  1. The dial looks like a good (not perfect) aftermarket dial. Although I cannot see the Valjoux engraving along the edge of the plate below the balance, the movement looks like a VJ72. Otherwise, I cannot tell if the other parts are gen or aftermarket.....& if aftermarket, whether they came from Phong. In a case like this, buy the seller before you buy the watch.
  2. Not perfect, but very nice.
  3. Phong sells both parts & pre-assembled frankens. Go to his Contact page & ask him for pricing on a 16520.
  4. Expensive & quality is variable, but click here.
  5. Upload the pics to photobucket.com or another photo hosting site. Then, copy the 'Direct' link & paste it into your message.
  6. There is some very heavy metal in view today, gentlemen. Well done all.
  7. Looks wrong to me. Shady sellers post pictures that hide details, honest sellers post pictures that highlight details. Bad pics are usually an indicator of dishonesty. Bad pics of a Rolex is nearly always a guarantee of dishonesty. As always, buy the seller (look for established Rolex sellers with 100% satisfaction rating with at least 100 previous Rolex-related sales) before you buy the Rolex.
  8. Ditto the other 2's comments. Phong's cases are (generally) very good, but other parts are more hit & miss. Plus, based on the 2 (expensive) pre-assembled frankens I have personally inspected (not to mention some of the travesties Ziggy showed me), if you choose to go that route, I would factor in the cost of a complete overhaul upon receipt (with additional costs to fix whatever is wrong upon arrival). When it comes to the purchase of a pre-assembled franken, the old adage of 'Buyer Beware' should be remembered.
  9. As best as I can make out based on the poor pics, it looks aftermarket. As goes the general rule -- honest sellers post pics that reveal details, while criminals post pics to hide them.
  10. Ending the work week lugging this old scrap around
  11. With these, the better fakes look like the gens, so the old adage to buy the seller before you buy the Rolex applies.
  12. What Ken said or it is a defective aftermarket. Rolex (Tudor) would not release a caseback without threading. Just no.
  13. I disagree. A watchmaker could probably thread the caseback, but you should not have to pay a watchmaker to do that. It should have been done by the factory. Because it was not, the part is 'defective' & should be returned to the seller for exchange or refund.
  14. Just past midnight & still wearing my pre-Comex Sub
  15. Due to the US holiday yesterday, I am starting the Monday Wristies today (Tuesday). Wearing my pre-Comex Sub
