Just paid for my VIP membership. A few comments on the new layout: I like the looks and the newly added features. The layout seems to not make good use of the real estate on my screen (wide unused edges on both sides, but maybe it's just an issue with my set-up ?). The Classified section does fell like a step in the wrong direction IMHO: Writing a sales thread seems more complicated (but I can probably figure it out) and finding sales threads is definitely less intuitive. I see a 50% decrease in views and even more in actual sales at least for my last sale Otherwise I appreciate what you are guys doing to provide this great platform for us. Donerix

Just got this. Still waiting for the strap changing tool so I can put some olive canvas on this. But even on the rubber for now I love it:

Good to see the Legend out and about

PAM 243 on new prototype woven strap (still needs a little tweaking but I like the feel):

Like the new feel of the Aquanaut on leather:

Nanuq's is definitely safer, but airport check-in might be a bit tougher ... Will take some more pictures tomorrow.

I agree but the nice rifle that used to live in there must have gotten lost in the civil war here in Nicaragua. Now everybody is down to AK47s

At least by age. Found this vintage rifle case in an antique store and customized it. Not for the faint of heart or if you live in a studio - 48" long Holds 26 watches and 26 straps in the lid:

Bought this 2001 G400 at a great price: Gutted the inside and had anew interior made: And I am finishing up the brushed metal vinyl wrap right now:

Not really a dream car (but I guess you can't expect this for $10K). Just picked it up: Now the fun begins and hopefully it will look close to this when I am done:

Did your Hirsch strap have the adjustable insert? Some of them like the Leonardo has it and I have found it to be quite versatile and able to adjust to about any watch (I use them a lot as insert donors for custom straps). I don't know if you have seen that you can remove the square part of the insert and rotate it to get different spring bar locations. Just thought I thrown it out there. Nice Nato BTW

Legend-ary Unpacking the 3D printer today and the first thing I will make is the Terminator skull -
No he is a little guy I just sent a friend there and he walked away with a nice 1665 GW with Swiss movement. I think he paid 9,000 BAHT which is around $275 I think and not bad at all. I still have my GWSD that I bought about 6 years ago from Nah Piek and it is still running strong and has seen a lot of use in and out of the water….

Kids write the funniest stuff. I saw this one at the fridge in a friend's house in Germany: It's of course funnier in German, but I try to translate: Left: Our rules: - Don't talk to mom when she is on the phone - No beating others - Be nice to each other - Don't interrupt if somebody is talking - Keep our hallway clean - We talk nice to each other - We listen to our parents - Hold a hand in front of your mouth when coughing I feel like all kids should have to write a letter like this Right (way funnier): Our table manners: - Only the small of the back (for a lack of an english word) is on the chair - We don't fart or burp (ever) - We leave our hands on the table - We don't pick our nose looking for buggers - We go the bathroom before eating - We don't lift the legs of the chair from the floor (while sitting on it) - We wait until everybody is at the table

Building the closer-I-can-get 007 Big Crown

I use a dremmel and mount the dial right on it with some rubber gaskets and then run it at slow speed and hold a file to the edge. Works really well. For motivational purposes (work by BigDazza, HR case, crown and dial): -
Kudos to BigDazza for some great work on this piece: Found an old river bracelet that fit will:

Watch brands and wearer character/personality association
Donerix 2.0 replied to Legend's topic in General Discussion
When living in Miami Beach I was exposed to a lot watches and had a bunch myself but knew very little about them as did most others. Now I live in Nicaragua where most people don't even own a watch (except some quartz calculators on their wrists) and I am considered a weird character with my "hobby" Rolexes were very common and not even looked upon as something special (unless it was a rare PN Daytona or something similar) I remember buying my first Panerai in 1997/98( I think it was a 199, not really sure to be honest, lost it surfing years before I started learning about watches) and nobody was wearing them then - what I loved about them. But later they became very popular - especially with the muscle crowd (as stated before). And of course the AP ROOs for the super rich and celebrities. While the simpler AP RO represents for me the more sophisticated crowd as do PPs and many of the vintage classics from Rolex, TAG and Omega I agree with Nanuq: I get my hands dirty every day and I wear any watch to do so. Lately I have found that my AP RO 15400 rarely leaves my wrist. I almost don't feel it but I know it's there and it is as reliable and resilient as any Submariner I ever had. I was hoping that the PP 5980 would fall in to the same category but while I love the way the watch looks it feels more delicate ( I think the AP is also the better quality rep just from the feel it has). OK, enough rambling, just one quick profiling list (of course only my personal opinion so please don't feel offended): New Rolex (I don't like any of them): Someone who wants to show he got it but just has no passion Vintage Rolex: For people that understand the timeless beauty of these watches that has been lost in the generations following them Hublot ( I actually like some of them, but would never-ever spend the money on a real one): People that buy a watch purely for the look and status, but know nothing about them AP ROO: You are a movie star or want to be one. Rich kids of instagram come to mind …. AP RO: You got it made, but only the ones in the know will know PP: You better have great offsprings and hope that they won't drop it off at the pawn shop. Because it would be a shame (even if they are ridiculously over priced) New Omega: Yes it looks better than any new Rolex but you are still trying to hard (love my SM 300 co-axial BTW) Vintage Omega (and TAG): You outdid the vintage Rolex crowd in uniqueness and sense of style, but nobody will ever know New TAG: Seriously??? Recent Panerai: I bet you don't know the model number you are wearing, but nobody can blame you. Looking at the PAM history is like reading a list of area codes: 111, 112, 113, 243, 305, 507 ….. (I would love the PAM 785 set though - PreV Retro at it's best) Vintage Panerai: awesomeness - unfortunately clouded by elitist snobbism Chanel and Cartier: Lovely on the ladies, can't really take the guys seriously though that wear them…. I know there are a lot more but I am getting a feeling I might have overstayed my welcome -
Great pictures. I would drive that AM Vantage today in a heart beat. Actually once looked at one when I still lived in Germany. It was cheap but unfortunately not well cared for. Nice to see some racer here. Did some Formula Opel-Lotus (and GM-Lotus in the European Championship) myself when I was young and raced with the likes of Mika Hakkinen, Alan McNish and HH Frentzen (Schumi was still in Formula Ford back then, but already showing his potential). Also did some F3, Porsche Cup and 24-hours races. And then I had my first son and the money went to diapers instead of slick tires ….

Is the smart-strap the answer for luxury watch brands?

From a strap maker's POV: interesting and doable, but it looks like it might be quite uncomfortable. -
