Project build; 16610LV

Picked up a nice, gen 93250 clasp on the cheap; paid under $100 as it didn't have the diver's extension. As luck would have it, my clasp code is 'CL' (2004), which fits in with the rest of my build. I would have been happy with any clasp date, but this was just icing on the cake!- 76 replies

Both dials look to be CWP dials; the serif fonts being the key indication there. Some other vendors sell/offer this dial as well...

Who's got the best (franken) sub? Lets See em'
ubiquitous replied to wiseguy1481's topic in The Rolex Area
Thank you, gents; kind words appreciated as always. Though if I may say... I think the best Sub for anyone is the one that makes them happy, despite whether the details are close/correct or not. If the watch on your wrist makes you smile... Then that is really all that matters in the end, right? No doubt about it, there are a lot of great watches held by forum members... Lots of excellent pieces! 5 years ago, the rep world would be chomping at the bit to have the quality and accuracy of the watches we have today; we've come a long way in a short time... gpl- I'm using a 6 year old Rebel EOS w/ 55mm macro lens. There's nothing really tremendous or great about the camera, but I've found that lighting is everything. For my pics, I shoot with natural light only... I use a northern facing window which is comprised of glass blocks, so that helps diffuse the light a bit. I split my time working at the office and working from home, so oft times between conferrence calls I'll try and grab some quick pics when I can (but am finding that I rarely get the opportunity anymore). Hence you see a lot of recycled images from me these days For grins, and even though I no longer have them, I thought these were a lot of fun as well... Does Anyone actually prefer 116610 over 16610?
ubiquitous replied to By-Tor's topic in The Rolex Area
Through the years, the Submariner's design has always been an evolution. With the new 116610 however, it seems to be more of a revolution than anything. Personally, I have not warmed up to the new case, despite the improvements (both aesthetic and mechanical). I think most of it (to me) is how imbalanced the case/bracelet combination is. Seems that Rolex is trying to follow the trends of the watch world instead of simply doing what they do best. -
Who's got the best (franken) sub? Lets See em'
ubiquitous replied to wiseguy1481's topic in The Rolex Area
My interest in Rolex comes and goes. Right now it's at a down trend, so I only have these two as far as Subs go. COMEX 5514 non-logo: -Genuine Rolex 1520, serviced and overhauled by The Zigmeister. -Genuine Rolex 5513 dial; original and untouched. -Genuine Rolex 5513 Submariner Lumi hands, relumed in a vintage tone by The Zigmeister. -Genuine 25-19 crystal. -Genuine fat font tritium insert. -Genuine bezel. -Genuine 703 crown (waiting to be installed). -Genuine 7030 tube (waiting to be installed). -Phong case -Genuine 2mm rolex springbars. 16610LV Put this one together as a casual activities piece; unfortunately, 1940's era Patek are not waterproof, so I needed something that could survive some fun with the kids. The PP serves office duty and the LV serves Summer beater. The 5514 above also gets it's fair share of under water duty, but the more resilient sapphire crystal works better as a beater. -TC case -Genuine 16610 ‘Maxi’ dial -Genuine 16610 ‘Maxi’ hands -Genuine 16610LV insert -Genuine Rolex caliber 3135 -Genuine 704 crown/tube -Genuine 295C (older style w/o laser etch @ 6:00) -Exhibition caseback -
