  1. The crown is loose on the stem. The caseback must be removed, the stem lock depressed to withdraw the stem & the crown needs to be screwed back onto the stem. If you lack the knowledge/tools, I would take the watch to any pro watchmaker & they can probably do it while you wait. This is a common problem with reps. Remember, 1 of the reasons the gen costs multiple thousands & the equivalent rep is only hundreds is because there is little or no QC involved in rep production. You get what you pay for.
  2. Were it me, I would consult a lawyer or pay the fine (the cost will be about the same). Otherwise, assuming you did not say anything in your ebay auction that could be construed as suggesting they were real (if so, that is illegal & I would pay the fine & consider it a learning experience), I would send them a letter back explaining that your brother brought them back from his tour in Iraq &, based on ebay's note, you realized they were fake & threw them away (ie., they are long gone). It was an honest mistake. Most likely, you will receive 1 additional letter, which I would answer similarly. In most (not all) cases, that should take care of it.
  3. Well, that just about says it all. Welcome back, Bill. I hope you can stay awhile.
  4. Ending the workweek wearing my 1106509
  5. Looks aftermarket & ditto dropbear2008's $500.......... comments.
  6. The spring resides in a channel on the inside of the bezel & clips onto the underside of the retaining ring on the case. You may be able to source a spare from the seller or some watchmaker may have them.
  7. That is the Driving Wheel (1530 (base caliber) part 7837), which looks like its pinion was broken off in the plate.
  8. PM sent.
  9. Who wants to see pics of that nasty old thing?
  10. Eeeeeek! You just scared the (neighbor's) cat!
  11. Where are the pics of your 2 frankens? As SSTEEL pointed out, do not use the forums for backdoor sales.
  12. I cannot answer your question, but, in general, most smaller shops tend to be rep-friendly. Your best bet is to google watchmakers in your area & phone them to find out.
  13. Well done.
  14. Search out the 'powdered graphite' thread & give it to your watchmaker. To date, none of the treated watches have failed.
  15. I think some of us have entirely too much free time.
  16. Wore my OPD today
  17. Love this pic. It caught my eye during the wristies. I know how much goes into these '42s & this perfectly typifies what is possible if you have the testicular fortitude (& cash) to stick with it.
  18. Buy the seller before..............
  19. Good, clear macros pics of the date wheel & related components &/or the movement model be very helpful, but also check to be sure you have the correct date wheel & calendar ring for your specific caliber & that the ring is fully seated onto the pillar.
