ExIIs are not my specialty & there are variations, but most of the ExIIs of similar vintage in my picture archives have dials like this The R in Rolex looks different, the location of the < is aligned differently relative to the minute track, differences in spacing, etc. Again, I have not done alot of research on these, so I could be completely wrong. But it seems off to me. And that, coupled with your comments about the seller's less than optimal pics, always makes me nervous.

Could be a loose rotor. Most likely, it is something simple, but you will not know until the case is opened & the movement inspected.

I would try Clarks T22. If it fits (I suspect it will), then keep an eye peeled for a gen xtal. The important thing, for me, are the engravings between the lugs, which appear to be proper engravings & not laser etchings. The slight dings & scratches belong there, but can easily be buffed out if they bother you.

The Cosmos look like what Phong is selling (nice, but alot of mistakes - search TZ or google for gold gen dial pics & see for yourself). The Valjoux's are frankens. If pricing is under a grand, then they may be a good deal for the movements alone.

Their reticence to fully AR the crystals in all of their watches & transformation of their (previously) world-class tool watches into Vegas-Baby bling.

Unlike the very accurate riveted bracelets sold separately by Yuki & other parts sellers, the type of bracelet shown in the OP's post is very poorly constructed & not very accurate. Best avoided at all costs. If you cannot use 1 of Yuki's, then I would recommend switching to a different type of bracelet or strap.

ebay, timezone, vrf, etc are good places to search for gen Tudor parts.

Most Tudors are ETA-powered (this is the principal difference between Rolexes & Tudors), which is why hands made to fit them should fit an ETA. Similarly, gen Tudor hands should fit an ETA.

Clarks has hands to fit ETAs, but I doubt Yuki's (which are made to fit Rolex movements) will.

Ditto z80's comments. Aside from the mismatched lume colors, very nice indeed. If you have not already done so, I would get the movement serviced to be sure it keeps ticking as beautifully as it looks.

In the case of wire wheels, these were offered as options by Triumph for the Spitfire, so they are not custom modifications. The items added to the OP's watch were never offered by Rolex for that watch. TeeJay - I am sure those wheels, like the bits added to the OP's Rolex, ARE attractive to the owner. But when you dabble with a classic design (& most Rolex watches are classic designs), you run the risk of cartooning the design in the eyes of those who do not share the owner's vision. And, worse yet, when you customize a Rolex, it just ends up looking like a 'fake Rolex'. Just my 2 cents, for whatever they are worth.

I, for 1, would love to see some 100% original designs from members, but customizing/personalizing a Rolex is akin to urbanizing a 'Benz, which is not my cup of tea.

Thanks. I think this dial demonstrates the difference between the typical aftermarket (newly made) dial & a gen dial that has been properly refinished by a professional dial restorer. Here is another gen dial I had refinished by the same restorer about 20 years ago

No, your jargon is incorrect. You refinish an old dial, as was the case with this 1 (done by a professional dial restorer - known gen Rolex dial which was repainted as original) A new dial is simply painted, as was the case for the new ETA dial blank I had repainted for my Phase I 6542 (at right below) (I posted a thread describing the construction details of these 6542 watches that you can locate via the search)

Ditto. I disagree. I think his dials are newly made. In other words, aftermarket. Quality & accuracy, variable. Again, I have not done extensive research on this model/version of Explorer, but the dial cited by the OP looks pretty good to me. At least, it does not seem to contain the same inaccuracies that the rep's dial has. However, the seller does not indicate what movement the dial's feet are made to fit. So it might be a good idea to clarify this with the seller before ordering.
