  1. My favorite are the gen owners that actively bash replicas and their owners, but actually have a number of reps in their own collections. The type that talk trash about the very people they call 'friends' on the rep forums while chumming around with all their gen buddies.
  2. If you have a watchmaker that you trust, I would recommend going that route. That way you know the level of work/quality going into an overhaul of your movement.
  3. Thank you, sir. Gotta keep trying different things I do love vintage Rolex very much... But I think one can only do so many of them after a while before it all starts to feel somewhat cyclical (at least to me). So, I've been trying to expand my interests, not just within the hobby of horology, but applying that approach to other aspects in life as well
  4. Past and present… These are the ones I could think of off the top of my head. I've done a number of other builds for others, and there are some I've forgotten about. 5. I'll be there in just a week or so! Hope to see this one while visiting
  6. Well, the movement is cased, dial and hands fitted; the small seconds hand was sitting at 0:59 instead of 0:00 in the images. I took the pics with the movement unwound. I'm really looking forward to getting this one back with a fresh baseline for service Thanks, K-man!
  7. It's not bad... But it's not gen. Will it do the job? Absolutely. But it doesn't have the details that the gen does. Here's the one I gave away... No crimping, no wide base chamfer... But overall, it will certainly do the job if need be.
  8. Thank you kindly, legend and GBOGH. Much appreciated. And you are correct; the small subsidiary dial is in fact running seconds. Watch is currently in the process of getting fresh oil and some other work done up north. From what I have heard thus far, it needed some attention!
  9. That's a good way to get the post count up, M.
  10. 702 tube should fit the same case hole as a 703. They should have the same diameter and pitch.
  11. For what it's worth, my 5514 case came with a Phong 702 fitted. It along with the tube were both good quality, but just not gen so I swapped it out. I think I gave that crown away as well.
  12. If I had a spare to give you Diesel, I would. I gave most of my extra 702s away last year though, and all I have left are two for my backups I concur with the grizzly hunter; 702 is definitely the tops in my book. 702 with a 703: Notice how much larger/wider the bottom fluting is with the crimped edges: Crown and tube; it's the profile that does it for me: From the top, it almost looks like a sunflower with the 'cut ins' from the knurling: What's not to love?
  13. That's a great looking Chanelerai! Must have made it for the guys who like the J12 but don't want to be seen wearing one...
  14. Not to fear; I am sure it is due to arrive soon. 3.5 weeks in the system, it's gotta be getting close! For what it's worth, I've had First Class mail take over 3 weeks to arrive domestically within the U.S. (non-International); I've had Int'l EMS take just as long sometimes and often with puzzling transit routes (i.e. travelling over 1000 miles in the complete opposite direction before turning around and making it's way to it's destination). The strangest was when an item passed through customs twice into the U.S.; arrived first at the SFO ISC (in and out of customs) and then forwarded on to the JFK ISC (in and out of customs again). Puzzling... But the item arrived without incident, so I just chalk it up as some sort of fluke I guess they don't call it snail mail for nothing, eh?
  15. I believe there's a pretty good shot of Peter Fonda's GMT in Easy Rider when he's snorting a line of coke off a motorcycle mirror...
  16. Case looks like an NDT to me; some characteristic details like the lugs and engraving font that make me suspect as much.
  17. If you think setting a slow set date is fun, you should try slow set day + date! That's a good time...
