  1. Ditto. Oops.
  2. Ditto the other 2's comments. Phong's cases are (generally) very good, but other parts are more hit & miss. Plus, based on the 2 (expensive) pre-assembled frankens I have personally inspected (not to mention some of the travesties Ziggy showed me), if you choose to go that route, I would factor in the cost of a complete overhaul upon receipt (with additional costs to fix whatever is wrong upon arrival). When it comes to the purchase of a pre-assembled franken, the old adage of 'Buyer Beware' should be remembered.
  3. As best as I can make out based on the poor pics, it looks aftermarket. As goes the general rule -- honest sellers post pics that reveal details, while criminals post pics to hide them.
  4. Ending the work week lugging this old scrap around
  5. With these, the better fakes look like the gens, so the old adage to buy the seller before you buy the Rolex applies.
  6. What Ken said or it is a defective aftermarket. Rolex (Tudor) would not release a caseback without threading. Just no.
  7. I disagree. A watchmaker could probably thread the caseback, but you should not have to pay a watchmaker to do that. It should have been done by the factory. Because it was not, the part is 'defective' & should be returned to the seller for exchange or refund.
  8. Just past midnight & still wearing my pre-Comex Sub
  9. Due to the US holiday yesterday, I am starting the Monday Wristies today (Tuesday). Wearing my pre-Comex Sub
  10. ebay or most watch supply houses (if your watchmaker is professional, he should already know this).
  11. It sounds like you installed 1 of the screws that fit into that shallow hole into another hole. I would back-track your work to locate a short screw you put into a deep hole or check with a local computer store (or your laptop vendor) for a replacement screw.
  12. Gen 1601 Datejust with (somewhat rare) 'Mystery' dial, 62510H/555 bracelet & powered by caliber 1575, circa 1970. Sammy Davis, Jr had the only other 1 like it that I have seen.
  13. Can you decase & remove the hands/dial? If not, take the watch to a local watchmaker & have him do it. The downside is that he may look at the movement & just say he cannot match the stem because he is unfamiliar with the movement. Whereas, if you just bring him a stem, there is more of a chance he will just search through his parts &/or parts books to find a match.
  14. I would take the stem (without the movement) into a local watchmaker (or 2) & ask if they have a replacement.
  15. Ending the work week with Mystery
  16. I would have gone with a red (or yellow) strap, but very nice, Nanuq.
  17. Wore 1 of my Subs today
  18. Wearing Goldie for meeting with important clients today
  19. The bottom 1 looks genuine.
  20. Two [marketing] words: wrapped and plated. Otherwise, they are the same thing.
