Curious, how much does a TC sub run? And the Gen inlay/crystal? I'm interested in finally perhaps having a modern sub.

Old thread but still great. I'm gonna give the Yuki bracelet a try unless more recently there are better options.

Was doing some work this morning and I damaged the pearl Here's some photos of the beautiful dial in better light though:

My obsession with the lugs on this watch made me reshape them this morning. I think it was Dow who told me not to ever look at them because it would drive me crazy..... well it did! Also a little while back I had damaged the plexi so today I finally got a new one and again had to drop it down to make it more of a gen height. Your comments and thoughts would be appreciated. The work on the lugs as well as dropping of the Clark T19 plexi was done with a dremel tool and then sanded to smoothen things up. Gen for comparison: Lugs: Plexi: I think I could probably take off a little bit more but you know how it is with case shaping. "Perfect is the enemy of good" Mine: Before: Notice the lack of the slant on the edge there. After: Lugs: Crystal replaced:

She got redone tonight with an updated dial, new plexi, and a nice polish with the dremel tool!

Any links to where I can find the fix for the springs in the clasp?

Thanks for all the comments guys. Writing reviews is definitely a labor of love. I really am enjoying this quite interesting watch.

I've been wanting one of these Omega Ploprofs for a long while. I think the V2 has been out for maybe a year and I haven't yet found a review on one so I thought I'd write out a few of my thoughts on it. For those of you who are familiar this is a rendition of the 1200m Ploprof. It's easy to tell the difference between the V1 and V2. The caseback is a 2 piece caseback. Quite a nice design actually as the middle section has notches that fit snugly into the case so that it stays stationary and the top portion screws in providing a nice tight fit. Also on the V2 the orange aluminum button actually works! This button needs to be engaged in order to turn the bezel. As for being a diver's watch I think it's kind of awkward to utilize this type of design because it would be a challenge with gloves on to do both things with your right hand while having the watch on your left wrist. It almost feels like it needs 2 hands to perform properly. I took it apart today as I purchased this one 2nd hand. I cleaned it up a bit and re-silicone'd the seals. So let's go through it: 1) Movement The movement on this model is a ETA 2834-2 and runs quite smoothly. 2) Case fit and finish Quite a smooth finish on the case. I love the matte finish on the case. It's not quite brushed but more of a matte polished that's not shiny. I don't know exactly how to describe it but pictures will do better than my description. The button on this V2 version works and ithe bezelis VERY tight. I was rather impressed by it. Interestingly inside the bezel notches it is even more matte metal finish and the outside of the bezel notches is shiny and polished. For those of you who are taking it apart for the first time, don't worry. There is no other mechanism needed to remove to pull the crown. The crown is all one large piece and as soon as you disengage the stem it slides right out no problems. (See the photos below to see what the "Crown" looks like as it's built in with the crownguard.) 3) Inlay The bezel inlay on this thing looks quite nice. Many have modified it to be more "white" and to have more lume but I'll talk about that later. 4) Crystal A really clear crystal with a nice AR. I'm not great at being able to tell if there's AR on both sides but it works quite well here!!! There's definitely a layer of AR on the outside. 5) Hands I love the hands on this guy. The orange hand has a nice shiny aluminum finish to it that is similar to the bezel button. It also goes in smoothly with the word "Seamster" that is in orange as well on the dial. 6) Dial The dial has a magnificent polished finish to it. Text appears correct to me but I haven't studied it in superb detail. Underneath you see the black dial for the date and that too looks very gen-like in appearance. 7) Lume Many have spent hundreds of dollars reluming this dial/hands/bezel. Frankly I think it's rockin' already!!! With just a few seconds outside charged it comes in glowing brightly and stays glowing for quite a few hours overnight. I'm sure that the great lume folks out there like The Zigmeister and Vacuum and PbDad etc could do wonders with it but to be honest. It's already pretty damn good. He Valve Probably not functioning but hey, it looks good! 9) Bracelet and buckle So the buckle of this one is where it has the slightest issues. Mine "slips" about 1mm out although after that it's quite tight! That's the only problem honestly and it's one I can live with. The bracelet is pretty good and I had a SuppaMesh on it for quite a while until recently swapping to the rubber today to go out for a run. It feels good honestly on both. 10) Feel Man this is a big HONKIN' watch!!! It's heavy and heft and demands to be noticed. For those of you who know me, you know I love my 6152/1 and even my 243M quite a bit but can also be caught sporting a Tudor Snowflake or tiny little 28mm Cartier Tank on dressy occassions. This watch dwarfs even my largest watches. As a matter of fact I recall once wearing SDREW'S big vintage Rolex pocketwatch that was converted to a wrist watch and that thing was a big boy... This feels like THAT! It has lots of wrist presence. Those with wrists under 7" need not apply!!! (only kidding but it will feel weird for our brethren with 6.5" or smaller wrists) My wrist is around 7.25" to 7.5" and even then it feels quite large. Conclusion: a stellar well built piece of metal for the price. I'll wear mine at least for a few times this month and maybe move it along to another individual to enjoy. I have very few "keepers" and as much fun as this one is I think there are many out there that will love it. Photos: ETA 2834-2 Interesting crown/crownguard setup Crownguard/crown combo and the 2 piece caseback Beautifully done buckle on suppamesh Aluminum orange button! Works!!! Great looking dial/hands combo Wristie! Check out the AR.

