  1. Hi Gregor! PT's 1680 imho is the best available, his meters first dial is probably as good as it gets right now.
  2. Two of my favorite things, Porsche and a vintage Daytona! Great stuff S!
  3. Hi! I know I've read it on here already, but who else than PT is offering his 1680 meters first and does ship from within Europe? I can't find the thread, sorry. I need the case for a project and like to have a meters first dial as well. Thanks Please delete, as I've found out a PT case won't fit the dial I was going to use.
  4. Great job, great write-up, amazing watch, I love the case back! Stunning!
  5. 6263, 16520 or 116520? Here's some great 19mm straps, and the quality of these is supposedly very good as well. I've been thinking about getting one of these beautiful Di-Modell 19mm straps for my 6265 from ukwatchstraps, haven't had the time yet though.
  6. There's plenty of info concerning this topic available here, you will really have to do a lot of reading when you want to do one of these right. Standard mods are, crown and crystal and his bracelet is also awful so you might want to consider one of Yuki's. The case accepts all genuine parts so sky is the limit. Mine is currently fitted with a gen crown, crystal, bracelet as well as a genuine dial.
  7. Well, that's what happened at the first AD I called (a fairly big chain). I knew that the bracelets were way cheaper as I had ordered one a year ago from a watchmaker friend who isn't able to get parts anymore. I couldn't believe my ears when I was told the amount they were charging, so I called another AD (again a big chain) who was asking half of what the first one told me. I guess it was store policy or they had the new bracelet prices introduced already (they supposedly went up 50-100% recently).
  8. The 78350 I bought a few months ago was considerably more expensive at one place. I don't know whether he just got the price wrong or was trying to take advantage of me, I went someplace else and bought it 50% cheaper.
  9. Your best bet is an AD, most of them will order one for you no questions asked. Just give them a call, some may even have one in stock, no idea about prices however. It pays to shop around, prices tend to vary greatly. Good luck.
  10. I wear my V72 6265 almost daily, it's a great watch, why would you buy/build one if you are not going to wear it regularly?
  11. Try Wempe or another big retailer, that's where I sourced my last gen bracelet a few months ago.
  12. From those on your list my vote goes to a GMTIIC as well, though I myself would go for a nice 5512 or something like that. Vintage Rolex are pure class and when you buy one in good condition you won't loose any money if you decide to sell it sometime in the future. I'm not sure about the toughness of this DLC treatment, might look pretty ugly after a few years with a few dings on it...
  13. I too believe that this is just a new name for the mystery movement. Stay away, better run in the opposite direction and don't EVER buy this POS!
  14. Unfortunately I don't, but there's a very favorable review of the new metal bracelet version 5711-1A PP "Nautilus" floating around here somewhere. If you want the grey dial you will be stuck with the leather strap because PP only supplied the white gold versions this way. If you are drawn to the blue dial your only option is the bracelet because that's the only way gens are available from Patek. I like the grey version better, keep in mind though that the gen is white gold while the blue version is SS. You will hardly encounter anyone who has seen let alone handled one in the flesh so that should not be too much of a deal.
  15. Patek 5711G is a great dresswatch. The new ones are very close to the real deal. Here's a gen: Doesn't get more classy than that imo!
  16. I'd definitely do that. Don't risk getting disappointed or having to spend a hell lot of money on repairs. The silver dial looks better accuracy-wise imo. Getting these right doesn't come cheap, but it's well worth it in the end. You might want to consider a gen crown and crystal, too.
  17. Cool project, let us know how it turns out!
  18. Definitely 3, but only because I've already got a black 6265. Imo the standard dials work much better on these, they are quite dressy, while the Newmans tend to look a little bit too clownish for my taste.
  19. I think the seller just made a mistake. The dial looks like a normal post-production dial pictured in Stefano Mazzariol's book. These were manufactured from 1991 on apparently.
