Get the Swiss. They are not the same case. crystal, dial, etc, and the swiss version is much better.

Dealers are justifying charging close to $300 for non chrono eta watches by blaming the current shortage and rising eta prices. You have paid a premium for something you didn't get. I would also be interested in his response to this. It is quite likely that he had no idea what was inside the watch, after all, he doesn't individually inspect every watch does he?

Stamp is not 100% proof of being ETA BUT no stamp is 100% proof that it is NOT ETA.

Send it back (again). It isn't what you paid for (ETA) and the resale value of your watch just halved. When he used to sell this watch with an asian movement it sold for $128. Ask him to refund the difference.

The bezel is NOT compatible. The insert is, but with modifications and proper installation.

Exactly Tak, the UPO on steel may look cool but it can be extremely uncomfortable after a full day of wear.

Firstly, you should know that neither the gen insert or the aftermarket insert will fit the UPO without modifications. According to The Zigmeister, the back of the insert needs to be ground down and it needs to be pressed in place with a crystal press. As for the insert you found on ebay, I do not see any real improvement over the UPO insert. The pearl is positioned incorrectly, and because of the poor images its hard to tell what the pear quality is. Also, on the orange version the fine orange line that surrounds the triangle is missing. Id stick with what you've got.

Personally I feel that the watch looks much better on rubber anyway. I think the bracelet takes away from the beauty of the watch head itself.

Thats a very nice watch. Like you said, the pearl seems to be a big flaw, but overall its very nice!

I think the biggest "tell" on this one is the subdials. On the rep, the hash marks nearly touch the silver ring. On the gen the is a definate space between the hash marks and the outer ring. As mentioned before, the type is slightly off, but over all this appears to be pretty nice. I'm not sure about case numbers, so does anybody know if the caseback is correct, or is it from the non-chrono version? Gen Rep

I have to somewhat disagree with you mate. I would say it looks equally as nice on rubber, but the PO bracelets are IMO the nicest out there. I love the feel and the weight of them. So much so that I now have two black POs, one on steel and one on rubber. Combined with my third Orange PO, I have really been wearing 45mm Planet Oceans non stop lately. It really has become one of my favorite watches!

Another misconception. If you look at the Breitling Avenger reps which are sapphire, there is a noticeable distortion when viewed at an angle. The asian SFSO however, which is mineral is clear as any crystal I've seen. Distortion is more a factor of the shape and thickness of the crystal, than the material from which it is made.

The rubber strap should not move at the lugs. It does on the UPO because the case is incorrectly shaped on the back. The Silix version has a small ledge that the rubber strap sits on that stops it from bending forwards, the UPO is more rounded there and there is nothing to stop it from popping forward.

Thanks for another excellent review SD4K. It's a real shame that the old school ti Avengers are no longer available. I'm sure they would sell quite a few of these almost perfect reps if they were to bring them back!
