That is an odd one... 3035 in a 16610 case? I was thinking it would be neat to do a 16800 with a WM9 case and matte dial... Nice thing about the 3035 and 3135 is that the dials swap freely between the two. Though I suppose the rehaut might be a bit tall for a 16800...

For a 1500, you'd want a 2836, 2846 or 2783. The 2783 works best with a non-date build since the ETA DW sits a bit lower than the top plate on the movement; it's difficult to get the overlay to sit correctly on those. If using a 1002 or 5500 case, a 2824 fits best, as those models are no-date to begin with. The 2824 and 1520 share the same stem height.

Things are starting to take shape! First and foremost, jmb did a knock out job on the bezel! I couldn't believe my eyes when I pulled it from the envelope today... Really just amazing what he can do with a lathe! The man's got skills! The bezel was test fitted using a Clark's crystal which is temporary for the time being for test fitting/mock up purposes. Custom bezel fabricated by jmb with LHOOQ's measurements: The 1570 sans calendar components fit the case perfect with the stem lining up center. I still need to fit a tube, but this gives an idea of alignment. This is what I like to see: Stem nice and centered: 1570 nice and snug in it's home: Dial side up: Just waiting on a couple more parts... Completion is in sight...

Zenith Rainbows are quite possibly one of the best values for the money... In house caliber, great looks and within reasonable cost (especially for pre-owned). Rainbow Flyback The watch in the URL is the same as the one chief posted (unfortunately, already sold, but a good example of what to look for).

MBW did produce a 1675, but unlike the 1665 and 5513 cases they make, it is not quite as good. I think the 1655 from Jos is the best choice for this one...

I remember seeing that case posted a few times over on vrf. I agree with Chi- Though it looks like the majority of the critical corrosion is on the caseback and not the case. The good news is it can be replaced. The bad news is, it's not gonna be cheap. Combined with everything else needed for the build... It's gonna add up pretty quickly.

I do not know about retrofitting a V23 into a case intended for a 7750; physically the movement will fit (the V23 is 13''' in diameter, whereas the 7750 is 13.25'''), but it's likely that the stem will not line up in the tube. I do know that a V23 will swap in with a DW mystery movement case, however...

It's been done... In fact, I know a couple of people who have done that exact movement swap...

Hmmm... 38mm fit her wrist quite nicely, methinks! Shortly after she rec'd it, the case took a hard impact and cracked the case She was heartbroken, so, I ended up replacing it with a 33mm (which she also loves)... She's going on 2 years with the 33mm, and knock on wood, it's wearing nicely! No breaks or cracks and the finish of the ceramic is still smooth and glossy... I have to say, I'm quite impressed (cause she's not exactly gentle with her watches)!

What's really pathetic are the guys who start with reps, move on to gens and then start looking down on rep owners as inferior individuals because they wear and own 'fakes'. Sad, shallow people those are...
