  1. BP Fifty Fathoms today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. One thing I found out, the tritium tubes glow very brightly for a long time, but they eventually "expire". When that happens, the watch dial doesn't glow at all. To replace the tritium, the watch has to go back to Marathon and they replace the dial and hands. I was told that this was expensive and they are pretty slow. So one caveat, when buying a used watch, if it's older it may not have any Lume at all, and it's not as simple as sending it to a modder to have a dial relumed with super luminova. 3. Probably better to post this in the Rolex forum, lots of knowledge there. Right off, the clasp is wrong, the 62473 is a jubilee bracelet so the clasp has been changed to the incorrect one. I don't care for the Explorers, and never got familiar with them, but lots of guys on the Rolex forum here are very knowledgeable regarding Explorers.
  4. There is a discussion going on in the AP forum about these new divers. Personally, I like divers that are divers, and chronos that are chronos, but not a mix of the two. Big minus for me, they lost the date feature to incorporate the chrono module. Wonder what happens when some guy decides to run his chrono while submerged 30-60 feet? at some point it will be a disaster. Main reason Rolex and later everyone else who was concerned about water resistance went to the screw down pushers, as the old pump pushers were almost impossible to keep sealed. Not that anyone will ever dive with one of these, but when you claim 300 meters water resistance, someone will try it not at 100 meters, but maybe at 100 feet!!
  5. How old is it? Does it come with any extras? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Just from a quick look around, which by the way you could have done. You can buy a brand new one for around 900.00 USD, used run from 409-600 USD based on condition, age, box, papers, bracelet or strap. Go to the Military Watch Resource Forum, lots of info on Marathon watches. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. The MBW will accept genuine parts, so the insert should work OK as well as the T-39. Here is my MBW based 1665. Gen insert, Crystal, crown, hands, movement, bracelet and endlinks. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I'm a big fan of AP's, especially the divers. I do like a lot of the ROO chronograph as well, despite pretty miserable luck with a7750 movements!! Having said that, I have never been a fan of chronograph diver combos. First off, as a diver I want a watch that is easy to read, the simpler the dial the better. The more subdials complications, etc. you add, the harder it is to make out the most important thing which is elapsed time. I know, most everyone dives with computers now, including me, and they are wonderful tools however dive safety is based on redundancy and a watch is a good backup. Second, it has been proven that it is impossible to "idiot proof" any mechanical object. What happens when the "idiot" decides to run his Chrono at 60 feet depth? Probably going to flood the watch. Maybe not when it is brand new, but down the road, brittle "O" rings, lack of grease and next a disaster. Last but not least, they added a chronograph function, but lost the date? Unfortunately important to me. So, for me, the Diver that this watch is based on is a great watch, probably difficult to improve on, but add the Chrono function, delete the date function and it's a pass for me. 8. You gave me a hint in the last PM I got from you a couple of days ago, I was just too dumb to think about it!! Got turned around by aflop's "hint"!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  10. Haven't worn this one in a looooong time!! Well modded with a 2893-2 motor
  11. I believe it says Anchorage Alaska 6132.31 KM., and you are correct this city has many times more people than the entire state of Alaska. State population less than 800,000, Anchorage around 299,000.
  12. Singapore? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks sir. If it were mine, I would do exactly what you suggest. I will look on EBay and see what comes up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Guys, just thought I would throw this out on the Tag forum, looking for help. I have a friend that owns a gen Tag Professional. He lost the insert several years ago, and would like to get a replacement. His wife gave the watch to him, so it has sentimental value. Thanks Here are a couple of photos. 16. Seems like their prices are in the 500-800 USD range. They are also making a homage to the Omega Seamaster 300, which looks pretty nice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Mine will not load on my computer. Running Win 7 and IE10. I get the "This page can't be displayed" Working OK with tapatalk it looks like.also works OK with Google Chrome. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Buy one of the last of the old stock MBW watches for sale here. Will take a little case modding to use a gen dual, but it's not difficult. Will accept gen parts. Go to the sales forum and look for Rolexfinders ad. I agree that a phong or Yuki case would be the best, bet, however not sure that it would be cheap. The phong case is 1250.00, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. The Ofrei pearls are very good. At one time in the past, it was stated here that they were from the same source that makes the pearls for Rolex. Probably the most common mods to these are Gen Insert/pearl Gen crown Rework the crown guards Drill out the lugholes to accept gen or aftermarket springbars Nice thing is these watches have the correct movement I believe. If not the best bet would be an ETA 2846 slow beat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. First off, I agree with Nanug of the north!! Go with the MBW cases, for both your builds. The MBW 1665 as well as the MBW 5513/1680 case.both accept gen parts which is a big plus when you are building Frankens. The a3135 movement is not what you want, mainly because it is a fast beat movement used in newer model watches,i.e the 16610, not the 1680. What you need for both of your builds are serviced ETA 2846 movements, which are slow beat. You can send your MBW Caseback (1680) to jmb and he can engrave it properly for the 9401 Tudor. AFA the choice between the 1665 white or red dials, one consideration is can you pull off the red? Gens are selling for pretty big prices, probably at least 50 to 100% more than comparable condition whites. Also remember the Caseback lettering is different so you will need to decide the color before you buy the case. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. I absolutely love this one. Serious AP envy my friend. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Big A, Anything to help my old tired eyes !!! I find the date numbers are much easier to read on my S/S V7. May be the guru double AR Crystal, but it's definitely clearer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. You will be a happy camper when it arrives, that's for sure!!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
