  1. Thanks Tyrant, they did release the model I'm after. I usually try to build one on my own,yet w/o an insert l'm stuck! best, mcotter

  3. Although Phong has a USA business address, I believe many of his resources are VN based. He & MQ have the best aftermarket parts which leads me to believe they share some resources. if you look you may find some of the best resources that exist in Ho Chi Min City. Several stories exist about many vintage Rolex rep finds that emanate from that city! A report following your visit would be wonderful! best, mcotter
  4. With all the commotion over the new gilt dialed black, black bay i'm trying to put one together. i can't find a black insert & I need some help. Hoping you Tudor enthusiasts can give a bit of direction. being a 41mm case, my usual insert resources appear to not have what's needed.... my thanks, best ,mcotter

  6. The red triangle is indeed a PITA.......I've had good success with masking w/ scotch tape, not masking as the scotch bonds better. The red is applied carefully w/ a paint pen, 2 applications maybe 3. I've done it on both ceramic & aluminum inserts! The red triangle is really cool . Be sure to remove the tape prior to the paint cures, an hour or less following the last coat......best, mcotter
  7. Wow, you are now very fashionable! Wear it in good health...best, mcotter
  8. JMB, The white Exp is dandy! If you confirm that the lug size is 20mm. I'll send you a black vintage strap that w/ set it off beautifully! My best, mcotter
  9. Maybe the coolest bevels ever! Magnificent in all ways! best, mcotter
  10. A magnificent thread! Delighted that some of you watch goofs are elders. I was mesmerized by the magic of " bond"& purchased my first sub shortly after " gold finger" when $204.00 was way beyond what normal people would devote to a wristwatch! In retrospect that amount was close to what a term cost in college.... The majesty of rolex lives! Best, mcotter......
  11. Go to the Rolex section here, scroll down & you'll see a thread 5513's.....you'll see many! Best, mcotter
  12. JJ is known as "rolexaddict" & can be found on this & other forums. Maybe the best modder of them all! Enjoy your pursuit,it's a ball... Best, mcotter
  13. I think it's very cool...I have the project x (rep) & this one is way closer to its intent! Great job....mcotter
  14. That buckle is a fantasy indeed! There are many rep buckles that emulate the 16mm. Gen but the one pictured looks nothing like the gen.the bay usually has a good collection of gen-like buckles for little money! Best, mcotter
  15. Jmb, It looks dandy, infact it may be as close as we replicans w/ find. I have several gens w/ engraving/ stamping that does not look as good. I have a blank 1675 case in need of engraving, please let me know when you're open to assignments....best, mcotter
  16. keister, Your best resource for a nice 1016 build is JMB ,very active on this forum & a gentleman to boot...That's your best bet! Best, mcotter
  17. Denim, I'd bet that if you printed white T shirts w/ large Submariner face images you'd sell up a storm...Best, mcotter
  18. Yup, They can call it whatever they wish! That GMT has seen many "battlefields" & the JoeyB insert looked dandy! It's former bakelite insert would not have the same presence for sure as it would be crazed, cracked & badly glued together as most are!....Hurray for RWG. Best, mcotter
  19. FF, from where comes the very cool "cream" dial ? Best, mcotter....
  20. Great looking engraving....Not legit! best, mcotter
  21. As to the question about a link to the 3 vendors? They share Vietnamese history & probably some of the same of the same resourses...Their products must rely on some of the same "hands" Best, mcotter
  22. whoopy The anodized red triangle on rep inserts look translucent which is incorrect for your vintage rep. I Have had some good success carefully masking W/ scotch tape, not masking tape & painting w/ a solvent based paint marker. The result is rather like the gen insert. If you are willing to send me your insert I'm happy to install a red triangle...Best, mcotter
  23. Not sure about his business model yet "Rolojack" on this forum has done some amazing case shaping & polishing. I'd PM him & ask if he can help! Best, mcotter
  24. Rolojack, You Sir are the consumate case "Tweaker" & your polishing is truly magical! All evidence of its rep background has been erased. I have so enjoyed your displays, they are absolutely stunning...I'll never forget your black dialed pre-Daytona.....You are bringing our craft to a higher level! Thanks for showing off your work!....Best, mcotter
