  1. It's better without it. I've tried it out, but a good match is harder to find these days. Maybe next time I'm able to put it together, it won't be so improper. Damn, looks good though!
  2. Nanuq has got those sharp as a tack Alaskan eagle eyes! By the way Tanfoglio, VERY nice pics man!
  3. What I do know is that Davidsenjpn is a great guy and an excellent seller who has terrific products. If I were you, I would buy both! That is what I will be doing! Cheers
  4. I finally got around to it, otherwise, forget it.
  5. I like the alternative look of leather with the vintage Daytonas. It is a refreshing break from the all-too-common oyster bracelet. Vintage chronos and leather go very well together. I also agree, add a Rolex strap buckle & you've got yourself a winner. Here's an old shot of one of my vintage chronos strapped with leather and with a Rolex buckle:
  6. That is really hot! You knew that I would LOVE that one. Once again, killer work my friend! Cheers from Euno
  7. I love that watch. I gotta get one, or a 009.
  8. Very nice frankenwatch - how is the project coming along? Is it finished yet? On another note... STILL NO MK XV, IT'S JUST TOO DAMN HARD TO RECREATE.
  9. Here are some preliminary pics I took this afternoon for you guys... Valjoux 72 movements scavengd (GASP!!!) from various vintage chronos - all movements serviced. OEM parts used as needed. Enjoy. PS. I will be picking up 2 more by then end of next week - stay tuned.
  10. Ohhhh it ain't easy scavenging movements from such lovely watches. I've done a few and my heart sunk each time I ripped out the movements. ***Gasp*** Anyhow, I'm done with doin' it though. I've got my V72 6263 keeper. The other ones I have made are up for grabs (hint hint hint). Cheers
  11. Yup, u heard tha good news. U saw my freeeesh writin' on tha wall... I'm back in the 'hood, albeit on a limited basis. Still though, I will be holdin' it down as usual, u know my style!!!
  12. Yes, perhaps it is indeed time off. It's been a while since I've been here (or anywhere around the board). Call it a, uhhh, break? Or a sabbatical? See ya when I see ya...
  13. L.A. + Tokyo = lots & lots & lots & lots & lots of $
  14. Best regards, man. I am glad to see that you are back. CHEERS
  15. Ultra accurate. Really friggin' accurate. I mean, better than any mechanical I've owned or own. Better than my Rolex 1520 and Rolex 1560 and 1575 movements. And my 5513 keeps +1 per 24 hours. The same for my 1675. Get the 214 movement version, forget the 218 for starters. There is nothing in the world like a 214. Try to get one that has not been rephased as there is increased wear to the tuning fork tines that can occur over time. The best ones have built in voltage reducers (resistor) soldered into the electronics. Sure the Accu-cell batteries work, but they are kinda expensive compared to using Energizer 387S. Some 214s work fine with 387S, some you have to use Accu-cells. It's a hit or miss. Here a few of mine, some are not in the fold anymore though. My favorites are the Astronaut and the very rare oversize Swiss version of the Spaceview. Try and find this Spaceview, I am sure that you can't!
  16. "Eunomians", mmmmm... Latin, yes, and a name, too.
  17. The bridges don't fit at all. No matter what the hype is, they do not fit. I have tried, so has my watchmaker. If the sellers are getting positive feedback it's because they have returned the buyer's money with no hassles. Andy's redials are, well, less than good. I am not speaking about Ubi's dial. All the others are poor poor redials. Andy has great stuff, but just not his redials. Also, he has sold frankens as 100% genuine in the past on eBay. Just a word of caution folks. He is a great seller and a pleasure to deal with if you are not buying a 6542 deemed 100% OEM. Otherwise, hey, go for it.
  18. Seen this type of mod done for many years, too. Looks neato, but somehow the 1675 is made to have a cyclops. The dial and hand arrangement is busy as heck, the cyclops tames the busyness. I know this sounds weird, but it seems to be the case. The non-cyclops makes the dial/hands seem cluttered. I've tried the non-cyclops dome on mine, looks hot, but it doesn't get a cigar in my book. But hey, different strokes 4 diff folks.
  19. Of course u guys knew that I'd prefer the old one, so I guess I didn't need to post
  20. DAMN nice job! Finepics, you are indeed a veritable Relume Machine! I can't believe that there are folks out there who can do such fine work without being bionic cyborgs. Wow, amazing stuff. Cheers
