  1. i received this one a month ago, yes i will re-work the CG inside to gen spec. Custom engraving was 50 bucks. This one matches open 6 dial... Cheers P.
  2. Nice project and nice gesture... I'm slowly building another 1680 red version. I read about the problems with Yuki cases but seems they were an older batch and problems were sorted so i took the plunge and brought one. I haven't tried a gen movement in or an eta with the spacer but here are pics of the latest offering from Yuki.... Insert is a Watchmaterial with an Ofrei pearl, gen 703 crown, rep tube and a dial from a member here probably NDT origin... I had Yuki custom engravings. Crystal is gen and a good fit. The only problems i see so far is that the bezel insert is a loose fit so will need cementing in. Not sure if a gen will work either, gonna try one and find out. Crown guards as usual will need a little work too. Overall its a good quality case and well worth considering... I will use a gen 1570 in this project just to get the datewheel right. I think still the biggest flaw in rep 1680's is the datewheel. And there is nothing better than a flat 3 sitting pretty in the window of a gen 127. Well worth a thousand bucks..! Cheers P.
  3. Thanks..! its a 2836-2 powered SSD with drilled lugholes, gen T<25 dial with matching handset and gen faded bezel insert. And the rest made to look like a well used dive watch... Cheers P.
  4. Never tried it, i don't have any A7750 or 53 movement watches, and i would always leave such things to the experts... A rep dial side by side of a gen there is no comparison .... here's a gen gold arabic i have good luck with your project, pls post anything you try with the movement, interesting idea... Cheers P.
  5. Mmmm dunno sounds even more complicated... a gen 7753 will always keep its price so not worried about the investment... here's my other tricompax, gen movement, gen dial .... no rep dial can come close and this one is a bit rough .... cheers P.
  6. nope, case only fits the rep slide rule, fortunately they're pretty good quality on the reps... but they don't line up all the way round Cheers P.
  7. and gen ETA Yup gen dial and gen ETA 7753. That's the whole point of the exercise so a gen movement with no recessed date can be used.... Cheers P.
  8. It was always obvious that you were a good bloke, amazing what you can decipher from a forum but we are pretty close here.... Now you proved it....Great piece and even better story Nice one P.
  9. Forget it i have a day job... check yr pm and i'll tell you what i really think.... P.
  10. Too right, always good to have ideas thown in the mix that's what its all about here. After an overnight cure all looks good. I'm gonna do the case i got from Sneed today, will post some pics later... Cheers Peter
  11. Nope, your case is going to be the one i do next for the real deal.... then once the crystal comes back from its AR trip its off to The Zigmeister for service and hand fitting .... Cheers P.
  12. We're all crazy... you will be too soon Cheers P.
  13. I thought of that but i have a small drill press but there is no way i could drill another hole so close. The drill bit would follow the original hole and snap. Stainless steel is not easy to work with. The tube and no load on it, just has to be there to create a seal (with a gasket) so no moisture enters the case, so the epoxy should work... thats the theory... Cheers P.
  14. Hi guys, as some of you may well know i have made a couple of franken Navitimers using gen ETA movements, one 6-9-12 and one tricompax. I still have the 6-9-12 but gave the tricompax to a good friend and have wanted to build another ever since. Unfortunately sourcing the correct case became impossible and so the stem alignment was always an issue (too low) Anyway after a bit of thinking i may have come up with a solution. Pls note this is an experiment using an old case. Only time will tell if it works, need to see if the cement i used will be durable enough. Its a pictorial so here goes... first out with the crown tube... open the hole with a 2.8 mm drill done take metal epoxy put epoxy in base of the hole and lie to harden on a flat surface When its hardened enough push the crown tube in the hole add more epoxy and align then leave to harden more put movement in the case and insert stem this will ensure it all lines up before the epoxy sets completely stem lines up perfectly front view leave it to set hard overnight Okay lets see what happens, thanks for looking Cheers P.
  15. Here we go.... Silix based 1675 and vintage style SSD Cheers P.
  16. Buy a Yuki or Mary folded bracelet then add a rep divers flip-lock ... vintagise accordingly ..... No? Cheers P.
  17. Marty needs an overlay so probably for an ETA based project so the numbers need to go the opposite way. A gen will be no good. Marty i have an old Ubi/Watchmeister flat 3 one if its any good to you.... Cheers P.
  18. Can be done at home but you need the correct tools otherwise you damage the links. I would just take the bracelet to a local watchmaker, he will change in a few mins for a few pennies i'm sure.... Cheers P.
  19. The reason why the magnification is so high is the hight of the tropic 127. When you shave it down it will fix the problem. Just be careful the 127 is a thick plexi and if you take too much off it will touch the hands... Nice project... Cheers P.
  20. Amazing what comes to mind when you're having a beer in a hotel room in China.... Cheers ... ! P.
  21. Awesome work, the V72 club is a great club to be in.... Cheers P.
  22. Very nice example... i just got mine back from The Zigmeister today too... Cheers P.
  23. A sample of JMB's master drilling of a virgin. She never looked better...... Cheers P.
