  1. Definitely- Gen is not much more than a build. Make the stretch to a gen...
  2. Lani's alive! Good to see you around, buddy!
  3. Here are my current forum favorites: chieftang's beautiful FM franken with gen dial done up in Zigmeister lume: opcrown's very amazing 203/A: another vote for watchmeister's PAM28 franken: and an unknown, unfinished AP Barrichello II franken that bricciola is working on:
  4. I believe the Seamaster you are speaking of is the 2531.80? Box and paper examples seem to be around the $1250 to $1500 range. No B&P's sell for around $900 - $1000 it seems.
  5. Hmmmm... How loose is the hand when you go to fit it to the pinion? Maybe possible that you have a set of hands for the automatic (i.e. OPIII based on the V7750)? Kind of a stretch, but the 6497's minute hand is 115; the V7750's is 120. If you have a digital caliper and can mic it, that might clear it up pretty quickly. I'm under the presumption that the hour hand fits okay? If the hand is indeed for the manual and the hole is just a little big, you can probably have it reduced using a collet... EDIT: The 6497 and 7750 hour hands are the same size (2mm/200), so if you did have a set of hands for an auto, the hour hand would actually fit. 6497: 115/200/27 7750: 120/200/26
  6. MBWs serials varied- I have an old MBW 1665 case here with serial 5790134.
  7. mjmj is correct; 1665 case does not have the POLEX designation at 12:00; only the 5513 and '1680' (same as the 5513) case. Brightight- Your's is an MBW/MBK case.
  8. That's because the stems are hardened and annealed. But it can be done; I've had 6497 stems turned down by Zigmeister to fit gen Panerai auto crowns; he does do it on a lathe, however...
  9. Whoa... HUGE congrats! That is one serious chunk of metal! That's not just a watch... It's an instrument! Enjoy the new acquisition!
  10. Just think of the price he'd be asking if he had the caseback to go with it!
  11. Off the top of my head, no. Most 6497 stems are tap 6; Rolex uses tap 10 crowns and stems. You could, in theory take a 6497 stem and have it turned down and threaded to fit a tap 10 crown however.
  12. Here's some pics to compare... Hope this helps! //ubi
  13. I've not seen a Tiffany & Co. where the o was raised and underlined. Usually it's just the small o on the same line followed by a period.
  14. Pffffft. That's nothing. I've seen Nanuq inflict more damage on a watch at a fraction of the effort. That guy's a freaking noob.
  15. Whoa. I didn't see the Int'l ship rate. Still, I'm sure one of our trusted US members here would help proxy ship...
  16. If not, you guys should definitely check it out. Basically, it's a series of albums, each of which can be created by members. Within these albums, images of the watches in your collection can be uploaded. You can then add a link to your sig that links to your specific album where others can go and view what's currently in your watchbox. For example, here's my watchbox. Cool, no?
  17. T- The gen 1655 and 1675 cases are a bit different. The 1675 has a thinner profile, CGs are more upturned on the bottom and rehaut is much more shallow. Also, the 1675 uses the 5.3mm crown while the 1655 uses the 6mm crown.
  18. Hate to bump this one again, but.... New caseback has been added. Turned out pretty good, methinks.
  19. Amazing work! The finish on that is unreal. Great pics!
  20. 5514 franken for the time being, until I can get to the safe deposit box to get the rest of my watches...
  21. for 2836/2846/2834/2824/2783 I have ALWAYS released the stem in the time setting position. Never any problems. I've had more issues releasing the stem in the winding position...
