  1. J12 are a good choice always, and even the cheap ones (you beat a record, I paid 80 dollars for mine, but it was quartz chrono) look nice on a woman's wrist. I think you can't go wrong with it.
  2. Finally the Asian version has a meaning for all of us : if you're only half convinced, you pay half the price ! and Mea Culpa if I tempted you... but I'm sure I was right. Time will tell. The very worst case will be this BREITLING landing on a good friend's wrist Frankly, I was not a Breitling fan before I saw the SFSO. It always looked "overworked" (loaded ?), but I see the Steelfish as a simpler model. What I love on most Breitling is the caseback, it looks always detailed. And this one looks particularly well finished. Small details like serial numbers or B logo on te side show how far and how well they went in the replication. The thing I usually don't like on Breitlings are the bracelets. Curiously, the SFSO's one is just right for me. And we have the chance that it just looks as great on SS as on strap. Breitling have become so good to me now that I decided to go for a Navitimer
  3. Hi, good to see you had a pleasant deal with Ruby Love your pics, St
  4. @Submariner : if the Swiss version reaches this price, I would immediately buy the black dial, as the AR is missing on the Asian version, so it would be great looking ! Or maybe the blue..? Oh no, both ! For that price
  5. Good to know the Sellita is reliable, at least no nightmare when discovering one in a rep. How is it pricewise against an ETA ? Because the REAL question, as usual is : can we rely on the dealer's descriptions..?
  6. Hi TJ, if the socalled "faux-chrono" reps would at least have a working day/date feature, I would surely buy these more often. I'm not the one looking for perfect replication (surely a question of budget too), but I need the available things to have a role on the watch. I can't stand (anymore) dummy features, i.e. "one step if the button is pushed". You are lucky that you get a dial with 1-7, as some are marked 4-9, which is the stupidest thing I ever saw on a rep And yes, Asian 21J with working dials instead of chronos are possible TT recently showed an inexpensive HBB, and I liked the look overall, even if it has nothing to do with the gen, it's still a nice watch. What prevented me to do the step are these non working subdials. BLING >>> OK >>> S*CKS I find your small reviews very interesting, as I'm more in the field 100-150 dollars reps, and feedback there is less frequent than higher end reps. I bought a J12 with a leather strap for my wife, and it really does the job
  7. Blue's much better ! As mentionned, a cheap bracelet is not an issue..; but a loose bezel is something I would probably not stand... I suppose I'll have to change my mind and look for an other TAG rep (still I'm focusing on quartz for the TAGs) Thx fellows for your contribution in my psychoanalysis !
  8. Dear admins, I would love to have the World News excluded from the search results. 1. it would take less ressources from the forum (I may know that the search buttons is actually overloading the bandwidth) 2. it would not discourage (even courageous) members to use the holy search function. Example : search for SLR http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?act=Se...mp;highlite=SLR What do you, other members, think about that ?
  9. I saw an automatic rep, but that was an Asian 21J, so faux-chronos. That means that it was surely worse as a rep thazn the quartz. I like the SLR a lot and would love to see a replication with the same level as the TAG link...including the strap (which is actually so so on the rep, at least the brown one).
  10. I should have changed the smiley in my first assertion Well, I would stick to a well known brand rep (as these watches are obviously noname reps, nothing else), rather than trying to build my watch on demand, personally not being very sure about my own tastes in assembling this or that. That reminds me a bit of the Pizzas you can order with anything you want on it... at the end you're more likely to have an indigestion than with a "tested" one (my favorite is the Napolitan one ! ) I like the Breguet style. Let's say I don't think it's worth paying "a lot" if you do not have the Breguet brand on the watch. At that time, better to stick to various "Breguet spirit" watches. Here's one of mine for instance. Paid 70 EUR on ebay. I would love to own a Tourbillon. The cheapest I know from our dealers is something like 500 dollars. Too expensive and not sure if I can have that repaired if it fails. I am a bit suspicious about the prices mentionned on the ebay ad for Tourbillon watches. I don't either like the idea of paying close to 200 dollars just for a catalogue. Honestly, I am wondering how one could get in touch efficiently with a chinese manufacturer, knowing the communication problems we sometimes experience with our esteemed dealers.

Red lume, that's missing in my watches !
  12. Hi Oursus, gave you my opinion after I followed the link, in all honesty. Shared my advice, as requested... Did you expect more ? Sorry then. I hardly see any interest in having my name on a "haute horlogerie style" watch. I keep this kind of funny thing for 20-30 dollars watches, where I can have my face on the dial as an extra. What's pathetic in that ?
  13. Hi, saw this on ebay many times, I personally find this sounding like a scam : you'll never be able at a personal level to have ONE or SOME watches manufactured for the indicated price levels, if any. You wouldn't be member for a while, I would have suspected you of shilling for the people selling theses things on ebay.
  14. If your bank offers this system, you should use virtual credit cards : usable 1 time for the specified amount. No risk. And as for all credit cards transactions online (at least in many countries), you're indeed covered against a fraudulous use of the CC number. PP is less and less accepted by dealers. MoneyBookers remains a good tool (wherever taken) but costs something for the buyer (uploading funds and then payment operation). It seems that WU is absolutely not safe for the buyer, I would personnally avoid, there's no way to claim after you paid.
