVD version, though white is correct for the steel version. The gen isn't really orange-y it's really bright red - like end of the spectrum/primary red. The rep is a slightly darker red. I've been in the AD investigating and considering to buy a gen. Regardless of the obvious flaws, I can't recommend the rep highly enough. It's excellent!
-
Out of the six reps I received since arriving here the PVD Sinn U1 is perhaps the best build quality of the bunch. (well a toss-up between it and the DSSD ultimate). It's solid, substantial and very cool. I own many gens and it feels gen - seriously. Also, while choosing it from Josh, I noticed he has the 2813 version on a special deal - no shipping charge.

Yes, love my monsters, have both the orange and black, would love the all black, but apparently it's hen's teeth. Cheers Ken, though I can't see any reason to buy Seiko reps, unless you like the look of the horrible looking IMO super high end range. Will check it out, cheers John! Thanks guys, seems they're both gen. Have pulled the trigger on the osmobiles one as it appears to be made in Japan (which i think is preferable even though really, it probably makes no difference). going to put a white panatime rubber diver on it and keep the bracelet as spares for my Monsters (they are very hard to come by - costing nearly as much as this entire watch). Hehe, and I got them all wrong except for the watch, nikes and the diamond... -
Sorry, I have searched but couldn't turn anything up... the search seems to search signatures as well... (If Admin/mods are reading - you can turn sig searching off with Invision btw ) I like Auto Seiko's. Especially the monsters - who doesn't. Think I'd like to buy the 'baby monster', non diving seiko 5 below. There is a great ebay NOS watch dealer here in Aus (osmobiles) offering my next cheap gen purchase this one for AUD165. There is another of the same model, that even with P&H from Sing will save me AUD40... this one Both 'buy now', new, and either grey or NOS. I've bought from the Aus guy a couple times and know they're the real deal, but who can refuse saving 40 big ones? Thing is, they have different dial markings. Could just be Jap built Vs bulit somehwere else. So the question is - could the Sing one be a fake? Do they rep low-end Seiko's? I know they do g-shocks because they're funky and easy to rep, but it would seem strange to rep low-end Seiko's given that they are so resonably priced and superbly built. Thanks for looking and appreciate any advice/experience/opinion offerred. Australian Singaporean

Here's a really blurry shot of josh's ultimate, stock lume and uncharged - just wearing it indoors and taken in a dark corner Not sure why they say it's greeny-blue cos mine isn't. Though I will also have ETZ's V5 to compare when it arrives:

Comparo - Eurotimez V5 ETA vs. Eurotimez V5 DG2813
mastrmindalliance replied to jmb's topic in The Rolex Area
Hi, I've ordered the 2813 version too (inspired by jmb's post a few weeks ago). Wish I had of known there was an offer of the 4813 as well - doh. Could have used it to power my n00bmariner... Anyway, I've just received the email that says "Your order is in Process, it will take approx 2-5 (work)days before you will receive actual pictures from your watch." So mine should arrive in a month or so. So it will be good qualification of any manufacturing changes as jmb wondered above^. I already own Josh's "ultimate" (fantastically beautiful watch btw). And I plan to use the V5 to make a super SDDS from the two - supposedly the case and bracelet is better on the ultimate and the dial and pearl superior on the V5. I will of course use the ETA to power it and The Zigmeister lume job/service. Will report back here if anyone is interested. -
My day off today (wednesday) so going to take the new 113 out for a spin. Joshua outdid himself this time, 4 days to Aus! Had a win at the Melbourne cup yesterday so am going use to use my coffee-ing up time this morn to spend it. Hmmm maybe that oversized datejust I've had my eye on...
-
Hike, what model is that? It's the exact style I was looking for... Only I couldn't find it and ordered a 113 (same face but with no date). Is it 44mm? Anyway, I wore this IND gen gen today:

Straight out of the mail and into my heart IME this is a great example of replica. Sinn u1

Another Getat owner posted how hard it is to get a good pic of these. I agree, it really is. While the crystal has a blue-purple hue to it, it's definitely not AR. I'm completely in love with this watch.

How much do you spend on reps?
mastrmindalliance replied to lufcmattylad's topic in General Discussion
Well, I'm new here so not the best example but I've spent $1200 since starting in Ausgust this year. Yikes, that's really too much. I need slow down/get a grip/get help. I do some nice new watches though Edit: It's exactly $1126 USD on four watches, I have two more on the way that I didn't count. -
Hey, Does anyone have a link to the epoxy mod? I want to see how similar it is to mine. Also, can you mix just lume powder with epoxy and it will work? I believe the epoxy that won't yellow is the slow drying stuff. The local stuff here is called "Selleys Super Strength Araldite. Cheers!

Because this arrived the same day as my custom Getat, it's been overlooked. Going to give it some love today...

How good is a Noobmariner with DG2813 movement
mastrmindalliance replied to Chips81's topic in General Discussion
Yeh, the opinion seems split on the 2813 I've heard some are crap and some will run perfectly for a lifetime. Perhaps ^what jmb said is why...? Regardless mine was certainly advertised as a 2813. the rotor is very noisy, and when changing the date there is resistance when it clicks over, which fills me with concern. Everytime I change the date i'm thinking " oh, oh, it's going to break". To the OP, the other things with my n00b "2813" that concern are; that if you level the watch flat the second hand stops ticking! It also stops ticking if you tighten the screw in crown all the way (need to back it off about a quarter turn), and it seems to have only about a half hour power reserve. My (albeit n00bish - but with experience with the cheap 21j) advice, would be to cash out for the better movement. I guess the one caveat is that if it ever dies, to straight replace it (with another 2813) is easy, even for n00bs, with the right tools. Uou can buy them anywhere and they only cost about $15. -
How good is a Noobmariner with DG2813 movement
mastrmindalliance replied to Chips81's topic in General Discussion
I agree with all that's said above. My first rep was the noobmariner with a 2813. The movement is junk. The swap to a high beat movement is not for n00bs in the n00bmariner. So if i had the chance again i would have picked a better movemnent. Even if it was only the 4813. -
Hi, after reading your post and some more googling i turned this us. The link shows the flat 3 you mentioned as well as the squared off zero's as genuine. 0_o I'm still not convinced mine is genuine so I'm taking it in to my high-end watchsmith on wednesday (he's also a vintage dealer). He'll probably think I'm silly for asking but we get along well... Who know, maybe it'll turn out to be the real deal! I've removed the image above for now as it's not accurate. Sorry for the misinfo Edit: Its genuine hehe. Sorry.
-
Hopefully yeh. I've fixed the comparison image so it make more sense and fits the forum. The seller has responded saying "it must be genuine because no one has complained about all the others I've sold". Lol.
