  1. Freddy, Ronin What's a fair price? I've been watching on eBay for sometime. Is $1,200 in the right ball park? When I started, my goal was to spend a few hundred bucks and "pull it off". Now, I wish to achieve the most accurate rep at a reasonable price point. Thanks
  2. I bought it that way from another member. Maybe others can chime in. It looks perfect. Beautiful open 6's and 9's.
  3. Since I am using non-gen movements, how can I transfer in a gen movement if the dial feet have been cut?
  4. I am thinking of putting a gen 1570 in either my 1680 or 1665 MBW. I just wonder if it's really worth it? Both watches look spectacular as is with gen crown, tube, crystals and inserts. The 1680 also has a gen date wheel. Also, will I be able to keep the dials? They are both NDT dials, vintagized nicely. Any thoughts?
  5. There is a WM9 blue dial for sale - unless it's already gone. I think I sa it on RG.
  6. It has a slight speck/blemish which I thought would drive me crazy but just adds to it's character! On the wrist, I don't even notice it.
  7. That "fake" dial looks amazing! Better than any rep I've ever seen. It's even vintagized. Only problem is that you need to spend 11k on the case!
  8. Thanks all! Just came home and carefully put this one away!
  9. Thanks, mate! I fully expect to. Always treat all my watches like gens. It's never been more applicable now.
  10. Here is Weisn089's original thread on this watch. It's quite a build. I will be taking some better pics next to it's step-brother on the weekend and then expect to find the Spinmaster in the for sale section. I still have a spare v72 movement that I hope to use for a silver dial. Still on the hunt for a gen dial and bezel.
  11. I don't have much time to post. But I received a very special package today. Some of you may recognize this watch. It is absolutely stunning. I took a few quick pics, put it on and must run out. Here's a teaser! It's the one on the right! Next to my Spinmaster with gen crown and gen crystal. It's amazing how fantastic the Spinmaster looks next to this one. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Here's a quick shot. Best I can do for now. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  12. What about Canada or the USA? I always wondered where to find one. Thanks
  13. Ok. Thanks. That would explain why most will at least mod the pearl.
  14. Ok, before I order, I have one more question. Am I better off with the Ofrei pearl or should consider buying this MBK insert with pearl on sale right here: Thanks
  15. My point was, it didn't degenerate into 9 pages of discussion as we have here or a similar amount on VRF when some very "reputable" seller was lured for fabricating papers for all his boxes. A gen Daytona dial was modified with paint. That's all there was to say!
  16. This has been an interesting thread. In response to the various comments about taking a gen part and modding it, guys on TRF do it all the time. They will add a red date wheel to a Yachtmaster, remove the cyclops, etc. In fact, Sheartime, a known and respected dealer in NYC recently listed a gen vintage Daytona dial which had the big red DAYTONA painted afterwards. It was clearly disclosed in the listing and no one said boo about it. It was a gen dial and it was repainted. I am a huge admirer of everything that is built here and Freddy's 6542 is as he claims. I certainly would love to have it on my wrist one day...
  17. He doesn't respond to emails! It's twice he lists it.
  18. Oh boy! You guys sure like to stir the pot! I can't wait...
  19. I would never dare re-post pictures of franken watches there. I actually think members at VRF are very knowledgeable about the tiniest little details of watches. Over at TRF, most of the posts are just a bunch of high-fives on new purchases but the discussions on VRF tend to be about little details that I find are often discussed here. It's quite funny that someone this week asked about a method for "fading" inserts. It didn't take long for that thread to be immediately halted given the premium some folks pay for a "ghost" insert or something that looks like it's been through a blender.
  20. Thanks. Very informative. I think everyone should have an explorer in the box.
  21. I just read this short but interesting post. http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=204595 Freddy, I think if they saw yours, they would fall off their chairs!
