  1. And here I thought Detroit learned you can't fleece people... I'm sure it's a really nice watch, but I can't get over the prices. $1000 for a quartz mvmt that probably only cost $30?
  2. Stuhrling is such an inexpensive brand it is hardly worth the effort to make a counterfeit in the first place. Second, Stuhrling is not know as a high quality or a excellent fit and finish watch. It is a Chinese made watch with the intention of misleading people into thinking it is a high priced swiss made watch. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice watch and will likely last just as long as other watches in its price range. It's just not a Rolex at a Timex price.
  3. But isn't this the case with most of the watches that are mass produced today? And yes I would even include Rolex in this grouping... Most of the watches today are mass produced clones, and yet we all line up and drool over them, some of us poor more money then we should into buying these gens when there is not much difference in what our "friends" from China can make for us.
  4. +1000 Dude, what'd you just say? I gather your talking about methods of refinishing cases?
  5. Angus said it would be $298 for the preorder and $319 after. If you get his newsletter he said you could use the 5% Christmas discount code on top of that.
  6. I think it looks pretty good, they have been working on this for over a year now! In looking closely at the movement pics it looks like it could be a Seagul movement, if so that would make for a pretty solid movement with nice decoration.
  7. I think I have a copy at the house, I can check and get back to you later.
  8. Mike, it is us the members that owe you the thanks for the hard work in putting these raffles together time and time again!
  9. He is on eBay, seller name is penzrus. Contact him and let him know your from rwg and he'll give you an additional discount and do the sale outside of eBay to save him the eBay fees. I got my wife a pen from him and its on the way, great guy to deal with and I'll post pics when it comes in.
  10. and it's a great watch.... Somehow it seems small next to my Oris Aquis Date and Raven Deep..... Makes me rethink that whole disease called "The Paneristi"....
  11. I have black, white and blue.... Sometimes it's hard to choose....
  12. I recently saw the Tempest and fell in love with it. I ended up snagging a Raven Deep instead... Currently on the really nice leather strap it comes with, the bracelet is nice also. Comes in at 44mm x 18mm with the dome sapphire. Has really nice sapphire bezel with lumed markings and super lume on the dial and hands. Also sporting the miyota 9015 which for the week that I've been wearing it is only 2 seconds slow! Super smooth sweep I must say, I am really impressed with the latest offerings from miyota. Here is a nice review of Raven on Worn and Wound: http://wornandwound.com/2013/02/27/raven-vintage-and-deep-review/
  13. I can't help but chuckle when Ubi says his beater..... Thats a very nice beater. But I guess that since it's not a PP in Ubi's world it is a beater....
  14. It is my understanding that it would. Hopefully a tc sub expert will come along soon and answer definitively.
  15. I think that they are indeed the same, but I'm not a modern sub expert. I think that these are both noob factory watches. As you read around you'll find that there are many makers/version of the same watch. Choose the seller then choose the watch.
  16. Which movement? If it is a ETA (Swiss or Asian) sounds like it needs a service. It could be, like the dealer suggested, a simple issue of a snagged hair spring but even so a service is what the movements in these reps need to run well. The winding and hand tapping is a cheap attempt at a fix if that's the case, however it could also be a good way to screw up your movement. Read around and you'll see that the reps use the cheapest, dirtiest and often quality rejected movements that are a available to the maker.
  17. Wishing for the best, Happy birthday!
  18. Also helps if your logged in.... That one got me in the beginning....
  19. Well, let me set my pipe down and stop dreaming... You know what they say, "Hi, I'm from the government. I'm here to help." To those that believe it I've got another one for you, "A sucker is born every minute"
  20. Oh man, where'd my gasoline go? Could've sworn I had a tanker full of gasoline around here just a second ago.... I work in healthcare and have 2 physicians in the family, trust me the healthcare situation before was a nightmare to traverse. Now? Some speculate that MDs are going to drown in regulations and need to hire consultants to make sure that their carts and bills have all of the requisite dotted i and crossed t. Oh, BTW, I did vote for Obama and like the idea of access for all to healthcare, however like everything once Washington got its dirty little mitts on the idea it got ugly, fast, real ugly. Oh look, there's my gasoline...... :-)
  21. Mike, it just took me down memory lane. Had to do it, hope you don't mind. Keep it up and you'll be doing the type of reviews By-tor did, that or an updated pic tutorial to go beside Pug's.
  22. Ahhhh, Mike. Remember when this was the best pic you could take? Look at you now, I'm proud of you man!
