  1. Nice set of starters! Wondering what you have for closers! Great collection! LOTS of gen goodies!
  2. I figured as long as I was breaking rule #1, I'd go ahead and break some of the other basic cardinal rules when it comes to reps as well
  3. Oft times, Ofrei has surplus stock on movements. No telling how old, or what kind of service history they have. They may be good to roll out of the plastic container case (I've had good success with his movements), but an overhaul may be a good idea sooner than later just to give you a good baseline and overall view on condition.
  4. This is my favorite rep to wear into ADs, which I like to pass off as gen: This is my favorite rep to post on gen forums, which I like to pass off as gen: This is my favorite rep to wear to gen GTG's, which I like to pass off as gen: This is my favorite rep to wear in public, which I like to pass off as gen to random passersby and misc. acquaintances: This is my favorite rep to list on eBay, which I like to pass off as gen: Not really
  5. Good info and knowledge. With so many different variations of movements, Swiss, Asian, 21600bph, 28800bph, the world of semantics can get quite muddy very quickly.
  6. Well, what is it they always say? Third time's the charm? That may very well be the case... Initially my 3717 started off as an unmodified EL 100, procurred in a trade with fellow member and all around good guy Tutima. Great watch in it's own right, but as per usual, I just couldn't leave well enough alone. I just had to swap in some ETA day/date wheels into my new watch, which was the catalyst for some additional unplanned work. After drawing from some misfortune and lack of success with installing my Swiss DD wheels, my watch took a rather sudden and unexpected turn for even more mods. During this down time, a new Swiss movement was kindly and generously gifted to me by kruzer, along with a new crystal that had been treated by chieftang; also gifted to me by Lanikai. The afore mentioned DD wheels accompanied this package and went up North to the very capable hands of The Zigmeister to work his magic. During this time, the dial and hands were relumed, and were modified to fit the Swiss 7750; crystal swapped and new movement fitted. At this point, the watch returned home for a few months, where I enjoyed the new motor swap and aesthetic changes. However, it wasn't long before the watch was due to have it's caseback popped open yet a third time; Concepta offered up a paired set of genuine dial and hands that would take this watch to the next level for me. Of course, I had to jump on this opportunity. I also wanted something just a tiny bit different; a slight and subtle change, but one that I find myself enjoying every day when I look down at my watch. Just a small touch of Deutch, which gives my new 3717 a fun bit of character And here we are today... My reborn 3717, back on the granite and on the wrist. It's nice to have it back If you guys need to find me, I'll be over on cloud 9 for a while Thanks for looking! //ubi
  7. Nice start to a good project. You need: -ETA 2846 (slow beat movement; correct for a watch of this serial/reference production) -Taller hour/min/sec pinions -Stilty ring -Tudor hands (stick/DateJust style 90/150/25) -6mm Twinlock crown -Case clamps That should get you going... Hope this helps. //ubi
  8. The case used for my black dial shares the same dimensions as my white dial 16520.
  9. The EP400/Ebel 134 that's in my white dial 16520 came a la carte; no watch to dismantle or part out to procure the movement on that one. They do turn up every now and then, though it's been a year or so since I've seen one for sale in this manner. The El Primero 3019/400 was a movement that had to be sourced from a complete watch: This is an older movement, but still beats at 36000bph; I also made sure to get the 31j version (there are some 17j variations out there, I seem to recall). Due to the age, I had Zigmeister give it an overhaul prior to putting it to use. The black dial 16520 has a non-genuine mid case, though the dial, bezel, etc. are gen. So, parts are definitely out there... Though I do think a gen dial is a must for this kind of project.
  10. This... ...is just mind blowing! Man, that is one amazing looking watch!
  11. Fantastic watch, and congrats on the prize! Good stuff!
  12. If cost is no issue, I suggest either gen, or building...
  13. Hmmm. That's odd. I've seen numerous 16600, 16610, 16520, 116520s, etc, etc. that have the crown without crimps.
  14. Nice work on a first build! Looks good!
  15. In person, they are very, very thick and quite substantial. Excellent quality in finish and detail...
  16. I've not seen the rep dial, but the gen dials are very, very nice.
  17. The style you have pictured are not rare by any means. Visit your local AD and check out the 7mm crowns on the sport models they have in stock
  18. 1560 w/ butterfly rotor... A little early for a 1680, but might make for an interesting 1016/1500/1601/1675/5512 project.
  19. This crown is gen: You and I both know that the only consistent thing with Rolex is their lack of consistency
  20. The big difference that really stands out to me is the integreated bezel. Notice on the gen how flat/wide the top surface/face of the lip is, and how the bevel is relatively steeper/more angled as a result. The rehaut looks a little shallower on the gen as well. None the less, I've got mine on order and will see how it looks/wears when it arrives.
