  1. I think a couple of the original threads from 2007 got lost during 1 of the forum upgrades, but try this & this.
  2. I already need a longer bar (see below). I could not fit any more in the pic.
  3. In my opinion, virtually anyone can take great (watch) pics. There are 3 simple keys - read your camera's manual (pay particular attention to the macro section, which is key to getting details of watches), learn how to position the subject to reduce glare on crystals & practice, practice, practice. The vast majority of my pics were taken, handheld, with a 10+ year-old point & shoot (in manual or AV mode) My editing is generally limited to cropping/scaling the pic to a reasonable size & minor sharpening to bring out details. Remember, too, that for every brilliant pic you see, the photographer probably had to take dozens to get that 1 good shot. Beyond that, a little creativity helps to produce compelling compositions.
  4. Thanks, All. JoeyB - Why not just send all the good stuff to me & I will send you back a really nice pic.
  5. this
  6. I had the camera out, so I thought I would do an update of my old Hanging Daytonas, which has appeared in a number of gen sites' fav pic listings L-to-R - 6239 Daytona (Unsigned), 116509 Daytona, 6239 Daytona (Newman), 7016/1 Tudor Sub, 6536/1 Sub, 1665 Sea-Dweller (Double-Red), 1601 Datejust (Mystery), 5514 Sub (Comex), 6239 gold Daytona (Newman), 6542 GMT-Master (Albino), 6202 Turn-O-Graph Deluxe (precursor of the Sub)
  7. Ending the week wearing my beater

    JoeyB - Some additional info.
  9. Ditto that! Perfect match & I was able to buy a couple on ebay (1 with the same old logo mine has) for half the Amazon price. Thanks Red & All for your help.

Rolexaddict - If you were talking about Rolex Subs & working SCUBA divers, I would agree (no one in his right mind would wear an expensive piece of Rolex bling to work under the sea these days). But there are a couple of working airline pilots on TZ who occasionally post (flight deck) wristies of their GMTs. If I can locate 1 of those pics, I will repost it here for you. Found a few
  11. If it is the exact same model, that would be great. But it absolutely has to be the same 1 because similar chargers I tried turned out not to be compatible with these older 3Gs (even when they say they are). Actually, I need to buy a few of them since supplies for these old models are dwindling & I do not want to end up without a charger again. So if you know the brand name or remember where you got yours, that would be even more helpful.
  12. I need to replace my iPod 3G's car charger (the wires going to the dock connector are intermittent) But none of the chargers (home or auto) I can find either online or in Best Buy, Radio Shack or Apple stores work with my 2003-era iPod (Apple said they no longer make a charger for old iPods & recommended I buy a new 1, which, in Apple-speak, is insanely ridiculous). So I am trying to locate another car charger like this 1 that I bought last year. Unfortunately, I cannot remember who makes it or where I got it from? Can anyone recognize the charger or, at least, the brand icon on the connector so I can contact the company
  13. You can replace the bezel & dial with gens or more accurate aftermarket parts, but I think you have optimized what you have.

    Pan-Am

During that time (early 60s), Pan Am & trans-Atlantic flight were pretty synonymous & I think most boys wanted to be a Pan Am pilot at 1 time or another. Toss in the inimitable Rolex name along with the GMT's cool factor & you have a pretty powerful boy magnet. But my interest in Pan Am comes, in part, from my ownership of it 1 of the more blatant examples of the tv show's inaccuracy is its use of 20- or early-30-something actors for pilots (most airline pilots at that time were chosen from the ranks of WWII pilots, which, by the 1960s, put them in their mid-40s+).
  15. Look for the S in the laser etched crown @ 6, which is in every gen service crystal If it is not there, then it is not a gen service crystal. Remember, always buy the seller before you buy the watch.

    Inaccurate is putting it lightly.

I saw a bit of last week's episode, which included the Rolex Sub that looked like it has a sapphire xtal.
  18. Either the mainspring is not fully-charged (try manually winding it (slowly) for 40 turns, set it down on a table, face-up, & check it in 36 hours) or it needs cleaning/service. Remember, rep watches generally contain used &/or unserviced movements, so they often require service the day you receive them. After that, most mechanical watches should be cleaned/serviced every 5-7 years.
  19. All kidding aside, that is about as nasty a weather check as I can imagine. What do you do when it gets that bad? Other than keep your head down?
  20. I do not see any obvious issues (the iffy pics do not help much), but with an Asian (Taiwanese) seller having only a 98.9% average after 256 sales, definitely a case of buyer beware. On 2nd look, the caseback may be a later vintage than the rest of the case (new).
  21. You are just never happy are you?
  22. If you are using Firefox or another browser that contains an ad-blocking or script-blocking utility, try disabling it. However, if this was the cause, you would most likely be unable to see any pics. So I do not think this is the problem here, but certainly worth checking.
  23. Wore another Sub today