Nanuq and Gavidoc Sorry I never shared that 6200 over here. This project has been something around 7 months in the works with several different dial renditions and started out as a 21J and got updated to a ETA 2836-2... Many many MANY upgrades later it is as I present before you. The project has a thread over on HF : http://www.homageforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=11716 JMB: yeah It is my lovely Tudor Sub and I can't stop wearing it at the moment.

Here's a few more shots that I took tonight once I redid the dial on the 6200 Mellons shot:

Thanks fellas! I love posting my completed projects here on RWG. I wish I had more time on the interwebzzzz and could spend more time here. A great forum and a great group of enthusiasts!!! As for macro shots I wish I had a better lens to do Macro. I can't really offer better shots than the ones you've got. I'm not very skilled sadly with the camera

This project started about 3 months ago and since then has gone through quite a few iterations and problems. Special thanks to JMB for being an integral part of making this come together. From the start I was wanting to do a 9411/0 but I had trouble perfecting the colour of the dial and the date wheel to get things "just right." I did find a "good" dial on ebay from seller Mahand but the datewheel opening had an error and the slight beveling that exists in the datewheel opening is not present in any of the reproductions of that dial. If you look at the gen you'll notice it has a very nice beveled edge that goes down into where the date shows up. I felt that this was a tell I couldn't live with. Here's the mahand dial which I found the colour to be pretty decent but the date wheel opening was, as stated, off: To simplify the situation I decided to nix the date wheel and got another dial from Mahand for a 9401. The colour was a light blue shade almost identical to what I've seen come from Yuki... To me that was not acceptable. You can see it below. I then contracted out a dial maker named PVirus who is a member on HomageForum. After about 2 months I got 2 dials in hand in 2 variations of the deep dark blue colour that I had been looking for. So far as the case was concerned well I didn't notice it until I was pretty deep into the project that the rehaut was not properly angled and looked blocky and frankly like crap. Here's what it used to be to give you an idea (with the Mahand 9401 dial) Anyways... So gradually it was all pieced together including the following parts: 5513 Cartel case with much modification by JMB including lugs drilled, caseback engraved, rehaut redone, gen crowntube installed. Gen 703 Crown/Tube Clark's T19 Plexi CWP Bezel Inlay Ofrei lumed acrylic pearl PVirus custom snowflake dial JMB hands aged by me slightly 2846-2 ETA from a vintage Enicar to match beatrate of the original 2776 ETA of 21,600 bph. http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&0&2uswk&ETA_2776 It's been a fun journey and I won't stop wearing this over the next week I'm sure. The only thing I may consider doing next is dropping a few shekels on a Yuki Tudor rotor for it. Gen for comparison: And here is my now completed Tudor 9401/0 Blue Submariner "Snowflake" Gen Crown Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the clarification. So for those looking to build a 9401 then one should search for a 21,600 beatrate such as the 2846 and for those date lovers out there with a 9411 a 28,800 like the 2836-2 will work perfectly. Thanks!!!

Looks great! I had a similar dial in blue from eBay. I noticed in one of your photos that the alignment of the date window needed to perhaps be shifted to the periphery just about 0.5mm. Did you also have any issues with it lining up in numbers 25 to 31? His most recent batch seems to have that issue. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