  15. Do you mean that hobby is contagious ?!
  16. Nice one, especially the dial colour ! I also particularly like the watches that have the green/red Tag Heuer logo. Good to know for the bracelet, I did not expect less, although I find the LINK bracelet of my SLR to be OK (not noticed a flaw, except on the clasp, which I fixed by myself). But OK, probably not the same manufacturer, difficult to draw a conclusion on cheaper Quartz TAG reps. At least on the pics, the finish looks right, the engraving on the caseback too, as well as the dial. Of course, the big question is, how loose is the bezel and will the markers hold against any small shock. For the Aquaracer bracelet, well, I am intending to wear it with a black smooth leather strap (no stitching) or alternatively a rubber one. In the meantime, I've gone for an AP Royal Oak, ordered yesterday from PC, so the Aquaracer will wait a little bit... Not so long though I think I have to try it, anyway not taking too big risks for the price. I have also the feeling that "high end" rep and "quartz" are not compatible in the facts, and it's a pity. Again, for such models, I don't see any problem having such a movement. I was sure to refrain purchasing anything during the holiday period. Finally I could not help pulling the trigger. Am I ill ?
  17. Don't agree Price is not synonym for quality in our world, we have many examples. Reliability is obviously in directl link with the movement used, and as mentionned before, the simpler, the more reliable. And you can buy an Asian 7750 clone for 700 dollars, it's "still" a 7750... My Montblanc Timewalker cost me 150 bucks...it has an ETA 2836-2 inside.
  18. I didn't expect a Swiss quartz to be in a rep... Citizen Miyota movements are however reliable, no doubt on that, and I would like to see more reps with Quartz (sorry for purists...) It's definitely a good compromise between price and reliability. Of course, that only makes sense for some types of watches, and I feel Quartz is well adapted to the TAG HEUER spirit. More difficult on a Breguet Vric, you're right, it's surely full of flaws, but unlike PAMS for instance, I guess they're less noticeable, as many TAG original also have quartz. So, black or white ?
  19. Just about the reps I kept (. I started last december, so within these monthes I actually have "only" one issue, which is not major (yet) : my favorite VC Overseas has problems winding manually (the rotor spins at the same time, which should not be the case). Actually I had worries since the beginning, it did not run the first 2 days. After wearing it these 2 days, it started "ticking" :-) Then always kept good time and winds flawlessly on my watchwinder. Watch is from Sashwatch. Recently it stopped working without reason again, but finally resumed beating. It's an ETA 2834-2, so supposed to be more reliable. See, there's no rule... Now the VC is by a (former) watchsmith buddy, and there are some minor parts to be replaced. That won't cost a lot, then I think I'm just lucky with reps. Oh, maybe I forgot to mention : no Asian 7750 in the whole collection (please don't flame me !) Only 2 Swiss ETAs, 3 handwinding movements (these show to be reliable always), 2 automatic "standard Asian 21J" and 1 quartz (which I NEVER hesitate to recommend). You can see the details in the "complete collection" link in my signature.
  20. Hi, it's not my first trial in the TAG HEUER yard, I already own an SLR Quartz, which I'm really satisfied with although it's fantasy watch. I recently discovered a pic of the Aquaracer shape in the wristchecks (the one I saw had a leather strap which was fitting perfectly). So my first reaction was to check for an affordable one. And I found a Chrono version, quartz, which (at least for me) insures reliability and "inexpensivity". That's the same recipe as for my SLR, and I must say it tastes good ! Before spending my 118 bucks, I would like to know if someone has this specific model from PC. I would tend to go for the black. Here two pics. Any comment/hint welcome. I know that accuracy in replication is not a topic for this model, but I feel that there are so many TAG models and Quartz/mechanical movements that even a fantasy TAG might look great. I'm a bit anxious how the datefont looks like (the 6 looks odd), although it's a standard Citizen movement, so one could expect it to look...standard, from the font side too.
  21. By-tor, dare I ask why there's no leather amongst these beauties ..?
  22. Hi there, and welcome (with a bit of delay), I also started as a victim of a scam site, fortunately it was "only" for 150 bucks. At least I got something, but it was, as one would expect today, cr*ppy. I claimed in the bank, and had to fill in a form, and that was it. I got my money back after one month. Depending on where you live, most of the time you're insured against fraudulous transactions. Where I live, the banks are OBLIGED to give my money back if I bought without signature or secret code. I don't advise to claim every week, of course. Then it's a matter between the buyer and the seller, and I have doubts your scammer will complain or sue you And if you're lucky, which I think, noone will ever know what you bought, because the company names used for the transaction surely don't show any reference to reps. Just say you bought some computer things or, as previously advised, a watch (a Seiko, for example ) and never got it : don't mention you got a broken one, just NO DELIVERY. Your scammer will surely NOT provide the tracking and all the things to whoever might investigate.
  23. The ship looks much more detailed indeed. Beautiful piece of work !
  24. Don't know how the Arameic watch looked like... But recently I saw the Mecca watch... Click (I leave you the responsibility) Now waiting the Vatican's chronograph with miraculous Superluminova... (some kind of superb lume) Sorry for having spoiled this thread
