  1. I got my Pepsi & red/black inserts from Palpatine. The inside diameter ring needed to be drilled to fit the rep. They're not genuine, but they're almost exactly like them. Very good color and quality. Red/black: Pepsi:
  2. I swear, that visual "effect" wasn't intentional. But the real WIS would only notice the watch.
  3. Nice one Andreas. Tell me... what do the three pushers do? Move the GMT hand and...?
  4. Thanks mate. Yeah she's an angel. I'm a lucky chap indeed. To all: thanks a lot. It was really nice to do something different for a change. Too bad we don't have many ladies around here. Strange how collecting watches is so male-oriented hobby.
  5. We seem to be buying the same watches. Connie TT is probably the most accurate ladies' rep there is. We considered that too... but I don't think it's that smashing in ss version. And she didn't want gold or two-tone. Cheers!!
  6. Yeah, this seems to be the trend now. I also considered the larger version but it wouldn't have been very original and interesting review. We don't see ladies' models reviewed too often.
  7. My fiancee isn't very interested in watches. She doesn't really understand why I spend so much time with you guys here... but of course she considers the hobby ok and harmless. Most guys browse for porn, but we geeks browse for watches. Guess we're all perverts. She wears a watch though, a gen Citizen quartz. A watch that she particularly never liked. But, like most "normal" people she didn't really care. It's just a watch, right? But... I showed her a few ladies' watch pictures a few months ago, trying to "break the surface"... and asked which watches she'd like. She's just 24 and sporty, so diamond Guccis, Pateks and Rolexes were naturally out of question. Those are for the rich old ladies. Turned out Omega Constellation and some Ebels were "very nice"... but when she saw the TAG Link ladies' model her comment was "Now that's a nice looking watch!" She didn't really want a watch, but I thought it would be a nice surprise... and lots of people have asked about ladies' models. And why not review one for the community? So TAG Link it should be. I don't know how much advertising and "branding" affect on people's judgment. TAG is heavily advertised by celebrities, and this particular model is promoted by the Hollywood actress Uma Thurman. Perhaps these things and advertising affect people on subconscious level... and perhaps even made my fiancee to choose this particular model? To be honest I was a bit hesitant to buy a rep for my girl at first, but then the genuine TAG Link (ladies model) isn't horologically very interesting. It has a standard quartz movement, like many expensive genuine ladies' watches. And to be honest I don't think TAG's (or any other high-end manufacturer's) quartz line is worth the money. So why not get a rep for 1/15 of the price? Of course... before my purchase I asked my girl if she could wear a rep. She said yes... and she wouldn't want to wear a $1.4K genuine watch anyway. Once again... "it's just a watch", right? Whatever you do, don't buy her a rep and pretend it's an expensive gen. Just like Kanerich says "girls don't mind reps, but they do mind liars." Well said mate! 3 months later: Narikaa got back from his travels and I went to his photo gallery to see if he came back with some new and interesting goodies (as usual). And bang... there were lots of nice ladies' reps available. Including one good looking and fairly accurate TAG Link. I asked the basic specs, asked Regs personal opinion about the watch I was interested in... and paid for it. After 2 hours it was already posted and I received a tracking number. Everybody knows about Narikaa's flawless reputation, so it's needless to repeat that all here. To make it short: Excellent dealer, lots of interesting and rare models... and fair pricing. That's Reg. The first impressions of this watch were positive. Very good quality "feel", excellent bracelet finish, a rotating bezel with an audible click and very sharp and crisp dial print. I think I have developed "an eye" for good reps so I already spotted these things from Reg's sales picture. Only the hands and pearl are luminous, not the hour markers. I'm quite sure this is exactly how the genuine is, too. The crown isn't a screw-down model and the watch has no quick-set date. This is typical for quartz watches, and it means you have to roll on the hour hand 2 full circles to advance the date by 1 step. Quite annoying but not a big deal, really. The pearl is a bit oversized, which wasn't apparent at all, until I took some pictures of the watch. The ladies' watches are SO small... and the oversized pictures exaggerate everything even more. I couldn't find the exact match from the genuine versions. All the genuine pics I found had "metallic" bezel numbers, not black. This doesn't mean this watch isn't available with black bezel numbers, I just couldn't find a reference pic. Again, it's almost impossible to find anything other than the factory shots. The bracelet is similarly constructed as the gents' model, with oversized fliplock clasp. Just like on my gents' model the clasp was extremely stiff and tightly closed. So it needed some fine tuning. I used a nail file to make the iron that locks the clasp a bit thinner. My fiancee is 5'4 tall, 114 lbs girl and her wrist is only about 5'7 - 5'8. Still, the bracelet has a "loose and comfortable fit" with all links intact. If you (or your fiancee) is a bigger lady... or even "midsized caucasian lady" you'd better ask for a spare link from your dealer. I'm quite sure the bracelet has been designed with smaller Asian women in mind. The bracelet links were a bit stiff to bend properly, so they needed to be oiled, which always makes wonders. These are standard procedures... and just one reason why we don't pay 15 times more for our watches. Very typical rep stuff that you have to do when you receive a new watch. Other than that... all perfect. Needless to say the quartz movement is dead on accurate. As you can see we now have two Link reps in the family. EPILOGUE: So, the most important question remains: Did she like it? Yes, she sure did. I'm sure she couldn't tell the difference between a Casio and Patek Philippe, but she was really happy with her new watch, which was all that mattered. And to make this review a bit special I included more pleasant "wrist shots" than usual. Thanks to sql_pl for the inspiration! I hope this "mini-review" can encourage more ladies to buy reps... or guys to buy more watches for their "better halves". Thanks for viewing.
