  1. DITTO -In the words of Wayne Campbell "SHWING, Tent Pole"!!
  2. Real nice work! That's how it should look.
  3. Wolf, Looks like you're off and running. Mine is the stock overlay that came with the movement, has open 6's & 9's -it's okay. Slartlibartfast has a great technique with laser printer water tranfer decals that he used with GREAT (mmmmm, flat top 3's!) results on the overlay (do a search). With the exception of some work on the case all the modding on my 1655 was done by the Zigmeister. After break a few too many of my first few reps I don't touch movements or dials & hands especially luming -too small and too delicate work for my twitchy caffinated hands.
  4. That's a beauty Pugwash, congrats and welcome to the Speedmaster club! I love the Tritium dial and patina. Believe it or not I'm contemplating selling my gen as it gets so little wrist time these past few years.
  5. Classic Watch Parts sells a nice 5517 insert too. The standard 5513 insert is also correct on a 5517. If memory serves me the 5517's was delivered to the MOD with the standard and 60 minute marked bezels, the same goes for some with sword hands and mercedes versions as well. Here's a shot of a CWP bezel with gen lumi pearl installed.
  6. It was an old Watchmaster Red 1680 (marked 5513).
  7. Hi B, Thank you! it's a MBW case with an NDT dial. It is sadly no longer in the fold!
  8. Ditto!!! The one on the left for me today.
  9. That's a beauty D! Today: And Transitional Sunday
  10. No worries P4GTR! I didn't take it that it was directed it at me, I realized I wasn't really clear with what I was trying to say. You really summed it up well with with your pizza analogy!!!
  11. Yes, why does it have to be either, or.... If you can only do one, the easier, less headache route is the 5513 (minus the twinlock crown as you noted). You remind me how much I miss my 5513 with 369 gilt dial, now pointed CG's would have been the finishing touch! Lord knows I love my 1665 and the date is practical for sure but no date subs are just the perfectly balanced Rolex IMO. Here's something to whet your 5513 appetite:
  12. Agreed P4GTR nothing new, I guess I meant PinkDolphin had a good suggestion making a mans DJ more feminine. My wife is the same she doesn't like to wear somthing larger than 34-36mm, she's worn that tiny 32mm for nearly a decade. It was a jump for her to wear a mid-size but the Pink dial was the hook! It has a gentleman's feel without being too oversize.
  13. Mmmmm,me likey what I see so far!!! Keep us posted Eddog.
  14. Pinkdolphin is onto something! My wife usually wears a gen Cartier Tank Francais or an old 1940's manual Rolex "Army Model" -which the crown tube recently stripped from the case. I suggested she try my 6263 but after a few days she doesn't like the pushers and size. So I thought 34 mm mid-size might be the ticket and had a dial redone (in what else but pink!) on a vintage Tudor Oysterdate for my wife. She's been pretty happy with it -hasn't worn another watch for nearly a month since I gave it to her.

    DW 6263

    Anytime my friend!
  16. Very nice piece GPL!!! Congrats. I have 2 older DW bezels for sale in the parts area, you might want to eyeball them and see if you think they look better. You can make me an offer if you're interested.

    DW 6263

Hi B, My .02 is the 7835 tapers too much for me personally (19mm down to 12mm), I'd go with a 78350 (19mm to 14mm) if you can find one around $200. I haven't priced them in some time, mine was $160 on ebay over 2 years ago. I use rep 571 end links on my 6263 that I purchased from Joshua. They're okay, finish is not that great but fit better than the 557 end links that came with my bracelet as the 557 sit too low on the tall case. Here's an old stock shot with the rep end links:
  18. Looking good BB, I'd suggest a better bezel insert and give it the same aging treatment as you did with the current one. Catch up the aging of the case up to the bezel insert, add gen crown & tube and pop the second hand back on and you're good to go.
  19. VINTAGE for sure TJ! And as you said if you're going to mod it yourself you get the satisfaction of the labor spent on it. Here are some teasers for you....
  20. Wolf, I think these are the Hands (# HAN-2752) on the page at Ofrei. My links are all broken in my signture line which had all this info. I've been having trouble finding the original post. I just eyeballed the crystal, I'd say I sanded down nearly half the height. 1000 grit automotive wet paper will do the trick -didn't polish it at all since it gets glued down to the case. I think my 78360 rep bracelet was purchased separately from Josh. I've got one of those bracelets FS on my 1675 GMT in the auction area with 14 links.
  21. Still driving the GMT around this week.
  22. He's a new contribution, my transitional 16750 from 1979.
  23. I'll second that BT!!! The new models just don't do it for me. Now, I wouldn't mind a more aged Pepsi insert.
