  1. Well done on the small GMT hand. I did something similar for my Phase 1 '42.
  2. The dial has no relation (other than possibly color matching) to hands. Gen hands will fit a gen 1575 movement. If you have that, then you ought to use gen hands. If you have an ETA movement, then gen hands will not (easily) fit (without resizing). For ETAs, try Clarks.
  3. Of course, with vintage Rolex, anything is possible & this combination of dial/case has been rumored to exist, but I have never seen a gen with credible documentation
  4. Never had a problem with it (no broken bits or damaged holes). Just follow the setup instructions & keep the drill bit exposure to a minimum (long enough to drill through the material & no more).
  5. The most reliable movement is the 1 that is properly serviced/maintained by a good watchmaker.
  6. (Click the pic for details)
  7. No argument there. Theirs Mine
  8. Sorry to hear about the loss, but I would always contact the seller & give them a few days (at least) to handle it before doing anything else (including posting here). In most cases, the seller will reship the item. Between this & the currently insecure nature of International Registered Mail, it looks like we are entering a new dark age as far as reliable shipping goes.
  9. I see the fly in the ointment in all of these Venus-powered Daytonas (note the way the hour totalizer bleeds into the minute track) I think that answers the question about the subdial placement.
  10. Ditto. Could be quite a find. But, in order to estimate a value, you would need to post good, clear macros (1024x768-ish) of both the inside caseback & movement.
  11. Ditto. If you are going to keep that bracelet on the watch, I would brush finish the edges of the links to remove the shine. That looks wrong. Or, if you can deal with the springbar issue (search for Yuki bracelet & springbars), replace it with Yuki's 7206 or 7836, either of which will greatly improve the authenticity of an already nice watch.
  12. It gives those who do not qualify for the MVA a place to work...........& I am only half joking.
  13. Ditto both of the above. While I would not put any money on a happy ending, every once in awhile a minor miracle does happen.
  14. Sunday But co-axial's inspired me to switch over to my CHS for dinner
  15. I stand corrected. Statements made to me by 2 USPS Supervisors, who were explaining the current USPS policy as it relates to 1 of my 'lost' packages.
  16. The following references International Registered Mail only (not domestic Registered Mail or any other mail carrier or shipping service). If you have questions about other carriers or shipping services, please contact the carrier. International Registered Mail coming into the US may no longer be systematically scanned or signed-for each time the package changes hands. International Registered Mail has always been considered to be the safest method of international shipment. However, apparently the USPS (quietly) changed their policy regarding the treatment of International Registered Mail about 2 years ago, as a cost-saving measure. This means that a Registered package can now be shipped between post offices without being scanned or left at the addressee's door without a signature. Of course, they forgot to mention this change to their customers, who are still (mistakenly) relying on International Registered Mail as a totally secure method of shipping important packages. Now, if an internationally shipped package (sent via International Registered Mail) goes lost, the US Postal Service may no longer be able to account for it. Unfortunately, this is likely to have serious ramifications for people buying/selling Rolex & other high value watches via ebay, TZ & other online sites where watches are bought/sold internationally. (To the best of my knowledge, this USPS policy change does not affect domestic Registered Mail (Registered Mail sent & received within the US).) Sadly, this is yet another example of why governments can no longer be trusted.
  17. Rep cases vary quite a bit, but they generally tend to be a bit too big so either the dial has empty space around it or it falls right through. Because of the lack of consistency (& standardization) among rep cases, you cannot tell how your dial will fit until you try it out.
  18. Looks good. I would try to square-up the lower/inner corners of the CGs though. Inside the CGs, where the vertical planes meet the horizontal plane, the corners are too round & they should be more angular. Check out some gens & you will see what I mean.
  19. Search out my He valve tutorials. 1 of them contains a listing of tools & procedures for drilling holes through virgin steel. Relatively easy to do with the correct tools.
  20. Killing time. Outstanding metal today, gentlemen.
  21. Ending the work week wearing my 6202
