  1. Gorgeous! Congrats on a great choice of parts.
  2. I've had this a while, and while small for today's standards, I kinda took a liking to it. The watch is a gen 6560, serial 356XXX, which dates it to late summer/fall 1945. I think somewhere along the past 63 years it was "updated" with a 1030 movement (1950 era cal.), although I haven't been able to confirm exactly what is original equipment cal. in this piece. Another member was kind enough to send me the following info concerning the origin of this piece: "The 6560 originally came with a 1030 movement and the serial numbers of that era were recycled from past production...this is why the s/n equals 1945. The correct s/n will be stamped inside the caseback. The actual production date will be stamped as quarters and years....IV56 = fourth quarter of 1956, II57 - second quarter of 1957 etc. The 1030 movement was introduced in 1950 and was used into the early 1960s" This makes sense, since after receiving the PM I checked the caseback, and found the correct date of manufacture to be II58. In fact, the actual ref. is 6569. As you may imagine, when I looked at the lug serial earlier today it was hardly discernible because of wear; even when using a 10x loupe. I never considered a different date on the caseback, and didn't look for it earlier. IMO the watch is unique, with the machined bezel and black dial looking terrific together. I fitted it with a genuine black Teju Lizard strap, and a gen 16mm buckle. Here she is, enjoy: Here's a shot of the 1030, expertly serviced by the Master ..and one last shot of the caseback, strap & buckle
  3. I just watched the opening ceremonies... simply awesome 888
  4. Congrats on the new TT, simply awesome ....but Do you ever have the urge to wear that first TT Canal St rep? You know.. for old times sake
  5. Wow, old post! It was however, an inspiration when I first saw it Here's the results:
  6. Nice pics I always loved that early morning light blue sky at sunrise
  7. Here ya go: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=75312
  8. Great job Diz, congrats of course to the owner and to the builder of this fine piece. Enjoy it and wear it in good health. Cheers, JoJo
  9. I agree. The high prices of some newer reps have helped me "evolve" my interest into building frankens that contain as many gen parts as possible, sometimes only using the rep case. In an upcoming explorer project, every single part is gen The way I figure it, with the price of reps skyrocketing the way they have been, we might as well look for used gen parts!
  10. Beautiful job Ubi. The WM9 is definitely the way to go. You've created a beautiful modern franken
  11. The gf and I went browsing in the city last weekend, and actually got lucky finding a great little place for vintage rollies. On the train uptown I spotted a chinatown Pam rep!!!! lol
  12. Nice pics Ubi! I've been kicking around purchasing a DSLR for a while too (and still). I thought I had it down to a Nikon D80, but now I'm considering waiting for the new Canon G10. Up to now, all of my pics struggle with an old Canon 2mp Elph! I'd love to see some new detailed macros of your beautiful Daytonas

Beautiful Job! I love the clean classic looks of a no-date
  14. OUCH! I hope you make a full and speedy recovery my friend. I can just imagine how frightening it must have been injuring your eye that way. I agree with D's Tequilla idea; you may need a full one! Get well soon
  15. It looks like this could be a 'Nam case. It's a bit over-polished, but that would be an easy fix. This might be a good bargain for someone wishing to build an inexpensive franken: http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-1680-SUBMARINER-...p3911.m14.l1308
  16. There are certain reps out there that simply cannot be "called out" unless they are taken apart
  17. Thanks everyone for the compliments! I haven't taken the watch off since it arrived! For someone searching for a similar watch at a fraction of the cost and a terrific bargain, kelster has one for sale now: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=77528
  18. Beautiful piece Kruz! That giant CG didn't protect the crown on impact??? I love that movement too. It looks like you've got a perfect match for your deco bezel
