  1. The MBW 5513 is is probably the best sub or any rollie for that matter to get as close to a gen with mods. The good news is a gen dial you can pick up for a good price and will drop straight in. No date wheel to mess around with. A gen insert and some casework plus gen tube and crown and there you have it. Here's mine with later gen glossy dial and platinum around the lume markers.... Cheers P.
  2. Hi Andrew, i'm not too worried about the quickdate function. I have a couple of 7734 manual wind watches which have no quickdate function at all. Leaving it on a winder is one way around it. Btw also have a Valjoux 7750 Navi in the making too. Will post it when its done in next week or so... P.
  3. Yes a gen dial is all i need now to put this together. Recieved the movement today and te base watch with Chiefs AR is on its way. I'll keep you updated and if i have time i'll do a pictorial on its progress Cheers P.
  4. Thanks guys particularly you Andrew, thought you would be a good source for info. According to the eta webste the 7750 and 7753 share the same dimensions. I have the (6-9-12) case and AR crystal. No, the Lello won't fit 7753. Well we'll see how it all goes once the 7753 arrives, i'll keep you all post on progress. I can always re-sell the 7753 if all else fails. Cheers P.
  5. I've just managed to get hold of a gen Valjoux 7753 and am looking at building a tricompax Navitimer. I know the movement dimensions are the same as a 7750 but wondering if anyone has done this. Cheers P.
  6. Me too i got a gen dial waiting for a movement....
  7. yeah Stephane its on the way but i could only fit the T19 in the envelope, sorry
  8. Tribal, the insert on the 7016/0 is the same as 1680/5513/1665 Rollies. Maybe smaller on your 79190. Cheers P.
  9. Hey Stephane, here's my gen Tudor 7016/0. Very vintage just the way you like it... Its still away for repairs can't wait to get it back. Cheers P.
  10. Beautiful watch indeed a classic. It would be a shame to replace the band especially being from your grandfather. Try www.classicwatchparts.com They have a restoration service, in fact i have a folded link bracelet in with them at the moment. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait the service can be real slow. Cheers P.
  11. Hi Stephane, nice project looking good so far. For the crystal, if case is gen spec 7016/0 and looks like it is, it will take a Rolex Tropic T19. I have a couple of used ones i'll see how they look and pm you. As for the insert a watchmaterial one is a good bet with an Ofrei vintage lume dot or bag a gen on the bay. Cheers P.
  12. That's a beauty Lani, the standard to aim for. Wear it well... P.
  13. Nice, its has Phong written all over it and is a bargain compared to his prices... P.
  14. Try... www.classicwatchparts.com P.
  15. Bit late on this thread i know but, is the subdial spacing exact to say, a moonwatch. In otherwords could a gen dial be used on this movement? Also whats the hands sizing. Josh, can you you give us this info please. I got a speedy caseset and domed plexi dying for a movement and gen dial. Cheers P.
  16. Another great post Gio. Take it to the Mariana Trench with a very very long piece of string.... 10,911 metres long. That should do it Cheers P.
  17. Poor CTJ74 you gonna wish you never posted your watch Great effort and now it will be greater.... P.
  18. Hi Stephane, just curious, the ETA 2789-1 isn't a GMT movement so is the hand fixed or has it been modified like our dealers 2836's. Also the stem alignment is much higher... very interesting. Go on, open her up... Cheers P.
  19. Hey Stephane, wow! didn't think we'd see this one again with RA not around anymore, now we know why you flogged your other one. Congratulations! you must be the happiest man on RWG at this moment... Cheers P.
  20. Wow! great effort, takes a lot of work to put these tutorials together. Thanks for sharing... P.
  21. Could be a number of things. If the holes are not pefectly in line the springbar may not be fully extended or holes could be too small although most re-drilled holes i've seen are actually too big. Try cleaning the holes out and lubricating them and post a pic but better start a new thread for this.. P.
  22. Hi Stilty, nice case indeed. My only suggestion would be to slightly smooth the top edges of it too get rid of that brand new look. You can see the difference on my Tudor... It just needs a light going over with fine grit paper and a polish with a dremel and rouge. I like the dial, is it from Classicwatchparts ? And your datewheel is awesome, any news for us on production.. ? Cheers P.
  23. Nice pics so far but they can be improved easily. Photographing watches is a challenge but once you get the set up right its very rewarding. In natural light try and avoid direct sunlight, infact overcast days are the best. Also get yourself two pieces of stiff card, one white and one black. Use them as reflectors and deflectors of light onto the watch using the self timer on the camers so you keep your hands free. Have fun! P.
  24. Thanks guys really glad you like them, couldn't have done it without you and RWG.... Haha! yeah i've been tempted, even payed for one but the seller withdrew and sent my money back I spend enough on stainless steel, ouch! I would say the LV is my beater, pretty confident it would never get called out unless i meet one of you guys... The long running saga of my 1655... The Zigmeister just finished the dial so should see it together soon along with my 6263 i hope... Cheers P.
