  1. Look up 1016 dials. You will find no genuine dials with the same font where it reads: "Oyster Perpetual". A 36mm Explorer without lug holes would be either the 14270 (although until 94-95 as lhooq pointed out can have lug holes) or the 114270 that never had lug holes.
  2. Bad dial, no lug holes, crown looks too big. Fake.
  3. Picture taken yesterday, same watch today.
  4. I used a 1601 to build my Space-Dweller. I used a Yuki dial. If I had to do it again I'd use the Ingod dial, it looks much better.
  5. For over a year or so I had a Yuki 5508 Gilt dial and never had a case for it. I heard that the Tiger case would fit it, and it did! Build specs: Tiger case. Yuki 5508 Gilt dial. Dial/Hands relumed. Gen spec tube/gen crown ETA 2879. Hands from an old Sandoz Submariner. Drilled out lug holes. Faded insert from another case. Phoenix Nato Strap. The dial was already in rough shape lume wise, and I figured I couldn't hurt it any more than it already was. The previous lume job ended up with half the markers being green and the other half being brown. I am happy with how the hands turned out; not bad for a first try The 5508 used a 6mm crown, I was going to use the 8mm Athaya, but decided to stick with the 6mm, for now... I may try sanding down the crystal sometime in the future, but am content for the moment.
  6. I drilled to 1.25mm on my 16013 and 1601 cases. The spring bars fit perfect.
  7. I thought a few of those pictures looked awfully familiar...
  8. Just thought I'd share some pics of my latest build. I decided to keep things more simple than usual and instead of an additional Explorer I opted for a silver dial 1002. I had tried to fit an eta 2879, but it was a no go. I ended up using a spare Asian 2836 I had kicking around, which I suppose I will trade in for a 2846 sometime in the future. The bummer about the 2879 is that the stem is a different tap than that of an eta 2836, 2824, etc, so it ended up ruining my gen 5.3 crown I weighed my options and decided instead of purchasing another 5.3mm crown I would drill and retap the case for a gen 6mm crown of which I have a few. That caseback sticker is probably the only thing that saved this case from becoming a gilt dialed 5500 Explorer. With the other 34mm boys:
  9. I remember it being a chore to buy from Ingod. No pain, no gain, he has some great dials.
  10. Gorgeous! Too bad the 2472 wouldn't work, I love those movements and have three of them I have to get serviced in the near future.
  11. First watch, not even debatable...
  12. Ingod has a pretty good 5513 dial...
  13. I ended up grinding the cyclops off and polished the hell out of it.
  14. Ubiquitous built one a while back: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/70386-back-to-basics-a-14270-explorer-i-frankenstein
  15. I'd look for a 14270 Explorer dial... but that's just me
