  1. Hard to say without pictures. Make sure the little case clamps are under whatever rim exists for them in the case. This will keep the movement from falling out. Make sure the movement ring actually fits the case so the movement can't slide from side to side. For the stem, be careful. If the movement is not lining up don't force it too much.
  2. Great post! I just ordered the ZF v2 since this is a gen I've wanted forever.
  3. Hey Nightwatch, Shoot me a PM. I have a beautifully modded version of the phong/yuki that I can talk to you about. Cheers.
  4. This works as engineer humor and lawyer humor.
  5. Normally, I would want a power reserve indicator on the dial for an 8-day, but this is a the rare exception where it works better without. Nice watch!
  6. That looks great! Agree on the strap--what is it?
  7. I have some of BD's texture work on a Fifty Fathoms and it is nice. In this case the dial is actually old so I just need the lume. Does Vac do a good job on Rolex? Should I pull it out and send it to a gen restorer?
  8. Assuming that the great man from the great white north is out of the game, who is currently recommended for vintage lume application? The dial is a gen 5513 "pre-comex" where the original lume has been removed (paint still there). It's on a gen movement but in an HH case that has this funny word COMEX on the back. I can remove the dial but would prefer to be able to send the whole watch, so prefer someone rep friendly. Thanks as always.
  9. Movement doesn't look too bad considering, but what does the Seventy Hours refer to? Seven days is a lot more than seventy hours. Is that on the gen?
  10. Colors look like the good old Fuji Velvia days. What adjustments did you make? I avoid raw since I know I will take some crappy pic and then spend six hours playing around with it.
  11. Holy [censored]! how are you doing the micro pitting DB?
  12. I ordered the cheap strap and swapped it out for a standard Camile Cournet gator. Here's a crappy iPhone shot if it will attach...
  13. Mine arrived last week. This is certainly the best of the dress reps that I can think of. It's much thinner than I anticipated and wears just a bit smaller. I find the size just right. Quality seems very high. The case sits very securely in the "carriage" but still moves nicely. The engraving is very gen-like. Buckle is very good. The quartz movement is interesting. I was concerned that it might tick loudly, like a swatch. But it is completely quiet in part because it only ticks about once every 10 seconds. This results in a relatively big movement of the minute hand, but there is no way it can be noticed on such a small watch face. Time keeping is perfect. On the whole I think this is a perfect solution to get the thinness. If you like the looks, don't worry at all about the movement. The strap sucks of course.
  14. Troll or not, if he hangs around he'll end up dropping a couple grand on a Phong build within a year.
  15. I waked around Costco with a tank top showing her off...LOL.
  16. I ordered one the moment I could. Figure this is a rare enough bird to take the chance. No QC pictures yet.
  17. When these things are 10K it's like "boy it would be nice to have one of those." When they hit 30K it's "wish I'd bought one when they were cheap." Once they hit 100K or a million it's "what kind of complete idiot would buy that." Nevertheless it's fun to watch the madness and so far no one who has "invested" in vintage Rolex sports models has been wrong.
  18. LOL...I was waiting for that. Come on Whoop you're a manufacturer now, get moving.
  19. I was planning to put my 036 dial in one of the old "Ruby" 036 rep cases with a Sead CG and Tourby crown but unfortunately the lug shape just doesn't hold up after all these years. On the plus side, it has the engravings on the back. Still deciding what to do. All the 061 h-maker builds I've seen have looked good.
  20. 2k might be just the slightest bit steep, but I think there will be lots of interest. This is one of the last true classics in need of a great rep (if you don't count all the Polish Navy versions on EBay ).
