  1. Another thread containing useful technical info bumped for the benefit of those who missed it the 1st time around & might still find it useful.
  2. If you have a 103x with a date, then it ought to be a drop-in replacement for a monochrome (all black) datewheel. Congratulations on a nice find.
  3. The case profile is too tall/thick for an early Sub. But, otherwise, all things considered, an interesting curiosity. Might be worthy of a project.
  4. If that is a genuine Rolex 103x datewheel, it will fit a Rolex 103x movement. I do not believe it will drop-into any ETA-based (or similar) movements.
  5. Wore my CHS GMTII today
  6. Still wearing my Outgoing Particle Driver Geiger Counter.MP4
  7. I think that is because members of the Rolex specialty sites know the value of genuine, Rolex branded parts, while many ebay members do not. At the same time, ebay sellers often part with things because they need the money (so are willing to accept less than current value), while Rolex collectors sell to thin collections or because they have duplicates (so are able to hold out for premium returns). That is why you are considerably more likely to find a Rolex bargain on ebay vs VRF.
  8. Which Mac & B&W? I have sold/owned both. I have heard the Puppy's twice (in unfamiliar environments), but I think you would have to be tone deaf not to appreciate the technology that went into them. So did you buy the Sony projector?
  9. Yes. By the time you are finally old enough to know what you are doing, you are old enough to have better things to do.
  10. I just received a pic of the speaker. I was mistaken that it was a 5-way (I confused it with another speaker). It appears to be a 2- or 3-way, but, boy, was it sweet. Another friend just told me the amp may have been an experimental prototype from AudioNote, which you may have heard of.
  11. I think I've got a Phillips copy of that. I'll have to rummage around & see. As for Klipsch's 10 watts, that sounds about right - both his comment & the waste. Not to deviate too far off topic, I attended an audio show recently & they had a set of 5-way horns running in this 1 room that was being driven by this very high-end Japanese-made 2-watt triode amp that I had never heard of before (I used to be in the business, so that is saying something). They were driving the system from a studio master tape, so that has to be taken into account, but it was not only 1 of the most beautiful systems of the show (& there were many that could claim that title), but also 1 of the best sounding systems I have ever heard. I wish I could remember the name of the speakers. Maybe it will come to me..
  12. Interestingly, the fellow that owned the company (sadly, now defunct) that made those amps made a smaller (triode) version specifically for Klipsch speakers. My speakers are not very efficient, so it cannot play loud. But, then, I am not a headbanger, so it has never been a problem. Oh & nice timepiece.
  13. Braving the fallout, I wore my OPD today
  14. You are close, but not quite there yet. When you start factoring in how many donations of blood & semen that vintage Rolex bezel, pillar plate or clasp will cost you, then you have made it.
  15. Check this thread out.
  16. I think someone else did a similar comparison several years ago (Nanuq?), but great write up!
  17. Nice bit of luck there with the caseback.
  18. Is that your special lady friend (a la "The Big Lebowski")?
  19. Wearing my 'Graph today
  20. 2 options - replace the crystal with a gen (if you can find/afford 1) or click here (unfortunately, the lab referenced in the thread is no longer in business).
  21. Another of Ziggy's old tech threads that I am bumping mostly because it shows where we were 10 years ago & how far we have come.
  22. Another old tech thread that might be of interest to newer members. Bumped.
  23. A proven solution for an old problem that continues to plague all secs @ 6 Asian 77xx movements today. As of last year, I understand that the original watch used for this article is still running & keeping time. So bumped.
