  2. If a reliable private seller describes a dial as 'refinished gen dial', I would expect they mean a genuine dial that has been repainted. If a vendor describes a dial as 'refinished gen dial', I would expect they mean a dial that has been painted. Only if/when that dial plate can be authenticated by the gen company would I assume the plate to be genuine.

  4. A few things - Hands are designed to fit a specific movement. That said, they often require a bit of broaching (with a small, round file-type of tool) to increase the diameter of a hand's opening. Definitely, work that is best left to a pro & not something I would recommend you do until/unless you have a good bit of practice. As to the dial itself, I have seen better & worse. I am also 1 of the few here that do not like dials that have been heavily modded because they look 'artificial'. About all that works (for me) is a light coat of shellac or a few minutes in a 350 degree oven - both procedures have very fine dividing lines between art & damage, so practice 1st &/or proceed with GREAT caution. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to reverse modifications done to a painted dial short of replacement. So if YOU are dissatisfied with the result, you may need to consider a replacement. Again, dial mods/refinishing is not a task for the unskilled.
  5. Excellent work on the case re-shaping, but I am not sure about your characterization of the OEM crystal shape. It looks like the aftermarket crystal you have on your watch has flat sides that curve. The curve of the original crystal began at the bezel. But I do not think anyone would cite that as an indication of fakery since most gens have been fitted with a modern T21, which is beveled (which is my preference, since it gives the watch a jewel-like quality) instead of curved. Well done in any case.
  6. It sounds like the movement may be loose or incorrectly installed in the case so 1 or both hands are coming into contact with the underside of the crystal.
  7. So far, so good.
  8. I could not tell based on the seller's pics, but, in general, bad pics = ripoff.
  9. The 1st is junk. The 2nd looks good, but I cannot tell you whether it is worth $350. You might compare to similar gens & top end Asian dials like MQ, Phong or NDtrading. Be prepared for sticker shock though.
  10. Yes
  11. Why not just pop it in the oven along with your chocolate chip cookies until both are a nice golden brown (there is a thread floating around here that I posted many years ago describing this)?
  12. Sorry, I was not aware of that, so my comment was not intended that way. Best wishes for a complete remission & a 100 year life-span.
  13. If I did, you would probably die long before I reached you on the wait list.
  14. Very heavy metal in this thread, gents.
  15. Pics (including the G42 after it arrives)?
  16. Or just try to avoid Chicago and Baltimore altogether.
  17. I have never seen anyone selling just an aftermarket Daytona insert by itself. There may be such a seller, but I have never seen 1. You may have to bite the bullet & replace the bezel. Even if you did find an insert, I would wager that it would require alot of fiddling to get it to fit your bezel properly & that may be 1 of the reasons they are not sold individually.
  18. If recoil is comfortable with +p, I will have to give it another look. The G43 is definitely THE carry pistol these days, but the 2 times I have handled it, it just did not feel right. Even with the mag extension, it just feels too small in my hand & I do not have big hands by any measure. I do not carry often, but when I do it is usually my CZ82 or Beretta 1951 (early, smaller version of the 92 series).
  19. With the comments regarding positioning taken into account, nice work.
  20. It is an AAC Tirant 9mm. The Tirant was actually purchased for my Beretta 92F, but for some reason, it keeps ending up on the 5. Go figure. I have a Griffin Optimus on order (if you are unfamiliar with them, check this out) for the 5 & some .30 guns, so I can put the Tirant back on the Beretta.