  8. I'm quite surprised how good it looks. But then I would feel uncomfortable wearing that... or any full gold watch for that matter... Actually, some full gold Daytonas don't look that bad, either. You just have to have the age to wear these. Don't really suit well to younger guys (imho). But I agree, it's a beautiful watch.
  9. Jeff... could you take a wrist shot of your wife wearing the ladies' Link? PS: She can be fully clothed.
  10. Are you sure it's not the 2842, same as in my Tudor? http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=12382
  11. My girl wears my Pepsi GMT Master occasionally. But it's annoying to resize the bracelet all the time. Now she wants a TAG Link ladies watch. Narikaa has tons of great ladies reps for good prices. I see you're from Finland/EU. Reg ships from UK which means no customs hassle for you. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/regyai/al...egyai/my_photos
  12. Buy what you like of course. But I personally think diamonds are a disgrace on a Daytona... or any sports line Rolex for that matter. Please don't get offended. I'm not "singing gospel" here, it's just how I personally see those watches. Great, legendary and masculine tool watches. Gold is borderline acceptable if you have age and clothing style to match it... but not diamonds for Chrissakes! You asked for an opinion, so here's one.
  13. Yep, there's no way I can get into RWI. Not with IE, not Firefox. I get motionless start screen (nothing scrolling in the shoutbox like it used to be). When I attempt login nothing happens. I even cleared my browser cache... nothing. This is the still home screen I get when I enter:
  14. AWESOME writeup Chrgod. It was a real pleasure to read this!!! Two lovely watches there. My original Bond SMP a permanent keeper for me as well. Actually I like it so much that I probably purchase this and the GMT model eventually... to get the whole trio. This comparison goes linked straight to the Omega guide. Thanks. Yeah, too bad about the 6'subdial slipping. It's annoying but completely harmless. My Navitimer had the exact same problem. Perhaps you can get it fixed only when (and if) the movement starts giving you some problems... or needs service. It's not uncommon even on the genuine 7750-powered watches.
  15. Thanks (I guess). PS: Here's the genuine model that you should compare your watch to (Ziggy posted a pic of the date model)
  16. And people who might have misunderstood what I said in my previous post: THERE'S NO EXCUSE FOR THIS! I'm not defending the guy! I believed that he at least deserved a chance to explain. We've had threads like this in the past... where all members have lynched a guy... and when the "villain" finds the thread and gives his version of things and apologizes... suddenly all has been well. BUT... I made a little search and realized that this Chronomat guy has a history of problems with other members as well. I wasn't aware of the flame wars and his other shady transactions in the past. I read some threads and they make the guy appear in different light to me. Just wanted to clarify this.
  17. I'm a firm believer in giving people "the second chance". If... and only IF he settles this deal with Arthur properly and makes it good... why not? I'm probably a bit biased though. This guy made an excellent contribution to the Breitling Guide... and he sure knows a lot about watches. Part of this mess has probably something to do with his immaturity (just like r11co described). If he trades and "flips" watches like there's no tomorrow it can at least be partial reason for this sloppiness. So let's not completely lynch him (just yet).
  18. Nice pics guys. @r11co: That Seawolf sure looks awesome. You seem to have big enough wrist for the hockey puck too.
  19. Never one single problem, except one watch ran slow and I sent it to Dr. Tommy for a basic checkout. All have been perfect... and just as described. Lots of transactions from fellow members and dealers. You've sure had your share of bad luck.
  20. I wore the Noobmariner today at the office. People always say how Rolex gets a lot of attention but never happens to me (not that I care though). But I will probably strap this on for a big party I'm attending tonight. The good old Speedy:
  21. I guess the rep makers think that people wouldn't buy reps of watches that aren't super expensive. They're completely wrong. If you look at some of the most popular models of the forum you'll find Omega Seamaster, TAG Link, Breitling Seawolf etc. All can be found at 1K (or possibly even less) preowned. All mid-luxury models from mid-luxury brands. I agree with you... I'm 100% sure the 7750-based TAG Carrera and Aquaracer 2000 Chronograph would sell. Just like I said for months that SMP Chrono is a 100% sure smash hit. And look what happened! I also believe a good Zenith rep would sell really well. Like the Rainbow Flyback El Primero. Can you spell "perfection"?
  22. Yes I know who he is, but it's your call to make it public or not. Not mine. Giving it a second thought... I sincerely hope you don't have to do it... he has contributed some good stuff here. So let's hope he takes care of the situation now.
  23. Agreed 100% I think you're being more than fair to STILL give the guy a chance to make it good. So let's hope he has enough balls and common sense to come forward now and solve this.
  24. Nice collection Dani. What happened to your new and beautiful Navi? Not working?
