  1. If you're going to use a gen 3035 its worth getting a gen dial. Modern dials can be found quite easily on Ebay and are not so expensive and much less hassle to install in a gen movement. For the most part the one thing that lets down a good rep is the dial... Cheers P.
  2. Yes they're interchangeable. I have your case (Josh) in my hand now and the Trusty bezel. It will go on with a crystal press. The Josh bezel has the thinner numbers found on later 1655's which i prefer... Cheers P.
  3. Haha i agree doc. Like TMG I been through a Josh, a Trusty and and a MBW and still had to raid my parts bin to cobble together a hollowlink bracelet. I used the case from Trusty's drilling the lugsholes through (not easy, the ss on these cases is tough). The caseback and bezel ring off of the Josh (thanks dluddy) and a gen tropic 127 (a 116 doesn't fit so good). The MBW i recieved came with a 5513 case which is totally wrong for this project. The dial is the best of the lot but is too small to fit in any other case. I vintaged it anyway just for fun. I have sent the Trusty dial to Micheal at Classicwatchparts and have a set of Omega flightmaster hands so hopefully will have it all put together soon. But as Doc says "building a 1655 is not for the faint of heart or wallet" Here's some pics of project so far.... cheers for looking P.
  4. I only took a little off of the crown guards on the inside front and they look pretty even to me. Also the gen dial tapers off at the edge giving it a rounded look that you never get with a rep dial. I think this is what you see coz the markers are all even under a lupe. The bezel insert had to be glued no snap-in unfortunately. Never seen a gen one for sale, i wish i could get one. The clasp came from Josh's best sub from a couple of years ago, they're best i've seen... cheers for looking P.
  5. Ha! there's a thought... i either get aftermarket hands from Clarks for modern or Classicwatchparts for vintage but found the LV ones in my box of tricks so maybe they're off a rep i had before. Sorry for confusion bertieng... Cheers P.
  6. Hey Freddy, i find that first securing the end i a vise but obviously not so tight as to bend it then drilling through with the appropriate size drill works. As for fixing the damage, try find something metal and flat (maybe a screwdriver) through the link then flattening with a hammer. hope this helps, good luck! P.
  7. Hi guys, first of all thanks for your comments glad you like it... mrandazzo - the dial has awesome as you'd expect from a gen but hands not so good. I'll post some lume pics tonite. bertieng - Had the gen dial for a while brought on the Bay. Its not perfect and obviously came from a damaged gen. It has a scratch through the bottom font and some of the lume has specks in it, maybe from a water damaged watch. But a rare find, i've only ever seen this one anywhere, i was very lucky. The hands are for a Tudor so fit the 2836 perfectly. vizsladog - I read here that the Ofrei crystal was closer to the gen than the Clark's. I'm pretty happy with it and it fits perfect, in fact it sits lower than original crystal in the Euromariner which i like. I wanted a gen of course but couldn't justify 250 bucks. ouch! Cheers P.
  8. Yeah its almost worth buying for bits alone if you're building a 1665. I even salvaged the non-groove flip-lock off of the bracelet and used it on a regular oyster. Cheers P.
  9. Nice one Mahler, thats exactly what we need. Seems everyone assumes the WM9 will be correct and the Euromariner wrong... lets see Cheers P.
  10. Brought an Asian movement version of Chris Euromariner LV but gave it a complete overhaul... spec are: - Euromariner case - Swiss eta 2836-2 movement with noob datewheel - Gen LV dial - Clarks hands - Gen tube and crown - Ofrei 295c crystal - aftermarket bezel insert with more accurate colour and pearl - hollowlink bracelet with re-worked SEL's and clasp There's alot of talk about which is best the Euromariner or the WM9. Well i haven't handled a WM9 but i'm pretty happy with the quality of this case and of course Chris' service is second to none. Cheers for looking P.
  11. Man that's really sticking the boot in. Freddy if i were you i wouldn't folling this auction....
  12. Hey bk, nice comparison thanks for posting. A thicker case is interesting but of course it depends if it matches the gen. can you measure them both and post it here. Then can someone give an accurate measurement of a gen case and then we can see how they compare. I have just finished my LV Euromariner and having handled a few gens the case doesn't seem too thin but you never know without side-by-side comparisons. Cheers P.
  13. Great work as usual Freddy. Where do you source your 1570's? i"m always a little apprehensive about the ones on the bay.. P.
  14. Awesome examples guys. Dunno why all the Comex builders haven't chimed in here but i will... here's my MBW 1665.. Cheers for looking P.

  17. Thanks guys, very interesting. But i was thinking for a donor El Primo in a Franken project like yours Ubi. Will this dial fit? Also Freddy which rep dials are close to the gen? Cheers P.
  18. Hi William, i live in Beijing and Toadtorrent pretty much nailed it. Just make sure you declare it as watch parts valued as 10 or 20 bucks or you might get it stolen. Cheers P.
