  1. To be honest, I feel that gen bezels have become way overpriced. True, nothing beats gen, but you will have to really know what you are doing to tell a gen from the bezel posted by Donerix above (if the ebay pictures are indeed correct). A gen bezel is the icing on the cake for sure, similar to gen pushers, but nothing as quintessential as a gen dial on a V72 build in my opinion. I have seen very, very good aftermarket versions from some Italian sellers (similar to the bezel posted above) and a lot of high quality bezels on various markets sold as gens. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to vintage Cosmosgraphs and I don't think I'd shell out today's asking prices if I were to build another V72 Daytona.
  2. Sounds great, could you post some pics?
  3. They are pinned in the watch sales forum.
  4. Who in their right mind would buy a high value item like this based on some pics and few words from someone who has contributed absolutely nothing to this forum and registered a few days ago? Please delete all these messages, they are clearly against forum rules and nothing good will come from them imo.
  5. Is it just me or doesn't he really seem to be very passionate about his watches? To me this just looks like a ordinary promotion event he had to attend reluctantly. "Every Rolex tells a story? - Yeah, absolutely." ... SS Datejust during training? Sure...
  6. Same here, every single parcel I receive from overseas gets inspected, it's ridiculous, German customs is a real pain.
  7. Great work, beautiful piece!
  8. VERY nice, congratulations,beautiful build!
  9. I have a DW mystery case lying around which had a V726 fitted, in case someone is interested.
  10. If you decide to not keep it, I might be interested in the bezel insert.
  11. Akira, as someone who's been there, don't spend too much to save this thing, just get a decent movement and save yourself the disappointement...
  12. Great stuff, looking forward to the finished product!
  13. Gorgeous, congrats, much better imo as well! Interested in a Racing Dial? P.S. Honestly, I miss my Speedy! We can make this work, shot me a PM
  14. The thing I hate PayPal for is that you as a seller are forced to pay their ridiculously high fees (ever sold a high value item internationally - say hello to 100€+ fees) while the only one being "protected" is the buyer. There are plenty of horrible stories on gen boards as well. Buyers just claimed they received an aftermarket part instead of gen, were then told to destroy the "fake" item (which of course they never did) and the refunded their money without any proof. Imagine that happening to you on a high value item...
  15. Great work from all those involved, I really admire your attention to detail, an amazing project once again!

I think 77/78 will already have triplock crowns, only very early 70s models were issued with twinlocks. Generally speaking I would expect all versions with red Daytona printing to have triplock crowns installed (74/75).
  17. Nice review and thanks for the pictures, especially the wristie. I also have a 6.5 inch wrist so it's nice to see that a 15300 fits well. The next one in the sales corner from the EU will definitely have my name on it. Enjoy your RO and have fun at that party!
  18. Thanks for the explanation, will definitely try that when I put the finishing touches on my current project.
  19. Beautiful watch, great looking inserts, could you elaborate a little more on how you did that? I'd get pearls for the inserts, the ones you can fill yourself so you can match the patina of the lume, maybe gen relumed Tudor hands or have the current ones relumed (again to match the hour markers). I always feel like the aftermarket mercedes hand look a little bit pointy compared to gen ones, but maybe that's just me, I'm absolutely no experts on them, though.
  20. Great stuff Valty, thanks for this amazing work!

    6263

Yup, LHOOQ is right, 6240 was the first one, but the case is different (a little bit smaller). There are also two case versions of earlier and later 6263/6265 with the earlier one having slightly shorter lugs. I think the first 6263/6265 came out in the very early 70s and they always had screwdown pushers on these models.
  22. Yup, very nice indeed, where did you get these pushers? Stock DW?
