  1. Hiya all A couple of years back i brought a white dialed Broad Arrow rep with plexi glass which became a kind of grail watch for some and a favourite of our Speedy gurus Pugwash and By-Tor. But the watch didn't do much for me and i wanted a moon watch with plexi glass so decided to make one out of the broad arrow. Okay the steel bezel is incorrect but there are version out there with it and i acually prefer it, especially on a black leather strap. Its powered by the trusty Seagull manual wind with a gen Moonwatch back and a Bob leather strap with Omega deployment and of course the fabled domed plexi. Enjoy... Cheers P.
  2. Okay just to reitterate what i said in my last post here's a cross section of ten modern and vintage crowns. On close inpection they all have slight differences.... yes? Are you happy now Kurt..
  3. Hey Kurt, as its its one of my crowns in question guess i should say something... I brought ten "gen" crowns off of a reputable Rolex dealer of which this is one and have never had any reason to question there authenticity. I must say though if you had given me a test as to whether your gen crown out of the packaging or mine was real i would have to say mine. The crown on yours doesn't seem sharp enough and the dots seem way too big and messy. But saying that i'm sure Rolex have more than one place producing crowns and differences as we have seen in other areas are possible. the saga continues.... Cheers P.
  4. Only interchangable parts are the caseback and the bracelet. I hope i can get an old model or i'm screwed.. P.
  5. Good points Importr... Is it better than the old version? i think its an amazing out of the box rep for those who don't want to mod their watches because there is nothing much you can do with it anyway... No, i removed the bezel to try on an older case but its too large in diameter and of course crystals are not compatible either... Cheers P.
  6. Not sure about this, i didn't remove the dial and don't want to mess with it too much as i intend to trade or sell it... Cheers P.
  7. Hi guys, yes its A7750 powered and AR is pretty good. Unfortunatly the improvements didn't stretch to the caseback same as previous model. Andreww, yes normally with gen tricompax dials they have to be trimmed but the problem i have with this is that the gen dial is too small by about 1mm... Cheers P.
  8. Hi all, i'm in the process of building a new Navitimer tricompax using a gen valjoux 7753 movement and a gen blue arabica dial along the same lines as my previous one. Having no luck picking up a 2nd hand Serie Speciale i brought one off of Silixprime, and within a few days i recieved this... As you can see the slide rule lines up correctly with dial and numbers on the tachy ring are closer to the edge like the gen... also.... the case has the correct indentations like the gen and deep bezel with correct deep flutes...(see Andrewws guide to Navitimers above) more pics... I took the watch apart but unfortunatly it won't fit a gen dial its around 1mm too small for the rep case so cannot really mod with gen movement. Its a beautiful piece but useless to me so if anyone has an older version Serie Speciale i will straight swap or its up for sale... Cheers P.
  9. Another awesome piece in the collection TMG, great detalis i really like it alot... P.
  10. Damn now i gonna have to dismantle and rebuild all my vintage Rollies...
  11. Freddy, Nanuq, thanks for your comments... This is a gen dial i brought water damaged a while ago and then sent to Kirkrich for a refinish. The most obvious flaw is the "swiss" pretty bloody awfull actually but otherwise ok. Think the "cosmograph" font could be a little thinner but gonna look okay in my franken 6265 Cheers P.
  12. Hi there, just recieved this dial and would like your opinions on its accuracy please... pics: Cheers P.
  13. Don't be silly now, JoJo and Freddy know their stuff....
  14. TMG and i both built decent reps of this watch, not easy but can be done... see pics of ours above... Cheers P.
  15. All true and not condoning fakes on the bay but if somebody posted it here we'd be saying what an awesome rep.... Cheers P
  16. Beautiful gens guys but this is a rep forum so here's a rep.... Cheers P.
  17. Don't call, they'll laugh at you.. You will need a gen GMT-II with a cracked or damaged bezel.. They will want serial numbers and will check them out. Rolex don't sell parts for obvious reasons. Never seen one of these up for sale antwhere, rare as rocking horse s*it... Cheers P.
  18. Looks good to me, a very fine example in fact. Prices are going up and up this could go anything from 2k - 3.5k perhaps more... if you're getting it for less buy buy buy! Cheers P.
  19. Hey Nanuq, i'm afraid you're stuck with the blue. The black paint differs of course but they are all made with primary colours, ie red and blue and its these which are strongest and will be the last to fade. I've bleached inserts which have turned brown hence more red in the black. Seems your insert has a strong dose of blue. The Chocolate dial such as yr gen DRSD and the MBW probably have a heavy dose of red in the original black paint hence the chocolate look.. Cheers P.
  20. That's a beauty JoJo... here's my franken Euromariner with gen dial from 2003 too i believe. Really needs a gen bezel insert, one day... Cheers P.
  21. Probably one of the screws holding the movement in place has come loose. An easy fix providing it doesn't get jammed in the works. Take it to a watch repairman asap unless you can do it yourself. Cheers P.
  22. well no chance of seeing one of those for sale that's for sure, strange movement to use as a base... Thanks again Andreww P.
  23. Mmmm interesting, does it use the 7740? no wonder the dial only cost 30 bucks Cheers P.
