  1. That's cause he's had just about everything out there on his work bench at one time or another! The man's forgotten more than most of us will ever learn
  2. Excellent macros, gang! Those are some tight, detailed close ups! A few more....
  3. A couple of macros I've taken; some recent, some a few months old. Omega Planet Ocean franken: Rolex 16520 Daytona franken: IWC 3717 Flieger franken: If you have some macros to post, please share them! Cheers, //ubi
  4. Reps are more fun, a great basis for DIY projects and a good way to test drive certain watches before committing to 10x the price for gen.
  5. These are phenominal pieces. I'm waiting to see if they do a bracelet for the SS, or if they end up doing the PVD Black Stealth. If so, I may need to give in to temptation...
  6. P4- I love that last pic! Very nice! Saturday- Saturday eve- Sunday-
  7. I'll be sure to take care of you on the next go around! Thank you for getting us all the good stuff! I know I most certainly appreciate it!
  8. $4360.00 all said and done, which at the time was around 40% of what a gen 16520 T or U serial was selling for on the secondary market. Parts were acquired over the course of a year; when you pick up a part here or there, the impact to the wallet is a little less severe I saved costs on certain items- For example, the movement was sold to me a la carte, so I didn't have to purchase a donor watch just to get the movement (saved me around $600), and I did the work myself, so the labor only cost me my time. Genuine parts aren't the cheapest, but they produce the best end result, so if you plan on tackling something like this, all I can advise is to be patient and keep some money on hand. I oft times found that parts were difficult to find when I would actively hunt for them. Of course, they'd always turn up when I stopped looking for them, or when I was least prepared or expecting to buy Thanks asf!
  9. Business is booming, eh buddy? By the way... Any word on that other dial? I'll PM you...
  10. If you want a reliable Daytona, you could build one like mine (which is the one in the pic you added above). -El Primero 400 -Gen dial -Gen hands -Gen crown -Gen tube -Gen bezel etc. etc. It's expensive, but worthwhile as a fun project.
  11. What tools do you have already? If you are starting from scratch, I would say you'd need: -An assortment of jeweler's screwdrivers -#2 tweezers -Caseback tool/wrench -Bergeon #6 hand puller -Bergeon hand setting tool -Pithwood -Rodico -Dust blower -Finger cots -Dial protector -Movement pad Check out Watchbitz here on the forum (offshore). He'd be a good place to start for getting some good stuff...
  12. I believe EL charged more for them, as he was the one that helped get this rep into production from the start. He was the initiator of this particular piece, and the subsequent V2 and V3 watches are a benefitting result of that initiative. If it weren't for his efforts, we might have ended up with a 3717 that wasn't quite as good as what we have now.
  13. Nice work indeed! Takes a steady hand to do this stuff!
  14. Elliot was excised from Risti several years ago when he and JB had a major clashing conflict, and when he was trying to shill his stuff in the main forum. That's why he started ViaPaneristi- So he could have his own platform to sell his items in any way he wanted.
  15. My goodness. That is indeed a scary and stratling situation... I am glad to hear that you and your family are safe and okay! Any idea what the cause of the fire was?
  16. Indeed- The hands make for a much more aesthetically impacting difference than I had anticipated. The overall detail on the crisp, sharp edges and corners of the hands really stands out. Chief's amazing AR work on the crystal helps to provide even greater clarity to view these parts
  17. No one's asked subductress for pics yet! LOL
  18. Isn't that called a dickdo? You know... when the belly hangs out farther than the dickdo? Think I learned that one from Rob...
  19. 16520 today... Have a great weekend, all!
  20. The Narikaa PO is a great value for the money. Excellent quality watch with great fit and finish for a very reasonable sum in exchange. Some small flaws and inaccuracies, but overall a very solid product. At this price point, it is very hard to beat! If you're after a 45mm PO, you may want to search under uPO, which is an acronym for 'Ultimate Planet Ocean'. These are the top of the line for the 45mm, and are also a good starting point. Several members have modified their watches with gen parts; everything from crystals, dials, hands, crowns, tubes, etc. This is a watch you can expand upon. The 42mm 4th generation is the model I chose- My wrists are not very large, so the smaller case wears more comfortably than the 45mm for me. The 4th generation has a good number of the small details correct, like size and placement of the He valve, correct case size, and the ability to accept gen parts. However, things like the dial, hands, bezel, etc are all candidates for improvement. With this in mind, I modified mine with genuine hands, dial, bezel complete, ETA 2892 datewheel, genuine bracelet, etc. The end product is a very accurate PO, but the cost at this point is encroaching on pre-owned gen territory. I cut my project off at the 60% mark of what gen would cost on the secondary market; any more than that, and I just can't justify the cost. @P4- Thanks for the kind words buddy Cheers! //ubi
