  1. 1978... One year younger than me! An absolute treasure, and it fits your collection perfectly. Although... I think you have some other beauties to show as well, no? Like a certain piece with new hands and a shield?
  2. George, I agree- Your heart is in the right place, but in this day and age, folks are probably taking extra precautions and erroring on the safe side of things regarding adult interaction with kids. Speaking as a parent, I know I always get a little cautious when it comes to my own little pipsqueaks. Did you approach the library from the start to let them know what your intent was up front?
  3. I think I can handle the orange/blue Still hoping for the vintage AT!
  4. Absolutely beautiful... Hard to pick a favorite out of the three- They are all quite amazing...
  5. I will have to go and check that out! Thanks for the heads up, DD13!
  6. There's no guarantee you will get what you pay for with a pre-service from the dealer. You'll likely expect a full service tear down; what you might end up with is a swish and dip, or worst case, no actual servicing/overhaul at all.
  7. The thing with Rolex/Tudor is that there is always something new to learn or discover. It's a constant education process; I'm finding that I'm always learning something new every day...
  8. George- for some reason, I thought you were in the EU? Anyway... I'm watching the vids now...
  9. I agree, TMG. The VN and HK dials have a lot to be desired- Wrong fonts, spacing, etc. Personally, I think the MBK dial actually looks better than either the HK or the VN...
  10. Looks like a great start to the project! Should turn out nicely, especially with a 1570 inside!
  11. You know, that's actually a pretty nice watch. There are two very well executed details that really stand out to me on this- The pearl, which looks pretty good in it's own right (but maybe too 'pearlescent' compared to gen), and the lume on the markers, which looks correct- Kind of like snow packed in the indicies (not glossy lume like the reps usually have). Swap out the hour hand for one of better shape, and I'd say it's pretty good. Maybe not 100% perfect compared to gen, but still a fun piece!
  12. 2nd the Bergeon or similar caseback tools- Worth the money, especially if more case opening/closing is in your future
  13. You have to go gen on the insert. Nothing compares...
  14. I have to agree... That buckle is worth the price alone...
  15. gavidoc- I'd agree, except the differences in lume are specific to the manufacturer of the dials. LePrelet have lume applied in a different manner: The above are both LP dials. Yours are more characteristic of Beyeler. And I should clarify that my comment on lume was only regarding the dial. Hands look fine (I agree with you there).
  16. I hate to say it, but that's gotta be one of the most beautiful paperweights I've ever seen...
  17. If you press the crown in and turn counter-clockwise, you should feel a point where the threads catch and give a sort of 'click' feel. Once you feel this click, the threads should be lined up and ready to be screwed down clockwise.
  18. Just received mine the other day; nicely done! I especially like the buckle. MX up top... Dirk Logo on bottom... The buckle may find it's way onto a strap project sometime down the road, methinks
  19. Ahhh... 806. Classic. Would love one of the old AOPA's...
