  1. No surprises here, great watch, lousy lume. Just like the SS version. I believe the caseback should have some red on the limited edition number, but beyond that it looks great!
  2. I disagree. There are some reps out there that definitely have the "feel" of the genuine article. As to why the lume dots are misaligned? I have two theories, the first being that the lume is actually applied by some sort of machine and that it is not set up properly. That would explain why the dot at 4 is always way off. The other explanation is that there is likely 12 small reservoirs on the dial that the lume sits in, and its just the printed white ring around these reservoirs that is slightly misaligned. If thats the case, then a relume would likely lead to the same result.
  3. Well speaking from experience, get a watchsmith to do it. Mine charged about $5 to do the job. I removed the old datewheel from the dead movements. Easy enough to get the top plate off by emoving the 3 small screws, but a host of tiny parts popped out as I removed it. I couldn't figure out how to put it back together, so it was off to the watchsmith to deal with the working movements.
  4. Just curious as to whether anybody is in a position to file a Paypal dispute against him?
  5. My thoughts are with you mate.
  6. Sorry for the shitty pics, but I'm a better illustrator than a photographer
  7. Guess that makes me the world premiere? Nice combo mate!
  8. I generally have a beater that I designate as my golf watch. Right now its a 45mm Silix PO on rubber. I need a strap that I can adjust to either one or two notches larger than I would usually wear it, because my arm expands during the swing, and SS and deployants have the habit of popping open mid swing
  9. Man that looks awesome Lan, gotta start taking advantage of Chief's services one of these days!
  10. Sweet!, you rarely see the white version of this classic rep! Thanks for posting.
  11. Great looking watch, but not incredibly accurate. If you have ever seen a genuine Blacksteel you will understand the difference. PVD is just too black and to shiny. Its a nice watch however, and you will likely never run into anybody who will know the difference. Congrats!
  12. Looks like the subdial hand should be an easy fix. Just not set on the post properly. The movement needs to be removed with the chrono reset, then move the hand in to position and set with a hand setting tool. The insert discoloring is likely a more difficult, if not an impossible fix. If it was dirt, or something that could be cleaned, it would be darker, not lighter than the rest.
  13. This one is being discussed at RepGeek...
  14. The sad part is that if he has some kind of problem it could have been easily worked out. I think if it were a dire situation, most would have been happy to pay postage simply to get their parts an watches back. We all know how difficult it is to source rep parts, especially crystals, so he has left a lot of people out to dry by doing this. Say what you want about him and your past experiences with him, but in the end he is still an [censored] and he deserves everything that is coming to him. Any new updates?
  15. Hard to say because aside from a few preview shots of the prototype, we haven't seen the Black Steel yet. From the pics it does however appear to share the same quality, as well as the same flaws.
  16. Well Toad, finally got a free hour of "me time" to sit and give this epic the attention it deserves. Awesome post my friend! When La Swiss reopens we should plan on a lunchtime meet-up so I can see that beautiful Skyland in person. I have always leaned toward getting the V1/3 myself but I really would like the SS bracelet to go with it. Hopefully that option will be available soon! Keep up the fantastic, and quite entertaining posts mate!
  17. Another great review Toad! Thanks for all the effort that I know you put in to this! @BT - This one obviously deserves to be pinned, but in the future may I suggest that you give it a week or so before pinning a thread? A lot of guys only look at the top threads in a category every day, and don't even glance at the pinned articles. I fear that a lot of people will overlook this great piece simply because they don't pay attention to the pinned threads. For the long term its great, but when a review is new, its not so good.
  18. hmm, I've heard that it fits but not perfectly. Anyone have a pic?
  19. Is that a quartz movement? There are a couple of versions of this watch. The only automatic with working chronos uses the 7750 and suffers from inaccurate subdial spacing. The quartz and automatic with faux chronos have better spacing but are usually 42mm not 45mm like it should be. The biggest problem with yours is the white datewheel which should be black. Also, the date font should be turned 90
  20. Thats the thing, you have to know what to look for. We have the luxury of seeing every new rep release, we compare each release with extreme macro shots of the gen. We see the differences very clearly, simply because we know where to look. I would say that you could run the Skyland rep in front of many an AD employee without them batting an eye (obviously not recommended), but this is simply because they don't know what to look for.
  21. Put it this way, it is easy for some of us to easily judge a close up photo as a rep or gen. When handling the actual article it is sometimes not quite as easy. The V2 Blacksteel is an excellent looking rep. Without the aid of a macro lens or 3x loupe it would likely take most of us a minute or two to tell the difference. These new reps are just that good. Knowing the gen intimately is not enough to differentiate. You have to know the rep as well to understand the differences.
  22. I agree, if you think about it, having a screw down with no gasket would definitely leak because it is the rubber gasket that makes the seal, not the threads. The threaded crown only provides pressure on the gasket to maintain that seal. I assume that Invicta has built some kind of mechanical lock using multiple gaskets that allows them to not use the threaded crown.
  23. I still very skeptical. Why doesn't he come here and make one simple post explaining his situation? Do not send this guy a dime more until you get your watches back.
