  1. I believe that there may have been some attempts to franken these, by the guys over on RWI. Not really sure, but I believe I read that some were. In most cases, the most that has been done is a double AR. Crystal, and straightening out crooked AP logos and crooked indices. Not really franken stuff, mostly cleaning up mistakes!! 2. I have one ordered one from Toro as well, it shows acceptance, for about 3 days. I'm not worried, nor should you be. Tracking is pretty hit or miss, and the busier the season, the more erratic the tracking can get. Sit back relax and your watch will arrive shortly Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. That my friend is absolutely beautiful!! Great work.
  4. I believe I bought one of these a couple of years back. What I saw on the website was definitely not what I got!! Thanks to the noob for posting, always good to get feedback especially about someone who is selling Mis- represented goods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Very nice!! Certainly not something you see, so yours will definitely be "one of a kind". Would be nice if you could give us a rundown on what parts you used for your build.
  6. Glad you are feeling better, You don't want there to be a "next time" !!!!
  7. One of my favorites as well, just brought a box of Hoya Double Coronas back from Casa del Habanos in Grand Cayman. Resting in my humidor for a few weeks before I smoke one! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. ST is a wholesale house, so you need to have and account with them to order. You should be able to set one up using something like XXXXX Watch repair Name, address, phone, etc. Usual things you need for a business account. never ever mention anything remotely related to reps, they are very anti-replica, even though they sell a ton of aftermarket stuff!!
  9. Beautiful watch, and as close to perfect as you could ever want. Misiekped is the best Rolex watchmaker around and his work is beyond compare. He has built and worked on quite a few for me, andI have always been more than happy with his work. Mike built one for me almost exactly like yours, only difference I used the bracelet off my older BF that was better than the noob with "soft shoulders" Mine was a long term project, first gen crystal, then the bezel set, then the gen dial, wore that combo for a couple of years, and then decided to go all the way with the converted yuki 3135, gen hands, DW, crown. I also had to buy a noob case as the older BK wasn't up to what Mike wanted to work with. Now I have two, my almost gen as well as one he put together using the noob components in my old BK case. I'm giving it a test run right now, and if it is OK, It gets the noob bracelet, and then to the sales forum. WEill make a nice watch for someone who isn't interested in modding up one. As i said, that is a beautiful watch, and certainly a long term keeper. Only thing better, and maybe only like 1% would be a gen at twice the price! Like your user name, not many folks know what propofol really is!! Most only associate it with the drug that "killed" Michael Jackson.
  10. Doxa 300T US Divers on a new Doxa Beads of Rice Bracelet Love the watch, but I really like that Hoya hiding behind it !!
  11. To each his own, the screw problem may be a non starter for some folks, for others it's no big deal. I believe that I would take the watch, examine the screws when you get it and if they are too bad in real life in good light, under the conditions that someone would notice, or If they are just bugging you to death then I would attempt to find some replacements. Ryan, like Legend said is a good guy and seems to be able to get parts. The other alternative of course is to reject the watch get a refund and either buy the JF or try another dealer. I would suspect that the reason some of these watches come on sale is at the end of a run, the manufacturer's have a few of these that got boogered up in some way shape or form while being assembled, and they ended up as factory rejects. At some point, they off the dealers a really good deal on the watches which the dealers pass on to the buyers. What they should do, but won't is tell you up front that some of these sale watches are "Seconds" and may have cosmetic flaws. This is just my idea on the subject and I may be way off base on what these watches really are, but the fact that you got three in a row with basically the same problem leads me to the conclusion above.
