  2. jMB, Wonderful work, I'm working on a 1675 case that has no engraving period. if I can send you a gen 1675 case back to make a file of w/ you engrave my blank? The inner lug engravings are very faint on my gen case, are you able to do lug end work w/ your equipt ? your first case back engraving is terrific.......Best, mcotter
  3. Just another 2cents...Most of the rep dials that emulate age/patina are a bit too orange to be believable. I submit that there are a number of ways to gently age a rep dial to a believable level. The bright orange of your subject is a rare age result ,Although it is in the hands of a reputable source it looks contrived to me. let the search function guide you to "dial aging" or a modder whose work best replicates your preference.....Best, mcotter
  4. I should have known! There is a site "made2u.su" that looks like the old " Watcheden". Same large inventory, same graphics...Same everything except I'm fearful that they are what we all fear & avoid A scam site. With all of my savy & history I used Western Union to make a purchase as my credit card failed their system about a month ago. Sure enough no confirmation, no response to my several emails.... I think I've been hooked! First time in my several years in this hobby. Don't I remember we have a list of TD's & have routine encouragement to deal w/ only those.... Well being the sharpie that I am I guess I ignored the prominent wisdom & It appears it'll cost me a few hundred for doing so....Live & Learn! My best, mcotter
  5. Hands & fixed bars should be an easy enough correction.....It may have substantial impact on it's economic future! In any event a marvelous return on a 400 pound investment! Best, mcotter ( Thanks for sharing)
  6. K12AN, If your after the vintage leather strap as in the BS ad I can send you a 19mm. w/ Rolex buckle. send me an email...Best mcotter@skbk.com
  7. check the TDs as they are now widely available! Best, mcotter
  8. jMB, the case looks fabulous! The holes appear perfect.....Your skills are enviable. Another project for your lathe might be milling a rep 1675 bezel to accommodate gen spec inserts which are a tad wider. the rep GMT bezels are Sub bezels which look a bit off! When you put a rep GMT insert together w/ a gen spec the outer edge is 1mm. Or so wider. is this a job you may tackle? happy to send you bezel to try.... best, mcotter
  9. Cyber, You are on the right track....Where did you source the "sideways buckle" Thanks for the help...Best, mcotter
  10. Alterego, My message above was intended for "foxindabox" Best, mcotter
  11. Great work Alter! I too have done much "re-stitching" over these last years. After reviewing many of the custom makers who hand stitch I have gravitated to much heavier threads.I use cotton embroidery floss which is available at all fabric stores & comes in many colors. I wax thoroughly w/ beeswax & must enlarge the machine made holes w/ an awl. It's only a few extra minutes of time & it looks much better.Take some time to visit custom strap sites & you'll see of what I speak. There are many yet "Dangerous9 straps" is a favorite of mine. Once you have the stitching mastered you'll start from scratch & be dazzled w/ all the leather options, buckle choices..on & on! Stay the course, you have a good hand & this "malady" of ours is great fun! Any tips needed please email me. The awl size is important & you'll need to experiment, I've made all of mine in varying sizes to accomodate thread size. When enlarging the hole caution is the key as a torn hole really makes a very messed up strap! Mest, mcotter.......mcotter@skbk.com
  12. jMB on this forum knows the 1016 like no one else. anything related is truly his bailiwick! he will be the one to contact....Best, mcotter

  14. absolutely stunning! a watch to be held as a standard that we all can look up to....There is a very small issue...The case back has been "spun", it should have a cross grain satin pattern...ok, I'm a fuss budget! sorry for the mention...Best, mcotter
  15. Jmb is the Tudor chrono wizard, he has the correct bracelet w/correct Tudor I'd. i have purchased mine from him & they're great... Best, mcotter
  16. Hello all, I've been awaiting delivery of a Speedy for a few months w/o any success. Today as I made another inquirey I was directed to a new site w/ a vastly different profile. Very few options & all new graphics....Something is amiss, I fear the old is out & a new less attractive scheme is in place? I hate it when this happens, change is not something that I deal w/ well! My thanks, mcotter
  17. Hayden, in the absence of either a set of case wrenches or a rubber sticky ball you can use the famous "Duck tape method". take about a 30" piece of typical duck tape & wind it into a ball sticky side out. You'll end up w/ a wad bigger than than a golf ball, much smaller than a hard ball.Case threads are standard issue: right to tighten & left to loosen. Press your new ball hard against the case back & turn firmly, you'll be surprised as the ball w/ turn along w/ the case back....Good luck,it'll work just as described! best, mcotter
  18. Cc33, modern clasps are not anything I am an expert on yet I've been duly impressed w/ how close they appear like the gen . in a recent side by side the rep was amazingly close. I'm sure I have an unused one in my odd box.. Let me know if youd like one! best! mcotter
  19. Great fun!The rep on the left is a pretty good representation of the Gen on the right. W/ due respect to all the correct responses so.. me of which I buy...The cyclops magnification is correct, the rep is off maybe 10% Best, mcotter..
  20. Painting the ring red is very simple once you have the ring in hand! Adding the script w/ be your challenge. It could be done w/ a decal....JoeyB is an expert on that subject. The red does look very cool! Best, mcotter
  21. I own a number of PVD finished pieces & never have I had durability issues....Don't fear the finish! Best, mcotter
  22. Nanuq, What part of Alaska are you in? Do you have Cayote? In suburban Detroit we have a large Whitetail population & all the other smaller variaties & Cayote have grown in numbers in recent years....At my birdfeader it's not uncommon to have Deer, Raccoons, squirrels & an occasional bird at the same meal! Thanks for your wildlike visit! Best, mcotter

  24. What are you trying to achieve?if you're doing a single custom dial or a series that w/ make a difference. There a few good U.S. dial people as well as various dial makers in Asia...Tell us what you're up to? best, mcotter
  25. Martin, a white dinner jacket? that must be a commencement event for your Masters? in any event it takes a pretty snazzy guy to pull off a dinner jacket as you have done! I have one which I've worn twice in a bunch of years! Best, mcotter
