Hi guys, thanks for your input. Not too worried about the crystal certainly won't be shaving anything off that's a scary thought. Never been much of a fan of modern Rollies but this one i can't get off of my wrist ... Cheers P.
  5. Yeah i would have been surprised if you did. Good luck with your project.. P.

    SSD

Hi, I'm following up on Tribal's post on the "thicker" bezel SSD i thought i would post pics of my modded SSD with (i think) the new style bezel. Specs are: - Gen dial. - Gen tube and crown. - Gen bezel insert. Snaps in like gen now. - Gen bracelet parts (5 links on one side for now) but once oiled the rep side feels almost the same. - Clarks hands. - shaved crownguards (front only). The crystal sits pretty high on this watch anyway but more so now because the bezel insert fits so snug and the lazer etch is annoying. I heard the gen crystal doesn't fit. Maybe someone can advise on this it would fix both problems. I changed the dial just because i had a gen one i picked up a while ago but against it the original dial SSD is pretty much spot on. The only giveaway as usual is the quality of the lume job on the markers. The gen is way out there, the rep cannot compete. Hope this is useful, thanks for looking P.
  7. Wow! I brought my 7020 tube and crown set last year for around $80 and put in in my red sub. I just brought five crowns some pretty beat up for $100 but of course no damn tubes, Rolex001 wanna sell me that tube...? P.
  8. I recieved one from Andrew with the new bezel and a gen insert went in with no filing, sanding or glue needed. i will post some pics soon. Cheers P.
  9. Hi, No. The noob datewheel lines up perfectly throughout the numbers and i took this datewheel from a black Noobmariner from Trusty. On the Josh "Perfect" the date mag is too far right so i changed the crystal to correct it for the gen dial. Cheers P.
  10. Thanks for your comments guys! The gen dial is actually too small for this case and the MBW case i have. It fits just inside the rehaut of both so the retaining ring inside centres the dial and then its locked down with the movement retaining tabs and screws. Wasn't sure if it was going to work, so much for MBW accepting gen parts... Tribal, yeah i agree but i tried a few spare cyclops i had and i like the larger size. Dunno why Rolex downsized them, 2.5 is so much better (i think so anyway)... Cheers P.
  11. Hi all, Having seen w.genzo's fantastic Franken 16610 (great work Tribal) i thought i would get the camera out and show you what can be done with a slightly less accurate but still pretty good case. I based it on a Joshua "perfect" sub simply because i brought one off of a member here a while back and didn't want to fork out 500 bucks on a WM9 just to pull it to bits. Here's the run down Josh "perfect" Sub case Genuine LV dial CG's reshaped Rehaut polished Crystal and date mag i replaced with what i had lying around Genuine tube and Crown Bracelet is a noob with Josh clasp sharp edges taken off and oiled, feels great Bezel insert replaced with more accurate colour and watchmaster pearl Noob datewheel Also has a 3135 look-a-like 2836-2 movement Thanks for looking P.
  12. Hi guys, i managed to get hold of a gen LV dial for my sub project and if anyone is going to get close enough to call your watch out on the rehaut the dial will give it away first. The font on the gen dial is far sharper and the black paint more glossy but the biggest giveaway is the lume. Is has a texture and eveness that even the best reps cannot replicate and of course it glows like a cats eye even in low light. The dial on my Josh "perfect" sub is one of the best i've seen on a rep but looks crap compared to the gen. But of course its a fraction of the price so not surprising really... thanks for looking, gen dial is on the left P.
  13. Yeah as far as i know all 1575 Rolex movements came with silver datewheels but were often exchanged for white ones when the watches went for servicing hence you sometimes don't see them in all movements. Mine one isn't too accurate though the 26 should be closed and of course the 3's aren't flat... P.
  14. Hi Mezzanine, thanks! don't worry post is a little slow this end but pretty dependable, i'll let you know when it arrives, cheers! P.
  15. Hi, Pretty sure its an MBW dial. I've got an NDT dial on my DRSD here's a pic for yer reference. Cheers P.
  16. Hi, i built this Tudor franken last year but the source for the correct case (its nothing like a Rolex sub case) that i used is no longer around but i believe they originated like all other quality cases from Vietnam. Dial is from Thailand and hands from Classicwatchparts. Its powered by a 2836 which has been made not to hack and has correct movement engravings. I will check around and let you know if i find something... Actually i don't think i can call this a franken coz nothing on it is gen... oh apart from the crown. Does that count then? P.
  17. Hi, With all this talk about whats real and what isn't i thought i'd show you this. I swapped a few watch parts for a complete Tudor 7016/0 sub in a fairly sorry state with a cheap eta 2840 movement which i believe was use in the plastic Swatches. The folded bracelet is a mixture too with 380 endlinks and a modern clasp which i'm sure is not a gen. I also have an old Tudor Oysterdate with a Tudor 2483, non-hack movement which is correct for the 7016/0 so i will swap them out. As you can see from the pics the dial, hands and insert are original and well aged but i don't intend to change them but the case is pretty banged up with dings and deep scratches all over. My question is do you think i should fix the case or will this devalue the watch in anyway. Thanks for your comments, i'm 99% sure its a gen with crappy movement but if anyone thinks otherwise pls let me know. Hope you can see enough from the pics. P.
  18. Beautiful watch Stilty and if you need to off load that extra link i've been after one for my 7836 for a while... Cheers P.
  19. Hi all, I was lucky enough to source a gen LV dial for a very good price but was a little surprised to find it is too big for an MBW 16610LV case. Does anyone know if the Watchmaker9 case will fit a gen dial? I've included some pics with my modded Josh 'perfect' LV. Its sits on a eta2836-2 movement. The Josh dial is pretty damn good except of course the date window being to far right. But the giveaways are the crown font is not as sharp as the gen and the lume markers are not consistantly even and are a different texture than the gen. But of course only a real close inspection by an expert (or rep collector) would spot this. Thanks for looking P.
  20. Here you go, good luck with yer projects... P.
  21. Hey Toadtorrent, thanks for yer informative reply. Actually i only need the noob dial to finish an MBW based franken and have been after one for a couple of months. TTK never bothers to answer my pm's and River is out of them for now. I saw the beginmariner on Josh's site have the noob dial but of course this doesn't mean a thing. Guess i'll just have to try elsewhere. Cheers P.
  22. Hi, can anybody tell me if Josh's Beginmariner is the same model as TTK's Noobmariner... Cheers P.
  23. Hey Diesel, good to see it come together looks great, enjoy...! P.
  24. Hi guys/gals, Gonna kill the hour hand at 6 on my speedy's Seagull movement but realised i got all the info on how to do so but cannot find anything on actually removing the movement from the case, removing the stem etc. Apologies if its been posted before but coudn't find it. Thanks to enlighten me... Cheers P.