  12. Well, the dealer hasn't returned my email. I've explained in detail what occurred. I sort of feel like the ball is in his court. I would expect that if he is interested in what happened, or have concerns that this may be a routine thing with PayPal purchasers, he would get back with me. Problem with this sort of thing, a lot of buyers will not wait around to sort something like this out, they will just move on to another dealer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Buddy, you had us going there!!! Man, I sure hope you find that pearl[emoji4] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. I'm still waiting to hear back from the Dealer. If you don't fill in the two boxes, you cannot proceed, if you hit continue, a red border appears around each box and the caption "required information" comes up. At that point I cancelled the transaction. This was a standard "pay for goods or services" not Gift. Hopefully he will get back with me, because if there is a flag on his account, everyone who tries to use that email address to pay is going to encounter the same problem..
  15. That is exactly what I did. Haven't heard back from him. I have been on PayPal since it started, and this is something new, I use PayPal to pay merchants all the time, especially in cases where I have never done business with them before and would rather not give them a credit card. 16. Tried to order a watch this morning from one of the TD's. He accepts PayPal so that was my payment choice. Logged on to PayPal typed in the payment amount ( less than 400 USD) right below two boxes popped up, first was recipients first and last name, second one wanted country of residence. I have never had that happen before. My questions, has this happened to anyone else? And second is this is and indication that PayPal has flagged this account and is trying to tie in names, etc.? 18. Freddy, that's some serious firepower you got there!! Like the watch too Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. As Mike said, pay the PayPal fees, and give yourself a bit of "peace of mind ". Also remember, the vast majority of buyers and sellers are dead honest. Do the good guys a good turn, and for goodness sakes don't put ANYTHING in the comments box. PayPal obviously has some high powered software that flags anything that has been programmed in like the initials of all the forums, the words replica ,rep and who knows what else. If you feel like the deal is going south, let Mike know before you initiate a PayPal dispute. Sometimes it's and honest problem and a few PM's between the seller and Mike can get everything straight. Another thing, due diligence on the part of the buyer can prevent a lot of misery and problems down the road. This is the time of year when the scammers here, on other forums ( rep and genuine) are looking to make a fast buck. Being careful deliberate and fact checking will go a long way toward stopping the scammers in their tracks. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Pretty nice story. Lots of dial information that is probably not known. Some really beautiful dials. What this reinforces to me is that the vast majority of Rolex "experts" who think that they are in the know, really don't know! Rolex knows, but Rolex never tells, so the "experts" speculate and after a while their speculation becomes fact, at least to the don't knows. Great example of this is the comment made on the VRF to the effect that the Cosmograph was a beautiful watch, but that's and aftermarket dial? If it weren't for those Singer catalogs and concrete evidence that all those proto dials exist, the "don't know" but think they know crowd would convince everyone that this was indeed some aftermarket dial. 21. From the article in a post last week about the watch industry suffering a downturn, due to the global economy trending downward, and especially the slowdown in sales to China, it's a good possibility that established "Grey market" retailers will be offered lots of watches at pretty big discounts. The regular retailers and AD's have to move them and if the y don't sell at retail, they have to sell to discounters. Not sure how the watch industry works, but in a lot of retail lines, when you place and order, there is a minimum number of pieces, or a minimum dollar value to order. also some companies make you take a few "dogs" to get the good stuff. Will be interesting to see what plays out. From indications already, there are predictions that this Christmas shopping season is going to be less than stellar for retailers. Keep on the lookout if you are watch shopping, may well be some great deals to be had, even after CM.
  22. If you are looking at a S/S DJ,that price is high. If you are looking at a S/S and Gold TT, then probably in the ball park. I bought my wife a TT lady DJ with a diamond bezel and MOP Dial for around that, but it was over 10 years ago. The diamond bezel was aftermarket as was the MOP dial, but they are good quality and the diamonds are very nice and real!! The only advantage to buying from and AD is having a warranty and a local dealer if you have a problem. Also has it had a recent service and papers? A 10 year old watch if it hasn't been serviced is past due for one. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. I believe that one reason they won't discuss specs, is most of them don't know any of the technical information. The second reason is their paranoia that if they give out technical information, someone is going to reproduce parts that will be as good as the genuine at 1/10th the price. News Flash, it's already been done!!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
