  1. Aus to win the series. Domestic violence to increase to 100% in New Zealand.
  2. For me, it doesn't show out better. It gets buried. It might seems lo-fi but the bolded FS prefix always caught my eye. Now the new posts in sales don't. Just my opinion of course. But im not a hate change kinda guy. Everything else about the new system is awesome. Except the sales section. Is there some way to make them eye catch like they used to within the new system? Maybe we skin up FS posts as a contrasting colour to other new posts...
  3. Precisely. Being stand up about it on forum sales means acknowledging that the sale is private. That the seller in this case is not a merchant. Merchants build the cost into the price. It's still interesting that everyone else simply leaves the box checked as it is by default, but Americans largely to to uncheck it. My sales posts list "net to me" btw.
  4. Often it's the same here. Other times you will see a notice that reads "Credit cards incur a 3% surcharge". I guess even credit card are a bad comparison also. Perhaps a better comparison would be Forex trading. Anyway, my questions are answered. I know this is going way offtopic (but hey, it's my topic ) Interestingly I note that in the US there are ten states where credit card surcharges aren't allowed by law. I wonder if PP is allowed to charge fees in those those 10 states. The states are California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Oklahoma and Texas. Sorry, i thought it was obvious, i should have spelt out that I'm talking about personal payments only. For my question, no non-personal types of transactions were considered in my example.
  5. Yep seems cultural. I hadn't thought about it till now but my thoughts are as posted - the asking price should be delivered to the seller. I just deleted a paragraph about GST (good and services tax), because it's not an accurate example. A more accurate comparison would be credit card levies as you state... In Aus, this credit card fee is paid by the buyer on top of the net price. In fact, my experience when travelling in the US is the same, as the buyer (in America) I've always paid the fees for goods and services. Not the merchant.
  6. Thanks db2. Ok, so it's personal choice thing then. So now it's more a cultural question... I wonder why 10 out 11 Americans opt to make the seller pay the fees? If the asking price is $100, don't others find it cheeky or even dodgy when they only receive 96.50?
  7. Thanks for the input. So just to verify - you're in the US and you have the option to pay the fee or not, just like in my screenshot above? If so, does it default to buyer or seller pays the fee when you're paying someone?
  8. Yes you do. And i really appreciate it. I just tried out the "like" button. Works just like fb.
  9. Ahh ok. Well that makes perfect sense then. Seems weird that there would be no simple way as in my pic above. I'll be sure to meniton it for Americans in future. Have to give props to Asimplefarmer then. As he was the only one who actually paid the asking amount. Amazingly, he managed to work out the currency conversion and fee - and pay exactly the asking amount - to the cent.
  10. Hi, so after another Paypal transaction where I got hit with fees I went back and checked my transaction history from here and other places where I was the seller. Out of all these transactions from around the world there were eleven with Americans members. Of these eleven transactions - In ten of them I got hit with the fees rather than the buyer. In 17 other transactions with members from other countries the buyer always paid the fees... (Except for one fellow countryman - it was his very first PP transaction - he set up the account infact to purchase something from me. It was a noob mistake which he promptly rectified). Now, when I am the buyer, I always pay the fees. Because when someone lists a price, the price they state is the price to be paid. For example, if the buyer is asking for $100, it's doesn't mean $96.50 - it means $100. When I’m buying, I find it very hard to avoid because in the payment process there is a checkbox which is checked by default that the buyer pays the fees. You have to manually uncheck it for the seller to pay it. So it would seem that it is a deliberate action to lump the seller with the fees. Why this phenomenon with American buyers? Is it conscious decision? Or is the payment process different? As mentioned,in my experience, this is particular to American transactions. Everyone else does the right thing whether it's stated or not. Disclaimer: this is not directed at anyone in particular nor am I having a dig at Americans. I'm just wondering if this phenomenon is due to the American Paypal system. I see some people saying "+4%" instead 'buyer pays fees". Wondering if this is the problem.
  11. Gidday mate. How's ya bum for grubs? Welcome.
  12. In my 7750 it was the click spring (i think that's what it's called). It was a five minute fix.
  13. Here's a pic of the tex box problem: The other problem is impossible to post a a pic of. Say you make a typo or want to change a word... If you move the the cursor from where you're currently typing to somewhere else in your repy - it cannot be seen. Essentially, you have to delete the whole comment back to where you want to make the edit. The problem is intermittent.
  14. Lost my platinum saw you already fixed it - thank you sir.
  15. Ditto on the member status but other than that it seems pretty good. Nice and quick. Thanks for all the hard work admin. Oh, there are two other issues i've noticed. Disapearing cursur while typing and text box allignment for replies. I'm using FF 6.0.2. The text box is larger than the page and even though there's handles to resize it cannot be resized down to fit (this is 26in monitor 0_o)
  16. I bought mine from Josh, for $20 cheaper than Puretime.
  17. No probs at all. I know these laws for other reasons... but the only time I've ever used it was with a new mobile phone that died inside the 30 days. The retailer (optus shop) tried to do return to manufacturer - i stated the law. They then tried to pass off company policy as law. I told them company policy is not the law. Then they tried to pull out the one calendar month thing (was march 1 but only 29 days had passed). So i had to argue it was 30 days not one calendar month. So, just google the law before you go in and stand your ground. It can't be denied. Bam! brand new phone. They have to sort the warranty.
  18. Yes, but all disclaimers, deadlines and any other crap they try to pull is actually moot here. Consumer rights are heavily protected by law in Aus. This overides anything a company may say. Even if they try to say that by signing something it's essentially a contract - null. You only need to show one proof of purchase - a receipt or credit card statement is enough. We have implied or statutory rights as as consumers. For example. Your xbox 360 says 9 months warranty, your ps3 only 6 months. BUT, all electronic goods are covered by 12 months regardless. This is the law. Another electronic goods law we have is DOA. If you recieve a device that's DOA or dies within 30 days of purchase - just take it back. The retailer has to exchange for new on the spot. Of course they always try not to - or to try to tell you, you must return to manufacturer but just state the law and they will exchange. Also, a retailer can posts signs, print on reciepts etc. all they all want "no exchange or refund" but you can exchange or get refund for any item, for any reason (yep, even if you just change your mind) providing the goods are still new. No, they dont have to be in 'original packaging' as they often state. The original packaging (damaged or not) just has to accompany. I'll admit even as a consumer that some of these rules are unfair and even ridiculous for traders, but a lot of them do ensure that we receive goods that are exactly as described. Many consumers here dont know these rules of course.
  19. Make sure you get the latest one as these guys have two versions. It's easy to tell. You want the one with the 7750 movement. They are great looking watches and close to gen at a glance but suffer from build quality issues. The steel is very soft as well. The factory wont give out parts (not even whole parts like bracelet clasps or rotors) when they start to fall apart. As they frequently do. Having said that... The 328 is my current favourite rep, after a quick holiday back in China, and top of my gen want list.
  20. I like the green one. I hope they fix the dial on it sometime.
  21. Darn it. I just used all my my best limp wrist teases on this. l33t h4xx0r account jokes seem an odd choice at place where trading takes place.
  22. Exactly. Could have been funny if they owned up. Instead it was just a rainbow coloured prank of a gutless wonder. Well, whoever it was is a gigantic pansy with a nutsack the size of frozen peas.
