  1. Slipping the grasp of my Aryan 'Master to attend dinner with friends & my pearly white Newman
  2. The 1st generation A7750 used in the earliest secs @ 6 Daytona reps seem to have survived, whereas many/most of the later/current versions suffered high failure rates due to the design's inherent compromises. If your case & rotor looks like the watch in Step 2, then you likely have 1 of the heartier, early watches. I was fortunate to have picked up 1 each of the earliest 116508 & 116520s, both of which have never missed a tick, so to speak
  3. I would go with the black (darker) insert, but you need to replace that handpainted datewheel.
  4. I am not a strap aficionado & hand-vs-machine stitching would make little difference to me. But I appreciate your kind offer just the same.
  5. I assume you mean this pic I am certainly not a photographic expert, but it looks fine to me.
  6. Good point. If either dial has the Comex lettering painted (black, a la the gen) instead of simply letting the dial color through, I would go with that 1. Otherwise, I would still cast my vote for the white 1.
  7. It was & I did (see post #11).
  8. Except for the lume color, they look about the same (note the 2 in 2000 on both dials - same font). I would go with the white lume version.
  9. For whatever it is worth, according to the (translated) letters, the bezel has been replaced at least twice (the dial, at least once).
  10. The 5512 was originally fitted with a 7mm 700 Twinlock, however the other 2 use 6mm 6xx series Twinlocks (single line below the coronet). 700 Twinlock uses a 7000 tube (smaller diameter gasket fits into (crown) end of tube, larger diameter gasket fits into underside of crown)
  11. Ended up wearing my Aryan 'Master to end the work week
  12. Now that is what I call recycling. Beautiful!
  13. It is rare to find a vintage Rolex GMT movement for sale, but if you search ebay & the sale sections of timezone, vrf, etc, you may eventually find 1. Otherwise, the most difficult (& expensive) problem is locating all of the GMT components required to convert a standard 1575 to GMT form. I have never done a 1575GMT, but I completed a 1036-to-1036GMT conversion last year, which took me over 2 years to complete (it took that long to source all the parts). I posted a parts list for the 1575GMT a few months ago in response to a similar post by another member that you can find via the Search, but you will still need to locate the parts & find a watchmaker who is willing to tackle the work (I am not accepting new work).
  14. I would not be too sure about that.
  15. Definitely, a classic, in more ways than 1. It is unfortunate, however, that nearly all of the original watch had been replaced (by Rolex) as it no longer matches the original 6538 spec. I expect that is why Rolex was unable to authenticate it during the initial inspection. As an example, the original 1030 balance cock has been replaced with a later 1066 cock & it looks like some other movement components may have been replaced with later parts as well. Still, quite an exceptional story with a rock solid provenance.
  16. Still Thursday here & still wearing my Deluxe 6202
  17. Perfect Clones' 5510 does not do anything for me, but I think the Yuki is the best option for cost vs quality.
  18. Wearing my 'Graph today
  19. Lots of errors, but, for the money (especially, considering what it cost me in time/effort/money to construct 1), I think it is good enough & may be a steal (especially the white dial version).
  20. As Ubi said, as long as both movements are similar sizes, you can make 1 fit a case made for the other. I installed a V72 (same basic dimensions as V23) into a DW 7750 case, which took quite a bit of grinding/polishing, but it did work. You can search out my 6241 threads for details of the struggle.......er, I mean process.
  21. Because the correct bracelets for these watches (6635, 7205 or 7835/271 or 371) are virtually unobtainable & no one (that I am aware of) has yet repped them. So we are using the closest alternatives, which, in my case is a folded link 7835/357.
  22. Shipment took more than 1 month to arrive. Alot of the delay was due to the holidays. We will have to agree to disagree on this 1.
  23. I know the source of that pic, but I am pretty certain the bezel on the right is aftermarket.
  24. All the more reason why you should get 1 of these bezels.
