  1. Gentlemen - you are free to express your views, but not to use foul language or to attack specific people. That is over the edge. While I believe there is more than 1,000 years of factual evidence to support the premise that Islam is a violent religion (or cult, as some historians have suggested), to suggest that all Muslims are violent or ignorant is itself ignorant & unenlightened. But 1 cannot ignore the fact that nearly all of the military-style attacks against innocent, unarmed civilians since the late 70s were committed by Muslims. Not Christians, not Jews, not Norwegians, not South Koreans & not Texans. The perpetrators are nearly always Muslims & their 'jihad' is always against the 'Great Satans' - Jews, Israel, the United States & other western societies. You can rationalize or feel whatever you want, but that does not change the facts.

  3. Interesting analogy, but the fact remains that if all of these Islamic terrorist attacks since 1978 on innocent civilians had been committed by Jews or Christians, there would have been loud, unequivocal & nearly unanimous condemnations from virtually every Jew & Christian. The reason so many Jews & Christians look on Muslims with suspicion is specifically because the silence from the Islamic world in the face of ongoing & ever-more violent acts against innocent civilians is deafening. Every society has its share of evil people. The difference between the civilized & the uncivilized is how each society treats those evil people. The civilized condemn & punish them, while the uncivilized celebrate them. (Palestinians dancing in the streets on 9/11)
  4. Excuse me? There is no reason for you to lock this thread.
  5. Ken - Murder on a grand scale is exactly what these Islamics have been threatening the west with for literally hundreds of years. Now, we can debate who started the Crusades until hell freezes over, but the fact remains that since at least 1978, Muslims have been threatening 'Death to America' & 'Death to Jews' & doing their best to make good on those threats. I just do not see anything similar coming from the west. In fact, it is because the west has been so civil in the face of this Islamic barbarism that it has not just continued, but snowballed. Sometimes, you really do have to fight fire with fire (as opposed to stern words & appeasement). Even Homeland gets it. Thanks for the link, Ken. It demonstrates that nearly all of these violent terrorist acts were/are committed by leftists &/or religious fanatics (of all stripes).

  8. You decide:57% of Arab Israelis say Islamic Movement represents themPoll: 18% of Muslims in Israel say ISIS is not a terror group 'In last year’s survey, 24% of the Arab Muslims demonstrated ‘positive’ and ‘positive to some extent’ views or refused to comment on ISIS. That’s nearly a quarter of the Arab Muslim population either supporting ISIS or remaining silent on its atrocities only 12 months ago.' How Muslims fuel ‘Islamophobia’

  10. Impossible to say without trying them. The problem with aftermarket cases is that there is little or no quality control or consistency of parts. A gen tube or xtal may fit perfectly into 1 case, but they may not fit in the next case from the same source. Because the crown fits onto the tube (not the case), a gen crown will fit a properly installed gen tube. Most (not all) of the time, you can get a gen tube to fit into most cases. However, you may need to retap the threading since in the case depending on the type of threading used for the original (aftermarket) tube. But, again, the only way to know what gen parts will fit YOUR case is to try them on your case. There are hundreds of construction threads on RWG that you can research via the Search. I would recommend you do that. Also, check out the pinned articles in the Watchmaking forums.

  14. A lot of brilliant GMTs in this thread, including the OP's 'new' 1. Well done gentlemen.
  15. If you find yourself back near these shops, tell them you are a member of the world's top replica watch collector forum (& feel free to refer them here). Then, ask if they will permit you to take pics of the store for the 40,000+ RWG members (who are all potential buyers). That may sway them to be a bit more favorable towards your pic request. And good post!
  16. 'Accurate' is the key word. 100% accuracy will cost you a gen. 98% accuracy will cost you several thousand dollars for a high-end V72 franken. 95% accuracy will cost you 4-5 grand for a good V72 franken. 90% accuracy can be had for several hundred dollars for a 775x rep.........& so on. There are many threads you can find via the Search detailing the options. Although it has not been updated for a few years, a good place to start is Bytor's Daytona review.
  17. My sympathies to the people of Paris and a warning for the rest of us: we had better take off the gloves and acknowledge that these fiends are waging war on the civilian populations of the west before it is too late.

  21. Buy the seller, before you buy the Rolex. Unless the seller is a known, long-time Rolex collector/seller, I would presume aftermarket until/unless proven otherwise.
  22. Try some local watchmakers. Alternatively, you can buy generic hands from most of the usual watch parts sellers (eg, ofrei.com). You will need to know the hole size to order the correct hands for your Lemania movement.
  23. Looking forward to seeing the assembled project. In the meantime, here is something similar to whet your appetite
