My Lume Job - Rare PAM000 dial Superlumed with GX10
PeteM replied to ihiro's topic in The Panerai Area
Your right about that logo mate, thats nice I assume you purposely went for that lume finish, who did it? Was it your own work? -
Well mate you are travelling on a well worn path.... So there should be lots of advice available Pamman or Drazen you going to chime in For me the WM case is a no brainer FGD hands should be the latest version as the older ones I understand arent quite correct on lume area FGD dial with some slight modding will be the right way Defo a Swiss 6497, plenty about 2nd hand or to Otto for about $140 Jakob CB is a must or there are alternatives not as good but good nonethe less (EL etc) Crystal personally my choice would be the EL as its closest I have seen to gen. Though there are some close reps out there. ( I think I have one somewehere!) I have heard a few from the bay have been upto the mark but cant vouch personally, of course you can see the odd gen for $150 $200 not often though. Crown if your going with LH CG, which in my opion needs some very slight modding if your being picky , the crown - I would go for the shallow cup that comes from the one based on Palps not T as his cup is too deep and if your working with a virgin LH you have enough to work with on both. Look forward to seeing the end piece mate:thumbsupsmileyanim: Is WMs ready now then, I havent been around much myself but I did put my name down for a couple a long time ago....

In case you dont know when you order from Tat you can ask for some basic mods which he will do very cheaply comparatively. Such as CP, Superlume etc. Just ask him. He will also swap parts about for you such as mineral to sapphire, CGs etc He does a great service. Personally speaking.

Is MBW not in Singapore?

Have to disagree mate. You asked 2 questions..... which would I choose if there were one of each on the table and which is the better value for money based on spec.. The first I believe I answered ...."If I liked it and would wear it I would buy it regardless..." The second needs a specific list of specs and price to conclude which of the choices offers the best value for money.

If I liked it and would wear it I would buy it regardless.....

At last..... Parksie at Everest!!!! What a donut I is!!! But it was worth it cause while I was searching I found a forum that was just about luming!!!

As well as the creams liquids and grade of rouge the biggest thing that threw me was the extensive variations in felt pads, I had no idea. And they are just as important as the application itself as if its not correct then it can harm the surface or make the applicaion ineffective.

For me the only watch I think IS well worth luming is the Panerai.... Now the only reason I say this is not because of night time use but rather its quite an easy tell in daylight. I have had a number of gens Lings, Omegas, Pams and IWC except for the PAMs none of them had lume to shout about even at night...... but the lume on a gen PAM dial lights up even in daylight. Say your out in the sun (just English sun now) and you walk back inside the PAM is glowing, its even the same if your by a window and walk back into the centre of a bright room you can see the different colouration from the dial face. You only have to look at numerous PAM pics to see even in daylight the rep lume can be a tell just as much if not more than the AR. I say that because AR on Pams vary in strength and colour so unless you are pretty knowledgeable then the AR from the Xtal is not an easy tell unless its that crappy rep AR. The lume colour on the dial is: even to a pretty unknowlegeable person, an easy tell at distance. The PAM dials do significantly change in daylight. The only guys who I have seen master this is Vac, Zig, and the master himself and at the moment his name completely escapes me though he is used by members here his name isnt mentioned often, but his lume is awesome. Someone help me on that name please!!!!! (He is a septic over the pond) I cant say if other gens are like the PAM other than the ones I mention but I can say a lume on a PAM is an absolute must if you are modding. Even the EL and LH s really need the lume touch and those lumes are good 100% better than rep lumes and yet still not good enough. DSN to an extent has a good lume but can be wrong in colour... In addition if you set aside the way the PAM lume reacts in sunlight then there is still the problem of the markers, indices and numerals being the wrong colour even when not charged commonly there wrong ie Green instead of white, white instead of creamish etc etc So as for PAMs lume is an absolute must if you dont want an easy call out..... Quick pic of example of a 2 reps a gen and a franken with lumes done by certain guys. All same charge in daylight. The pic really doesnt do the differences justice in real life but you get the idea God what is that guys name...!!!!!! Remind me guys please.....

Let me know if you want a gen case for that...might be able to help

You can get large boxes with numerous tools bits and heads, these will cut, grind, sand and include polishers These are on the Bay or try Watchbitz here. You can get polishing compounds from Amazon or the bay etc. The colurs of the compounds relate to their abrasivness etc. I just searched around looked for the dremel bits with the best selection in the box, again quite cheap, then practised on bits of metal to see the best way of using it. You can also get table jigs to hold the dremel in place again amazon the bay or maybe watchbitz Something like this is what I started with then I just went from there http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item3a51057b1a http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item53df10048a http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item414f77df85 http://shop.ebay.co....3286.m270.l1311 http://cgi.ebay.co.u...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT http://cgi.ebay.co.u...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I think you should go for it mate... always more satisfying if you can do something like that yourself... Not sure on the Tat case unless you can be sure its as previous..I have found some variations in his cases especially for PreV. Although I am far from an expert I always understood from more senior guys on here. The way to go on a PreV was a Helenerou case and Jackson Bezel but that may of changed. As for CG I have a couple of those myself and I would ceratinly put those after the first choices of LHs and VCGs. Though there are some about and they do come up pretty regularly. Even on a modded watch then swap the LH for the Wholesale and resell Stick with what you already know you want to do......afterall the gens your getting are great and enjoyable but you dont get that journey Good luck whatever you choose mate

Will our current big watches look dated 20 years from now?
PeteM replied to By-Tor's topic in General Discussion
Truer than you think mate. His hat and brim actually have a large watch facing skywards so it can be seen from space in case the russian cosmanauts lose track of how long they have been up there!!! -
I think I would go with this personally
