+1, what a disappointment.

Congratulations, wonderful piece! Enjoy!

I'm sorry, but 10% won't work for me. That's basically the same discount he is offering when you buy outside of ebay from him, he will have to do better than that on a group buy.

RWG 6265 6263 vintage Daytona build tutorial!

Wow, I'm speechless... amazing! -
Well, if it is in a condition a skilled watchmaker could fix it up to COSC specs it's a perfectly fine movement imo, even if this wasn't possible there would still be many takers. You will probably recoup about 2/3 of a decent donor watch for a 1570 with the sale and that's the movement you need for your next build. I wouldn't keep a spare 1520 atm, spare parts are still available pretty easily so collecting donor movements just for parts isn't really necessary yet. I wouldn't just start building a watch around your 1520 just because you have a spare one lying around either. They aren't hard to come by and if you decided after your 1570 build that you want another non-date you won't have any problems getting another one. Also another non-date build after a just completed 5513 to me doesn't sound too exciting, I'd sell it on and start collecting parts for the build you really want, a 1680 or 1665.

Wow, wonderful build! Your projects always are a true inspiration to me. Did you run into problems fitting the gen bezel onto the MBW retaining ring? I bought a complete bezel from RSC recently, but somehow it doesn't snap onto the retaining ring, it's too tight. At least I can't get it on with my hands and I'm afraid to damage the bezel ring, if I press any harder. Did you have to sand the retaining ring down a little?

Great job, my SBS 5513 says hello! I have a very similar setup, except for an Ingod dial and gen crystal. Omega seems to have altered the SM300 hands, I remember ordering mine from Ofrei instead of cousins, because they still had the older style hand when I built mine. I'd bleach the insert a little, add a Yuki pearl and match hands, dial and pearl color. After that you'll be pretty much set and have the best possible ETA-powered Milsub.

Acceptable gen 16523s are way more than 4-5k, prices of 16528s are in a totally different league...

I'd be interested in a box for 4 watches, I'm in Germany though.

Looking for input on this dial Dial Impressions

Good looking dial, really accurate. Personally I don't like PNs (yes, I said it ), but I'd certainly be willing to drop a lot on this one if I did. -
One more vintage PP for the collection...

RWG 6265 6263 vintage Daytona build tutorial!

Wow, great find! Looking forward to pictures of the finished build! -
That meters first sub is amazing!

I think that's an amazing idea. I'd be happy to pay a $100 deposit. I need a 5513 without HEV, though.

You can buy modern bracelets from every AD, prices have skyrocketed in recent years though (incl. one 100 percent price increase in 2010 or 2011). $1200 for a new one sealed sounds about right.

Very cool project! Keep us posted, I'd love to see some decent V726 bridges

comprehensive list of good watch brands around $1000 price band
wiesn089 replied to totalwise's topic in Other Brands Area
+1 on Hamilton and Seiko. You can also get some nice Longines for $1000 with discounts. -
34mm is awfully small. I don't think it's a suitable mens size anymore and I tend to wear smaller watches. 36mm is a different story, but imo 34mm will always look like you just bought the cheapest vintage "name" brand you could find...

Thanks! It's a MBW 5513 case with CGs shaped by Highoey and modified by JMB with fixed Springbars. Both did an outstanding job, it really looks very, very accurate and even has correct MOD engravings on the caseback. Partswise it has a serviced slow-beat ETA 2846 ticking inside, gen modified Omega Seamaster 300 hands relumed to match the lume color of the Ingod Milsub dial. Gen crown, tube and crystal are also installed as is a bleached CWP 60 minute insert with Yuki pearl. The strap is a Phoenix watch strap, the original supplier for the British MOD in admiralty grey. This build was meant to be a test run for a super franken 5513 milsub. I wanted to see how much I'd really enjoy it before spending more. I love it and currently I'm gathering parts for a Cal. 1520 powered franken with gen dial etc. Until then this one's getting A LOT of wrist time!

Here's a 42mm Speedy Pro and a 40mm Milsub on my 6.5 inch wrist. Sorry for the crappy Speedy pic. I don't wear watches larger than 42mm. Without bezel I stick to everything 40mm and under as they tend to wear considerably larger. I'm really looking forward to the new 40mm Ingenieur and would love to try on a 15202 or 15300 Royal Oak to see how they will fit on my pretty flat wrist. Here's a 37mm 6265 and a 37mm Seiko SARB033 for comparison.

"Hess Fine Auctions" presents a very crazy Franken....
wiesn089 replied to scott60's topic in The Rolex Area
I wouldn't touch this thing, look at that bottom left lug it's polished to about half the size of the other ones... -
Yup, $2000 sounds fair, I wouldn't spend more than that. A lot to be done there if you want something really convincing, better bezel, gen clasp, dial at some point...
