Freddy's message is dead nuts on!The refinisher must know what you expect...Contrary to the earlier condemnation of "International Dial" They have served me well. They recently did a snowflake for me much to my satisfaction.I'm not in line w/ the addage that refinished dials are crap!Rob at international is accomodating & does fine work! Regards, mcotter
Last year a crownguardless Tudor Sub sold at auction @$37,500 + buyers premium. Somewhere I have the info as I can't remember the auction house..

Freddy, As long as we're chatting about accuracy in our reps...Please don't be offended but the crown guards on you Tudor sub look off! The watch looks very cool yet the cg's look like a much later variety. I'm not a cg's expert but my sml rose Sub (gen) has much pointier versions... Your collection is the gold standard to which we all subscribe.. so please don't take this reply the wrong way! Regards, mcotter
Help me understand " what's the beef"? It looks AOK to me...The pricing for this generation may be tall, but the watch looks as it should..

Bead blasting w/ create a very different finish! It will look like pewter or alloy, flat & a mat grey color.Jay @ motorcitywatchworks.com is an expert on the subject & gets great results...Send him an inquirey! Regards, mcotter
I know that image is computer generated & yes there are certain aspects that need attention...Yet it does look cool & I curious about its origin. As for the Kingston it appears to be very special as do Bills other creations...My 2cts is that its tall money for an ETA powered hommage!

OK you said "on a budget" I built a very credible Tudor date Sub from a rep 1680. I had the dial redone sucessfully by International Dial in blue along w/ the date wheel in red. Add a rep blue insert aged a bit & have the caseback engraved. JMB provided a lovely fliplok Tudor Sub bracelet & not a "super-franken" but a credible Tudor Sub none the less...Regards, mcotter
Freddy, A guy with very cool gear should have "hand stitched" straps on his vintage pieces not the machine stitched variety! If you send me the strap on that Turn-o I'll remedy the problem! It's a way too cool piece to not have a special Strap..Regards, mcotter@skbk.com
I just had a 7/8 speedy w/ module serviced by my tech....No problem at all. The entire service is the same as a recent service on a 7750 Daytona.
I believe the module frailty is myth & relates to earlier issues....The Heritage is my favorite contempory Rolex...So there!

Thanks LHOOQ, I've printed both the rep & gen photos...Side by side the rep is not horrible, in fact it's reasonable in the grey. My hope is that a credible mechanical rep is on the way as the quartz version is a bit underwhelming! Yet I may buy one as the MC is very special in the re-introduced foremat....Where can this version be had?
Regards, mcotter
It is not what I had in mind! Quartz & all it looks like an ok start...Does the Silverstone have a 7734 Valjoux rep movement?
How do I access the TAOBAO site?
Regards, mcotter....Thanks
To all of our trusted dealers! If the Tudor Heritage is not in rep-form in 2011 the factories are missing a bet.Especially in the US as Tudor is no longer available. The date location may be a problem as there don't appear to be 7734 asian Valjoux in production. There must be a way to build them & my guess is that keeping them in stock will be the problem.Within my group of watchnutz a substantial number would be on order!

I built a snowflake quite successfully w/ a rep 1680. however the Tudor gen sub dial is 26mm, a bit smaller than the rep dial & may not work. The solution in my case : I had the rep dial re-done beautifully into a blue snowflake.I also had the datewheel redone in red . The hands were an odd sizeyet Jay at motorcity watchworks had them. The rep bracelet w/ Tudor id came from JMB.. It turned out very well..Side by side w/ my gens it's not perceptable....A fun inexpensive project..Regards, mcotter
I had to laugh about the VW engine in a 911...You may remember that the 1st 911 came accross as a 912 w/a356 engine which was a 4banger, rather similar to the Bug engine! I know the earlier suggestion related to retrofitting....When I was a college student I had an elderly 356 which was not in very good order & had a an engine failure! The rebuild bill was $1250 which I was not even close to affording. The shop owner took me under his wing & offered me a 1200VW engine for $350 which would bolt right in. Of course I went for the huge savings & the shop ended up w/ my failed engine which I'm sure the next guy bought for plenty! That was a long time ago & a number of those great cars later!

Kypster is on the right track! Your photo shows that the 12side of the bracelet has more links than the 6side. Both sides should have an equal link count. The only time a fixed link should be. removed is for a tiny wrist (ladies). Before you put the cuters to work balance the count!

A good question which will have many responses & opinions! I recently purchased from " Trusty" a 1655 Exp 2 which has exceptional correctness about it. There is a one on one comparison by "Joshua" which tell an excellent story of this rep. W/ a little bit of gentle massaging mine looks very close to my prized gen. The rep has a splendid folded oyster bracelet which is stunning w/ a very credible buckle....That's my story
Regards, mcotter
The square plots were correct to the shield dial only! This dial has script of the rose earlier version. A cool looking dial for sure but not legit!
Regards, mcotter
I recieved mine a couple weeks ago. All in all it's rather pleasant & is a good representation of the 5508! Mine has the red triangle on the bezel insert & it's metallic, in reality the red is flat red not as recieved. I corrected mine w/ a steady hand, red acrylic paint & a new fabricated pearl in a carmel color..At less than $200 I'm delighted!.....Regards, mcotter
Kurt, It does my heart good to have a member long on integrety say his piece! I'm all for capitalism yet in this small fraternity a bit of protectionism is way refreshing to say the least! Hope your times improve as I believe they will!....Regards, mcotter
Freddy, My vote is a croc strap hand stitched of course. Aligoat has the right idea croc on vintage tool watches is ideal. If you want to source a great hand stitched strap...happy to help..Regards, mcotter
